Okay, best case scenario for Long and it's a his-name-shot: He can develop into a prototypical in-line TE and significantly improve his blocking while offering some benefit on seam routes and outlet targets. He takes over for Higbee in a year.

Tangentially, Rams probably look to target a move TE and not a traditional TE type in this draft. This guy will be able to share the Skowrenek role this season. Lining up off the line and in the backfield. Think LaPorta more than Washington (though I expect both to be there for Rams in 3rd).

It's an unpopular idea, but I trade Higbee, then draft LaPorta (TE2) in the 3'rd and Zack Kuntz in the 7'th. Hopkins gets the TE1 role. Both Higbee & Hopkins hit free agency following the 2023 season as it stands now.

I think you are viewing the situation after the fact without looking at the context.
Ramsey was a loyal soldier last season, played the whole season even when other players "got injured" and took the rest of the season off and defended Morris when many criticized him. He is/was a true team player. When rumors first came out that he *could* be traded, he was clearly upset about it. I dont think he any intention of playing anywhere else.
Let's be 100% clear here, he didnt initiate the trade, didnt force his way out. He reacted to the speculation, which became rumors and frankly when it became reality that he was on the market, he did what was best for him. This is why players get the no-trade clause. He had his contract restructured once, helped the team out and didnt have guaranteed monies attached. So yeah, he now became a trade commodity, and made sure he got himself protected. Was a smart move to request the money being guaranteed (even though 2023 was virtually guaranteed anyway since he wasnt getting cut).
Cant imagine anyone would suggest that as a Ram, he should make it as easy as possible to trade him so they could get the most value.
:thumbsup1:

Fuck the 40-whiners. Misery sure does love company in their case. They got their own problems. Bunch of sorry ass delusional babies every year.

I work at the VA in Albuquerque and this guy came up behind me in the line at the Canteen all in Whiner gear and he saw my Rams lanyard I wear so we started going at it

“ Hey how did the 49ers do in the SB this year?”

“ Better than you guys, your dismantling your team right now”

“ Hey it was worth that ring all I got to say”

“ well we have 5”

The one thing I know gets under their skin…

“ you’re sounding worse than a Cowboys fan right now!”

Lol always good bantering with Whiners fans.

I like to ask Shitter fans: "Young or Montana." Generally the way they answer that shows whether they go back with the team.

Thinking about the positive. The Rams upgraded there TE position which was one of the Bigger needs.
Gives The Rams a chance to fine a OT or OLB in the 2nd or 3rd rd.
This is an example of why I consider National Media pretty fucking useless for Die-Hard Rams' fans.

Albert Breer seems like a nice enough guy. I have no real opinion on him. However, to a Rams' fan that pays attention and is objective, this comment is pretty fucking stupid ... and Annoying.

The Rams like young 'CB Robert Rochell' ... REALLY!
Do you guys think Albert Breer has any fucking idea that throughout the miserable 2022 season, the Rams never put Robert Rochell on the field? In 17 games, Rochell was on-the-field for 26 plays (not counting STs).

Who knows that stuff? Fans who watch all the Rams' games and pay attention. Die-Hard Rams' fans.

We know that. Albert Breer and his colleagues do not.

Now I will give Breer the benefit of a doubt. that he spoke with someone in the Rams' Organization; and that comment about Rochell was made to Breer who simply reported it. However, a knowledgeable Rams' fan is probably thinking "Bull-shit"; and hoping that it's true but thinking ... "Nah, that's Bull-Shit"
it does get you excited though.

Last season was weird in a couple of ways.I’ll just say I hope the NEW coaches are much better.Interesting how Beake is coaching DB’s & Shula back with the LBEr.

IMO you’re WAY over thinking it.Have your heard and seen all The Jalen Ramsey’s Ram interviews over the last 3 years.
Fred Taylor & his group talked to him in the offseason last season.
Jalen Ramsey has continued to say he wants to get payed & is not a life long Ram. He is a Florida guy

Bullshit, show me a quote from him saying anything like this.
He got paid and has showed up every day, every game, never complained
He watched guys like Donald and Kupp sign big extensions, and then take half the season off while he tried to win games. And again, he didnt complain.
I swear, its like folks hold a grudge from his Jacksonville days and that silly brinks truck gag and will just make up shit

Yeah, it's not the direction I'd go for a ton of reasons but here's a non-production one... who's gonna trade for him with one year left on his contract when there's a historic class of TE's to pick from?

Next thing you're going to tell me is that you can get a "missing-piece" CB for a 3rd round pick and a ham sandwich that takes up a roster spot.

I believe so anyway. We have now off-loaded Floyd, Hollins & Terrell Lewis from last year, pretty desperate at Edge imo.
Yeah, I'd like to see them draft 2. Currently on the roster are Daniel Hardy (24 yrs old, 6'3" 225), Keir Thomas (24, 6'2" 275), Zack VanValkenburg (25, 6'4" 263). They used Michael Hoecht as an Edge towards the end of the season (25, 6'4" 310) but man, he didn't not impress me. I don't remember if they used Larry Murchison at Edge or DT...he's listed as a DT (25, 6'2" 297) but that kid made some plays. Really need to grab a couple of Edge guys in the draft, which fortunately for the Rams is a deep position this year.

Not only is it a good draft for TE, there's quite a few good ones on the FA market as well
(Note, Miami has 3 guys on this list, and yet still gave away Long)

It is a historic class of TE's at the top end of the draft (1'st 3 rounds), but some team with play-off ambitions might prefer a shorter term veteran who can step right in and require no developmental period, and Higbee isn't salary out of line. Since both Higbee and Hopkins are entering free agency next year, I get what I can for Higbee now & finally see what Hopkins brings to the table. Hopkins' 12 regular season NFL targets is an embarrassment imo. It's not like the Rams are play-off bound any longer, and how many games are you really expecting Higbee to win for us next season ? I'd happily go with Hopkins at TE1, LaPorta at TE2, Long at TE3 & Zach Kuntz at TE4.

Not sure where your CB comment is coming from as I'm on the opposite side of the fence from drafting high here. If the Rams are truly going to be investing most of their draft capital into the offense, I let the young DB's rise to the occasion, although with a few added later round CB's & Safeties thrown into the mix. I'll revisit our DB situation in 2024 after things shake out a bit.

I would actually trade for one and draft another, I'm quite willing to sacrifice our 2024/2025 1'st or 2'nd round picks for an elite Edge.

With questionable health at QB and WR Kupp and AD potentially retiring in a year or two- no way should the rams be trading future 1st round picks. Even with these three guys, we might be a non playoff team. One or more out and we’re bottom 5-10.

I'd only make a trade like this for a young QB, a young Edge Rusher or a young LT. Right now I have us more desperate at Edge than any other position, and a young elite can not only benefit Donald, but take the DL reigns well into the future. jmo.

February 16th Jalen Ramsey Twitter
"this misinformation people run with is hilarious… y’all tap into that Word of God tho. That’s real"

March 13th Jalen Ramsey Twitter
"I prayed for this specifically for about a month & now it’s happening! "

I don't understand. Doesn't it sound like he didn't want to go but was praying to go? Or did they tell him he was going and he was praying for Miami? Or was he driving the deal? At any rate, good luck to Jalen. Loved watching him play. Do what you gotta do L.A. Rams!
