Bruce Arians had some strong praise for Calais shortly after he was drafted. HC Bruce Arians calls 7th-round RB Raymond Calais a "joystick." Says he's a running back/receiver/kick returner and somebody he's going to enjoy finding a role for.

Calais was the speedy part of a three-headed monster of a Louisiana-Lafayette rushing attack. Elijah Mitchell and Trey Ragas (the latter of whom I really want to get next draft) were the other two. Calais has solid hands, is basically Tarik Cohen-lite, and can return punts and kicks. Makes total sense.

I think this signals as does the signing of Hollis that Lewis is probably going to IR. Calais isn't threatening any of the other RB as this guy looks to be strictly a return specialist. He's very fast but undersized. He hasn't shown he is much of a receiver out of the backfield and he almost never breaks even arm tackles.

This is fine IMO because it allows the Rams not to expose other players such as a RB, or WR in returning kicks.
