Yeah owners are crucial. Georgia hammered that point home with us for sure. Right now we look a bit like the shitters did in the 80s with an owner who is ready to pony up what is needed for the team his staff wants. I sure hated being on the other side of that equation.

9ers have a really good roster in spite of that owner but their owner is going to hold them back. They're gonna be a step behind the Rams as a result too. Rams players still gotta take care of business but I sure like our chances going forward.
Rams-Cards this year seemed very much like that dynamic to me.

Kinda like the big road-win against the Niners in '89 only to give away the game in Anaheim later in the year and the ass-stomping in the NFC championship game.

I think the Rams reaped the Cards souls last year. Reached up their asses and pulled it out. Could be very wrong, as the Cards have talent, but I don't think they're gonna be in it in the division. I see them as a second tier team at best.

Thing is about Taylor Rapp is that he is more of a Mark Barron type LB/Safety.

He should never be played as a deep safety.

That is a huge weakness of his.

He should be a run stopping/cover TE type player.

He was played out of position frequently by Morris. One of my few complaints with Morris the second half of the year.
Rapp has nowhere near Mark Barron's speed.

I take it you live alone?
Nah, I wish tho. Apparently I wake up with little runts running rampant thru my home and it just so happens that they look like me. Have a feeling the nutsack is responsible for that too. It's a gift and a curse hahahaha

Do you think the Rams make decisions without going to Kroenke?

“Hey Stan! We want to get Stafford, but you just paid a lot of guaranteed money yo Goff that you won’t get back, then you’ll have to pay guarantees money to Stafford next year. “

“Stan, we screwed up on the Gurley contract, we need to cut him and you’ll lose millions.”

These types of moves don’t happen with a cheap owner.

Is it exactly the same? Of course not. Baseball and football have different systems. The common denominator is two owners that want to put a great team on the field and are willing to lose money to do it. I hated Steinbrenner’d meddling but I loved his desire to have a winner. Kroenke wants a winner too.
Stan imo is in fact the real driver for how the Rams are doing business. He is playing a different game-- one to establish the Rams as one of the preeminent franchises in the NFL, in LA, and in all of sports.

SoFi is a $5 billion investment. The Rams are now a multi billion dollar investment. Stan is playing a long game but with immediate urgency. Bringing in star players, paying out real guaranteed dollars, and winning now is how how you grow and protect the value of the underlying investments.

Yeah but Barron had a hard time shedding blocks whereas I feel Taylor does a much better job shedding blocks.
Barron was a fast, athletic linebacker who could also cover receivers over the middle. Rapp isn't and can't.

Cardinals imploded against the Rams in the playoffs. One of the worst playoff efforts I have seen in recent years (though the Cowboys are always in the hunt).

Outcoached and outplayed. Terrible game plan and the team, mis-led by Murray, didn't compete. I don't think the team recovers from that any time soon, and more likely never.

BTW, heard a rumor that Wags ultimately decided he wanted to be a Ram because he wanted to be on a team that could throw it from the 1 and win a Super Bowl.

bah dum bump.

But I feel Rapp is a much better tackler on running plays.

Each has their strengths and weaknesses.

Which one would be a better fit for the Rams next year if Barron was same age as Rapp?

That I could not tell you.

Snead is a reflection of Kroenke. Stan has given Snead free reign to make moves he sees fit to make. Yes, Stan holds the purse strings and as such reflects the willingness of the owner to win, but it's Les who implements that will. A franchise needs an owner with cajones and a GM with vision and the courage to implement that vision. Now paired with a generational talent of a coach who has created a culture that FA players drool to come to. That's why it takes all three, Kroenke, Snead, and McVay to build a dynasty. If the Rams can win back to back Lombardis it will cement this franchise as perhaps the premier franchise in the NFL. Move over Jerry because there is a new team about to take the crown as "Americas" team.

This team is built for the long run. With young guys coming up behind the established HOFers on this roster it's amazing. Rochell is potentially another Ramsey, Gaines is establishing himself as a very good interior D lineman, Jones and perhaps Howard learning from Wagner, Noteboom, and Allen proving themselves as worthy talents, Fuller and Scott solidifying that back end, Akers showing courage, commitment and tremendous talent, all of them proving that this team is more than it's proven stars. This team has multiple stars in the making.

Rams missed out on Von.

Rams took that money and signed Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson.

The Rams are better than if they just got Von.

Agreed - I actually think Chris Garrett,Hollins, & Lewis all going to show a lot of progress. They just learned what it was to be great.
They all 3 have different skills sets & will help in a nice rotation depending the opponent.

I don't dislike any of them. I'd just like another veteran. Terrell Lewis just can't stay healthy.

There's no way to know but it's possible Garrett explodes this year. TLew is a beast but a one legged one. Hollins could be a better rotational player if healthy.

This year is no different than 2021. We can win without VM and if Garrett or TLew don't step up we'll grab somebody at the deadline.

One other thing.....why does everybody shortchange Floyd? He's a beast.

I struck a nerve. The Dodgers are the new Yankees. Soon the Mets will be the new Dodgers.
No nerve, just a bad comp.

Rams biggest stars are home grown or traded for.

Reggie Jackson was a free agent.

The Rams also don’t have the drama.

And they aren’t even the most leveraged against the cap.. that’s the Saints.

Jeter, Mo, Posada, Bernie. Petite. All home grown Yankees and the core of their team.

But how do you figure the Rams biggest stars are homegrown? Hekker Kupp and Donald yeah. Then you have have Whitworth, Ramsey, Floyd, Miller, OBJ, Stafford. Cooks, Woods.

Pretty similar
