One year deal?
Maybe this means they retained him in case Hopkins has not progressed or they may be considering a tight end in the draft @dieterbrock
I think it means they are paying him significantly less than the lowest tender amount, which I think was around 2 mill. So I figure he's probably in the 1 mill range.
Either way, the TE room is a bleak sight right now with Higbee and 3 guys with a combined 9 career catches

Nothing earth shattering here but Mundt fills a role. At this point (aside from center), we should be signing our own guys where we can for minimums so that we can have as much position flexibility going into the draft.

Can't imagine they'll select one in the draft or waste too much time and treasure going after one as a UFA.

We need those picks to restock CB, OLB, oline, ILB and WR depth.

Whoop! I love it! The biggest splashes in free agency have all been re-signing our own guys. Really tells you something about how good this FO though our team was last year huh?

Big D,

Why so bleak? Higbee is an above average starter in the league (and curious about how his rapport with Stafford works to push that forward) and we have a not insignificant investment in Hopkins who's last year was a wash because of covid and having Everett (TE's being notoriously slow to develop). Mundt is fine as a blocking TE.

I'd say we have an above average group with room to improve.

And if Higbee goes down there's nothing on the roster proven to be able to step in. The biggest thing a championship team can have is depth because everybody suffers injuries. We have no depth at TE, RB, WR and CB. Our depth in the front 7 is iffy and who knows what we'll have along the OL.

definitely needed to add an experienced TE and bringing back Mundt does that. TE 2 thru 4 is up for grabs this season and Hopkins, Mundt and Blanton hopefully will have a real preseason, with actual preseason games to make their case as to the depth chart.

I like Mundt...but I still think that given a real preseason to show out, Blanton provides more upside than Mundt due to his size and athleticism

Higbee is just adequate, not great, and he's been dealing with a bunch of injuries. Outside of that, it's pretty bleak. Rams had planned on getting Hopkins involved, and he only dressed for 5 games, and wasnt injured. When McVay gets a new toy, he utilizes it, and yet Hop had to jump in a dumpster to show his mom that his uniform got dirty.
Everyone wants to point to the deep threat, or lack thereof, yet there was no safety valve help from the TE's, all the pressure on Kupp and Woods
