Jumanji - 10/10.

Great family movie. Alot of laughs. Try to watch in a full theatre as it's a great atmosphere once the laughs begin. Don't think too hard and just sit back and enjoy. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson work so well together and Jack black just about stole the show. They must have had alot of fun making this movie. Well worth the money for the movie ticket and popcorn/drink. I haven't felt like that for a long time.

Highly recommended.

This is Netflix's biggest budget production to date(I believe it cost 90 million to make). It stars Will Smith as a cop in--I think LA who has an Orc as a partner(played by Joel Edgerton), This is a new world creation--sort of. Everything looks like our world, from the cars to the streets to the buildings. The difference are its inhabitants. Now we have humans and orcs and elves and fairies.

The film is basically one long chase as everyone wants this magic wand that has incredible destructive power when held by a "bright". In this case some evil elves want the wand while a good elf tries to keep it from them with the help of Will Smith and his partner.

The action is filmed well and the special effects are okay. The highlight of the film for me though is Joel Edgerton's performance as the orc. He's an outsider with other orcs and not wanted by the humans. He plays the part with just enough humor and sympathy. Will Smith is...well, Will Smith.

This is supposedly going to have a sequal and hopefully they will expand the world a bit. It felt a bit small.

The plot isn't great--not particularly original and it isn't the most suspenseful, edge of your seat film to watch for a film that's mostly action.

If you have Netflix already and you're looking for something to watch--check it out. It'll kill a couple of hours.

Just don't expect anything special

I haven't seen it yet, but I read an article on the bad dialogue. Honestly the bad dialogue sounded hilarious. I'm going to watch it and my wife is going to hate me for it.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.....
Ugly characters doing ugly things.
Good cast.
There is one scene that many will think is ridiculous...where an ex husband begins to assault his ex wife and their son grabs him with a knife against his throat, they are interrupted and they just sort of go back to normal immediately, pick up a table that was knocked over....I would not believe there are family dynamics like this if I had not seen it with my own eyes....anyway, well made movie, Frances McDormand should at least be nominated for an Oscar for her work in this.

Had never heard of it, but one of two films playing in the small town I live in, and wanted something to do. Keep in mind that I'm a bit of a musical geek for the past 45 years or so. Entertaining, not an all time classic. Songs grow on you, good dancing, some appealing characters. Basically a popcorn movie, without big battle sequences. Hugh Jackman is a good song and dance man. If you don't like musicals, you probably won't enjoy it. But if you enjoy such things, I'd recommend this.

Just sifting through some streaming movies and saw this one. Put it on without watching the trailer or anything, and it was pretty cool. It was fairly predictable to a point, but it came together nicely. Not bad for a cast of nobodies.

Shimmer Lake 7.8 /10

a netflix original that didnt disappoint like its last failure (the open house ----- dont bother). back to the good movie.
small town robbery plot (similiar to Fargo without the fun accents or woodchippers.) like memento, its shown backwards to which the twist is delivered at the "end" of the movie. 2 or 3 running gags during the movie good for some laughs but also show that the writers are putting in an effort if they manage to remember little things like that. mostly unknown cast is well cast as no one sticks out such as the case in a small town. definitely worth the 90 + minutes of watching.

Not a movie, but the most expensive foreign TV series ever made ... Babylon Berlin. If you are OK with subtitles, history & nudity, this show is set in 1929 Berlin, the timing is also right as some of the political issues might draw parallels to today. It's got it all, Stalinist & Trotsky Communists, extremist right wing nationalists all battling Democrats during the time of the Weimar Republic's most decadent period just prior to the worldwide economic crash. If you are into noir, you'll love this Netflix program just made for binging. I give it a 8.75-9. jmo.

Saw it last weekend... very good. 8/10

Saw Three Billboards on the plane coming home a couple weeks ago... unfortunately, the plane landed before we got to the end... but it was close enough, we understood how it was going to end. But great movie too! 8/10

So... Frances McDormand (3 Billboards) vs. Meryl Streep (The Post) for Best Actress?

I'd have to give it to McDormand. The role was more interesting and required a wider range of acting than playing Kay Graham (Streep).

Man I’ve got to see Black Panther. Seems unanimous amongst people I know who’ve seen it that it is awesome.
I guess my only concern is that the last movie I saw hyped as much, Deadpool, I thought was terrible....

I'm just so over the comic book movies.
