Yes, more ball-hawkers are needed. The 2023 Rams D had their lowest INT's since 2016 (10) yet still made the playoffs. Plus didn't they have one of the worst starting field positions last year too? Imagine if they had a decent amount of INT's we're talking division title and deep playoff run. Yeah I know, the what ifs there...

McVay said Kitchens is who they wanted. He said they were stoked to get him. That’s good enough for me.

Interesting comment that he ran hurt. I figured he did, he seems more athletic on tape.

I looked to see if there was any report of him carrying an injury (based on a hunch having watched him turn hard and cross both hashes to make an interception - no easy thing , especially if you run 4.65 and are slow as malasses in the 10 yard split! This is the first time I have seen a reported injury. If true we got a major steal!

Rams crossing the Ts and dotting the I’s, which means looking beyond the numbers :)

Combine: Kamren Kinchens, 2.11 RAS. If that doesn’t make you wonder if he was not fully fit having watched some highlights nothing will. If he participated anyway I like him even more…

Kamren Kinchens (Miami) – One of the most explosive safeties in the country, Kinchens is a pure post player with sideline-to-sideline range. The 2022 All-American's speed and ball skills stand out whenever you turn the tape on, and his production backs it up (11 interceptions over the last two seasons). Kinchens should test as one of the most athletic safeties in the draft” Fran Duffy

Any safety who picks 6 passes in a season is probably going to the pro-bowl. Kitchens is locked and loaded to outplay his draft position

"CONCLUSION. Finding a free safety who can play the middle of the field and make a ton of plays from depth is incredibly valuable. There is no safety in the 2024 class who has the upside in that role that Kinchens does. His range, ball skills and propensity for game-changing plays are something special. If he is able to improve his ability as an open-field tackler, you are looking at a perennial Pro Bowl performer, and the baseline is a quality starter relatively early into his career"

I can't wait to see how this Kam Kinchens soap opera plays out.

Edit for spelling.

.

man i hope this guy pays dividends.

was so frustrating having to see the rams offense have to go the length of the field to score a td almost every drive.

And not trying to make this an anti-Morris thread (because he did a good job with what he had to work with), I felt the defensive scheme (due to the inexperienced players) was lacking last year in trying to stop other teams on 3rd down (especially on 3rd & 10 and longer).

We only stopped other teams on 3rd and 10 or longer at a better than 50% clip on 5 games last year.

And the Bengals was one of them where I showed they actually played aggressive in that game.

IMHO - you need to stop the team at a 70% rate on 3rd and 10 or longer.

Maybe I am asking too much.

Kinchens is the one prospect I'm kind of iffy on with how things panned out this last year.

He looked amazing 2022, 2023 he looked very pedestrian playing with bad technique.

Is the stories of him playing to his tune true? I'm curious asf to see how he does in TC, Pre Season and the beginning couple of games.

Will he start?

Canes fan here… Kinchens is gonna be a good one. We need a ballhawk. He forced fumbles and is a great blitzer too.

Mike Ryan is a legit insider for the Canes and if he says that Kinchens ran hurt, I believe him.

I can’t wait to watch this kid on the field again, he was the heart and soul of our defense.

I don’t think you’re asking too much. During their title run in the ‘21 season, I believe it was mentioned during the playoffs or the SB the Rams defense was playing lights out on 3rd down. The graphic, IIRC said something ridiculous like 11%.

Defense still wins championships.
