Captain Phasma , other then that she looked cool , but what the heck was the point of her character , other then toy sales ? , she's hardly in both movies combined

Finn's character development. She's just the new Boba Fett. Hyped up, cool and a small part.

Luke Skywalker , thought the fight with Kylo Ren was also pretty clever , but I knew something was up as soon as he showed up because he was clearly a younger version of himself from when he was on the island with Rey , still don't know why he had to fade away there at the end

That's just how force projection works.

Toro , I really thought he would do right by the end of the movie , aka Lando Calris

I think he's one and done, I liked that though. As soon as they went to the casino everyone was expecting Lando. Then they got him and expected him to be another Lando. I like that they didn't make him a good guy. He reminds me of Hondo (pirate from the Clone Wars/Empire day) but he really doesn't have any desire to be a hero, just to get his cut.

The year's best movies sound terrible.

Disagree about IT and the Disaster Artist.

Click the link in my above post for a description of the supposedly good ones.
Call Me By Your Name....
A movie about a man having an affair with an underage boy. Interesting timing of this release given the exposing of Hollywood filth. But, it's a gay relationship so it can't be questioned.
How was Kevin Spacey not cast in this?
The role he was born to play.

I seldom match critics choices for best or worst films. A lot of Oscar films I don't even watch. The last Oscar winner that I really loved and that swept the awards was "Silence of the Lambs".

There aren't a lot of films that come out that I'm really excited about. Mostly I'm surprised in a good or bad way when I give them a try.

In any case, from the limited number of films I've seen this year, "Wind River" was my favorite. As divisive and weird as it was, I liked "Mother!" but it's a hard film to watch. You will like it or hate it, I guess. "Dunkirk" was good but I thought Nolan playing with the timeline because that seems to be his thing, really wasn't needed for this film and it was a bit distracting. I just saw, "The Greatest Showman" and I'm not big on musicals but it was okay. Felt a bit long. But okay. "IT" was good but I'll be looking forward to the second part more because I'm never a huge fan of child actors. They don't play as real to me for some reason. It's hard to get kids right on film.

On his "Best" list I tried to watch "Mudbound" and while it's a serious film I just found it boring. For such an intense subject I didn't find much emotion in the film. They tried. I just didn't feel it.

I decided I would skip "The Last Jedi" until it comes to television. The plot was spoiled by some people I know and it kind of angered me. I hate when that happens. Worse though--I don't like what they told me. I don't like the direction. Yeah--I'm one of THOSE Star Wars fans I guess.

I didn't feel like it was a great year for films. I hope next year is better.

All The Money In The World....

Enjoyed it quite a bit.
Having recently finally dealt with a true narcissistic personality in my life (the only way they can be dealt with, cut out) I appreciate this movie more than I would have a year or so ago.
The acting is very good....Marky Marky does his usual impersonation of cardboard, but, that's ok.
Interesting story about a pretty sinister (mentally ill?) guy.
Narcissists always leave destruction in their wake....Getty was no exception.
8/10.

Now You See Me
8/10

This was a really neat film. It balanced the "turn off your brain and have fun" aspect with the need to think ahead of the film. The twist at the end came out of nowhere, but at least it was meaningful when it did.

The basic plot is that 4 magicians start pulling off major heists as a part of their act. The FBI tries to track them down for it.

It's funny, clever, and doesn't really require that much suspension of disbelief to get into.

The Kingsman 2, Golden Circle or whatever.

It's such a terrible, cringeworthy cheesy film, but the action scenes with the music are hilarious and a lot of fun. If you just go in and laugh at it, it's super entertaining.

I think cheese factor is on purpose.
Tongue in cheek without being subtle.
