Reeder not to bad in my opinion.

Is it just me who has noticed that Reeder (51) is a pretty solid violent tackler and always seems to be in the thick of things? He might become a starter someday (even when everyone is healthy) or at least a very very solid #5 LB.
Let's watch him closer next week. I think he's a little bit more special than we all thought.

Reeder has been solid in the run game from what I can tell.

But Reeder dropping in coverage and vs Seattle spying Russell Wilson was a complete fail and cost us a Loss. But I put that on Wade. Reeder should be a short yardage role player.

He's a good tackler and has good instincts but he lacks speed, especially lateral speed. He's not a great fit in this scheme IMO. In a true 4/3 where he is an inside thumper, he'd be better. But Wade needs his inside linebackers to be more versatile and rangier.

His prob is change of direction. He's just so big. But yeah there is something to him when he hits the LOS aggressively and he really is athletic for his size.

I think he might be able to develop if he can get himself to that expert level with the scheme to where he can make really quick decisions. Then maybe bulk down a bit next year, IMO he could drop about ten pounds and be better for it.

Reeder isn't bad he's just raw and athletically limited. He simply needs to develop and learn to read and anticipate. The game is still fast for him. Next year will be when they will know what they really have in him. Part of his change of direction issues comes from being a bit slow as he's still thinking his way through things. He ran a 7 in the 3 cone which isn't bad and actually better than Kenny Young and Littleton. Troy timed in the low 4.6 range which also is good for his position. Young is slightly faster but not by much.

Right now it's Reeder's job to lose. As long as he shows development through the season I think he will keep the position. Young will really have to impress to edge him out. Right now I think they see Kenny Young as depth behind Reeder and Littleton. Like Corey, both he and Young seem to play faster than they were timed. In that regard Young could be an intriguing prospect as he looks to be a tweener with traits of a SS and ILB. If he can show coverage skills, they will have two rotational guys to play that second ILB and allow Wade not to have to use a 3rd safety if Young can cover RBs and TE's something that Reeder struggles to do. Reeder and Littleton are zone coverage LBs.

I would think that Wade is just happy that this rookie UDFA can function well enough in his defense & that he is healthy! Both of his first two choice MLB's are Unhealthy & can not play. Reader is limited athletically & he is well aware of his shortcomings in Wade's D.

I would believe the plan going forward in the off season is to have Reader to get lighter & maintain his power & strength in the run game. To get him further developed physically & mentally fine-tuned to contend with thee other two 24 yr old MLB'ers Micah Kiser & Kenny Young.

Is Reeder the long term solution? Who knows this early, maybe he improves to be a solid starter. Maybe the Rams find a faster LB down the road that Wade would rather have. Maybe they have someone on the roster who could be ready next year. But for a rookie I like how Reeder is playing.

I've got a selfish rooting interest when it comes to Reeder, as he is a fellow Delaware alum.

During preseason, my bar for him was kinda low: "Just don't embarrass yourself, Troy"

Definitely had his growing pains covering Will Dissly in Seattle, but he's shown some growth over the past few weeks.

Reeder jumped out in the preseason.
I think he could be a part time starter.
Meaning he plays in certain sets and is replaced in others. So a long term answer in that sense.
A guy like Littleton is on the field all the time.
So, plays in some sets and special teams.
He is a keeper I think.

Nothing against him, but change of direction hurts him in coverage. That said he has improved, and if teams exploit it they face a safety, and just about everyone seems to be clean to make a play against the rush when we have a nose tackle out there.

I mean, you can see how Wade uses him, and it has been effective. I don't know if he's a go to first and second down ILB and Cory Littleton's new best friend out there or not, and I'm not sure if Wade wouldn't rather have a toolbox at ILB rather than one awesome multi-tool.

All I know is that I hope they remain cautious with him in red zone match ups, because he's simply not going to cover well in those quick passing situations.
