I think Noteboom's injury isn't 100%, been saying this for a while and this trade would confirm it. I think Joe goes on IR to give him another year to heal and recondition himself. Or the Rams offer him an injury settlement and move on. Dotson is a marginal starter who played LG for the Steelers. His issues IMO are technique, training, and conditioning as well as film study related, i.e. mostly coaching related. I think we will see at best an average OG this year. I think he has Corbett level upsides i.e. he could develop into a good starting OG and he's young enough to warrant the effort by the Rams. I'm hoping as are the Rams this is another Corbett like trade.
I think this moves Avila to RG where most thought he would play when he was drafted.
LT Jackson
LG Dotson
C Allen
RG Avila
RT Havenstein
Swings: OT/OG McClendon, Thomas and C/OG Shelton and McAllister.
That said I think the primary backup at OG will be Thomas. He's got the size and arm length advantage over Shelton and McAllister who really are primarily centers. This IMO is still going to be a good OL and pushes Anchrum back to the PS. IMO as I posted before Anchrum's lack of length (play radius) and most of all his inconsistent play after 4 years is concerning.
