I like it. We can put him in on passing downs if necessary and put him in for relief of TG against our last two opponents to help the latter's knee get right again for the playoff push. It's not often you can find a guy on the open market this late in the season who was a 1000 yard rusher the previous year (not to mention on a team that didn't have much of a threat at QB). And since he hasn't played as much this year, he's probably relatively fresh. If we can get a decent lead in these next two games, he's a guy we can ride while TG rests.

From listening to the interview vids on Rams site, I love this signing. Grammar aside, he clearly has a great understanding of the game and seems really bright.

Hope to see him excel and give our boy TG some much needed breathers during playoffs.

Panthers: McCaffrey gets 96% of the snaps so there wasn't much for Anderson to do.
Broncos: Salary cap move.

Panthers waive C.J. Anderson
Max Henson

CHARLOTTE – It became clear over the first couple months of the season that running back C.J. Anderson had a very small role to play for the Panthers, which wasn’t what he envisioned when he signed a one-year deal this offseason.

The Panthers waived Anderson on Monday, giving him the opportunity to latch on with a new team ahead of Week 11.

"When we signed C.J. in the spring he saw a bigger role than he has had, and honestly, at the time so did we," general manager Marty Hurney said. "But Christian McCaffrey has taken so much of the offense and so much of the plays, we just made the decision that this was the best thing for all parties involved."

Anderson spent the first five years of his career with the Broncos, who cut him after his first 1,000-yard rushing season. He then signed with Carolina, where he planned to serve as a more powerful complement to starting running back Christian McCaffrey.

“I thought this was the best football fit for me, for my style and my game,” Anderson said right after he signed in May. “Me and McCaffrey can feed off each other in a lot of ways… we’ll be a good one-two punch.”

But the Panthers have opted to keep feeding the eighth overall pick from a year ago, and McCaffrey is providing plenty of punch on his own. He has been a true workhorse, playing 96.3 percent of the snaps through nine games, more than any running back in the NFL.

Anderson was averaging just six snaps per game. He carried the ball 24 times for 104 yards, and his one reception went for a 24-yard touchdown.

Carolina is clearly hitching its wagon to McCaffrey, who has been outstanding with 1,018 total yards from scrimmage and eight total touchdowns.

Anderson played just two seasons of the four-year, $18 million contract he signed in 2016. Cutting the running back saves the Broncos $4.5 million on the salary cap.

The Broncos tried to trade Anderson, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, to no avail.

If he does well for the Rams maybe they consider keeping him on for another year or 2 if he's cheap enough and the cap allows.

Yeah having him backup Brown would be nice. I'd also like to see Kelly and Davis get a shot if the get gets blown out. They need snaps

Agreed.
Brown is going to be a FA and despite being injured, he could find himself in demand.

How has he peaked? He's 27 and wasn't a good fit on several teams so they cut him loose for different reasons. In his limited snaps with the Panthers this season he was averaging 4.3 ypc. You may be correct on this but I don't see it.

You make it sound like he’s been sitting around all season looking for work.
He was just waived last Tuesday. No way to pick him up and have him active for the Eagles game.
Is a 1 year 1.75 mill deal minimum wage for an RB? I don’t think so. Yeah he over played his hand I think and was looking for bigger dollars and ended in Carolina.
