Dune 2021 - 9/10

Have been waiting for ever for this adaptation. The lynch version was cheesey and the miniseries was low budget but more along the lines of the book. This is a very difficult book to translate to film but I think Denis Villeneuve has done a fantastic job on part 1. Now that we know that part 2 has been green lit I'm one very happy camper!

Venom 2 : Let There Be Carnage

6/10

if you liked the first movie , you'll like this one , it's pretty much the same movie

at only 90 minutes you , as you watch the movie , you get the felling stuff got cut out for some reason . as stuff happens in this movie with no explanation

the first 2/3 of the movie is mostly just Eddie and the symbiote arguing , has a few funny moments , but gets pretty repetitive

Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady was ok

Carnage was pretty cool though , and the big fight at the end with Venom and Carnage , was cool as well

over all , I liked the movie , my 6/10 rating might be a little hard on it , but again , if you liked the first movie , you'll like this one , just substitute Riot with Carnage

stay for the post credit scene , it's the post credit scene all MCU fans have been waiting for

or............

it's probably leaked on youtube by now
I'm a big Tom Hardy fan and I struggled to get thru the first one, I wanted to like it but it just didnt click. So I was hoping the 2nd would have picked up its game, learn from its mistakes. Alas, your description is spot on.
I still have to finish it, and will thanks to your nugget about the post credit scene

Matt Helm

11/10

I'm just gonna review all 4 movies , cause , well , there all kinda the same.............lol

back in the 60's , Dean Martin made a series of Matt Helm films

kind of a spoof on the James Bond , spy movies , not quite to the level of Austin Powers ,. but defiantly done in tongue and cheek

, why a 11/10 you may ask

well............

any movie that has a evil organization that has a secret lair carved into a active volcano surround by hundreds of girls in bikini , just automictically gets an extra bonus point

I love these movies , I break them out every once in a while and watch all four ,

Did the woman kissed at the end of Murderer's Row grimace a bit after being kissed by Dean Martin

I can't believe I've never heard of this. So, does this mean Mike Myers stole the idea?

Mike Myers was pure slapstick

Dean Martin movies were not slapstick - just his take on how James Bond would be

They had their humorous moments but nothing like Mike Myers movies

However, Dean's movies were definitely silly at times

Kind of like how Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies were sometimes silly when they worked together

Oh No

James Bond spoof movies have been around as long as , well , James Bond has

it was the 60's after all.....................lol

James Coburn made a couple Flint movies , one of which Michael Myers even referenced in one of the Austin Powers movies

Vincent Price even made a few , but there were dozens of spy movies before Austin Powers came along , and we can't forget Maxwell Smart and Agent 99

The Eternals

hum........

7.5 / 10

actually not really sure how to rate this movie , this movie seems to be taking a hit on Rottentomatoes , not really sure why , it's decent

I'm not going to give much of a review here , as it is a Marvel MCU movie , and it's pretty much impossible to give a review without giving away spoilers

although Eternals is a MCU movie , it's pretty much a stand alone movie movie , with only a couple small Avengers references , you wouldn't of even known it was a MCU movie

I never read the Eternals comics as a kid , as I never found any of the characters , or their story of any interest to me , and so , other then being a MCU film . I didn't have that much interest in the movie

and.............

like the comic as a kid , the movie , I still didn't find much interest in the characters , or their story

but , I still enjoyed the movie , not knowing anything about the characters , might have helped , that way they couldn't ruin anything for me like they did with Taskmaster in Black Widow, because here I wouldn't have known the difference...................lol

the one thing I was looking forward to was Kit Harington as Dane Whitman , but he's barely even in the movie , although the end credit scene is a nice set up going forward , as was the mid credit scene , both end credit scenes , although not mind blowing , both do a good job setting up future MCU films

even after watching the movie , other then Ikaris , I still couldn't tell you the names of the other characters

oh , and I should mention , there are a few funny parts with Kumail Nanjiani , and his sidekick played by Harish Patel , Kumail Nanjiani's character was probably my favorite

again , not really a review , just a couple quick thoughts

I actually ended up liking the film , even though it will probably become somewhat forgettable among other MCU films

later today , I'll probably watch one of those Youtube channels that brakes down everything Marvel which explains everything I missed

P.S.

I am really looking forward to the up coming Hawkeye series , thats the part of the comics / MCU I like best

Was exactly what you'd expect it'd be with Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Gal Gadot. RR and DJ basically play the same character they both play in almost every movie they've done lately but the two of them make a hilarious pairing. GG actually plays the main antagonist of the film and definitely looks like she's enjoying herself in the part and, as always, looks amazing.

The whole movie is a pretty straight forward caper/heist movie with your usual twists and turns throughout. But you're watching it more for the humor and chemistry between the three main characters than you are the standard plot. Action was well done and I thought the pace was about right even though the movie was a little on the long side for what it ultimately was. Worth the watch in my opinion. Not sure I'd watch it a second time.

If you're going to watch it I actually would skip the trailer as it's a shows a bit too much imo. But here it is anyway.

Gal Gadot is so amazingly beautiful, I’d watch just for her.

Jungle Cruise. 6.5/10 for the movie. Mindless enjoyable entertainment.

Bumps up to 8/10 for The Rock and Metallica.

Ha yeah same for me, the music was a real nice touch throughout. Movie was definitely better than it had any right to be since it was based off an amusement ride.

No Time to Die

10/10 fitting end to the Daniel Craig run as Bond. I anticipate in another 5-10 years a new 007 will come around on the big screen, maybe even a new Bond and not a new 007. But this has been an exceptional run of films.

Ghostbusters Afterlife

8/10

that rating might be a tad high , but close

Wife and I both enjoyed it

the movie was fun with several throwbacks to the original . while still being it's own film , I'm glad they didn't just do a cut and paste reboot of the original

the film was a much smaller in scale then I was expecting , but after we saw the movie , I'm glad it was ,

several things happen in the movie , that you just sorta have to "except" , they don't spend much time explaining things ..............lol

the film doesn't have the same magic as the original , but still very likeable

Paul Rudd wasn't in the film as much as I thought he was going to be , defiantly more of a secondary characters ,

Mckenna Grace and Logan Kim are the stars of the films , with Finn Wolfhard coming in third

one thing for sure that the film was missing

a catchy theme song ,

King Richard - 9/10. Really loved this movie and was pleased to read afterwards how true it sticks to the real story.

Valley of the Dolls.
I saw it last night for the first time, because I wanted to see actress Sharon Taint in something.. She was pretty good in it and earned a Golden Globe award for her portrayal of Jennifer North.
The story itself is about three women friends trying to make it in the entertainment industry, while falling into the traps of drug use and bad men. “Dolls” was slang for barbiturate pills (downers). Patty Duke is one of the three women (Neely), and she is well known for this portrayal. Richard Dreyfuss has his first role in this movie, although he is not credited. I’m glad that I saw the movie, but it’s one that I never would have normally seen. It was panned by the critics in 1967 because it attempted a slightly different take on a best selling book of the same name.
7 of 10.
