Another player that was played improperly by Morris from time to time.

He is a decent run stopping linebacker and extremely good at blitzing the QB.

I just felt too many times we had Reeder in on 3rd and long and trying to cover receivers going over the middle and getting dragged for extra yards for either a first down or 4th and short.

I felt if they had to play Reeder on 3rd and long, have him be the fifth rusher more often than he did.

As an example:

He blitzed once in the 49er playoff game and that was the play where Donald grabbed Crapola who then proceeded to throw an interception.

If he had blitzed maybe two other times on 3rd and long, I think we would have been able to stop some of the longer drives by the 49ers in that game.
Good points.
I agree.

I believe Peterson is back with the Vikings.

I also mentioned the other day Akeem Hicks I know the position is maybe a luxury but he is a disuptive force on bis own he can create pressure and maybe just wants to win.
If you go that route get a legit corner you can hold off on edge as you would have pressure now coming in every direction then if hollins not holding his own you assess edge during the season.

Bradbury and Hicks probably cost bit less or same together than von would have as one contract

not missing the point. Yankees spend multiple over other teams.
Do you think the Rams make decisions without going to Kroenke?

“Hey Stan! We want to get Stafford, but you just paid a lot of guaranteed money yo Goff that you won’t get back, then you’ll have to pay guarantees money to Stafford next year. “

“Stan, we screwed up on the Gurley contract, we need to cut him and you’ll lose millions.”

These types of moves don’t happen with a cheap owner.

Is it exactly the same? Of course not. Baseball and football have different systems. The common denominator is two owners that want to put a great team on the field and are willing to lose money to do it. I hated Steinbrenner’d meddling but I loved his desire to have a winner. Kroenke wants a winner too.

In all fairrness yes the yankees do spend but not like they used to that distiction belongs to the Dodgers and Mets. Its been talked about here in NY at nauseum. That they dont spend the money necessary to go ouy and get the stars anymore...callers fans media mostly irate. Im no Yankee fan or Met fan but i think its a bitter pill for the yankees to swallow right now when its now the Mets with Dodger like pockets and are most dangerous when your billionaire owner was a huge met fan growing up. Hence the over payment for scherzer who makes more than some entire ball clubs just on his own like I believe Oakland Pittsburgh maybe KC.....as does a non- playing Bauer for the Dodgers.

So yes the yankees are NY but they are being tabbed as frugal and Steve Cohen is not making it easy on them. Yanks worst nightmare lol

A quick review of the salary cap you see Taylor Rapp is the 5th highest-paid defender :wow2::sur::angry4:@ $2.54 million whack.

If Taylor were to be replaced by a drafted free/deep safety in the draft or traded, Rams could end up with savings close to $2 million.

I don’t think it would be worth the risk. It all depends on how Morris & Jalen feel about Taylor Rapp.
Next season as a FA he could help equal out comp picks.

The Bobby Wagner being cut doesn’t go against Comp Picks ? (Does it?)

Nah..
Not staining the Rams with Yankees bullshit.
The Dodgers right now are a better comp anyway. Deep pockets that believes in stars AND understands the underlying plan to keep drafting/finding and developing players. Kroenke also isn't a soundbite looking for attention.

As for spending.. I mentioned a few times that I was curious what the Rams approach would be. They were willing to live with 40+ of dead cap last year, so I had little doubt that this offseason meant quite a few gimmicks and big paychecks... the kinds of things an aggressive owner agrees to.

Looks like that happened.

I do not believe Rapp has any real UFA capacity to be offered enough $$$ contract to come close to being involved in the 2024 NFL compensatory calulations awards.

Wagner's contract does not come into play against the Rams 2024 compensatory calculations.

Rams missed out on Von.

Rams took that money and signed Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson.

The Rams are better than if they just got Von.

I struck a nerve. The Dodgers are the new Yankees. Soon the Mets will be the new Dodgers.

This is a mega-upgrade to the defense over Eric Weddle who brought that huge veteran influence. Eric made plays along the way that without question helped this defense. Now they have a future HOFer at MIKE LB calling the plays, mentoring Ernest Jones. This is a huge addition.

Personally, I'm confident that OBJ and Michel will be re-signed. I would like to see them trade for an edge, but they can roll with Lewis and Hollins. They were good before Miller joined the team, he simply put their pass rush over the edge. There is no question that Wagner fills a position of need.

I think the influence of Wagner might be more profound on Tavin Howard. Howard has 4.5 speed with a 1.57 10 yard split (just like Bobby did as a rookie, showing their explosive quickness) and both are 6'2". Howard has the athleticism and metrics to really take a huge step up the next two years. When you compare both of their physical metrics they compare favorably. Both Howard and Jones simply must absorb everything they can from a HOF ILB.

Word is that Wagner had a huge influence. on the Seahawks LB room and their development. That's how stupid and shortsighted that organization is. The Rams in contrast have reached out to Whitworth with an advisory (mentorship) position with the OL. That's why I'm even more confident in Noteboom.

As I have been saying I think Wagner will play 2 years before retiring. But those two years could be huge for the development of both Howard and Jones. If these two guys take that next step up, the Rams will be set at ILB for years with two quality players. Wagner has seen it all, and his ability to get the defense set each play will pay huge dividends for this defense. IMO Wagner has the makings of a very good LBer coach when he retires. So who knows he might be around a lot longer than most realize.

Yeah owners are crucial. Georgia hammered that point home with us for sure. Right now we look a bit like the shitters did in the 80s with an owner who is ready to pony up what is needed for the team his staff wants. I sure hated being on the other side of that equation.

9ers have a really good roster in spite of that owner but their owner is going to hold them back. They're gonna be a step behind the Rams as a result too. Rams players still gotta take care of business but I sure like our chances going forward.
