Every year it’s someone.

The following players say hi:

Nelson Spruce
Duke Williams
Daniel Rodriguez
Andrew Helmick
I don't think any on that list have shown as much as Hodge. As for catching the ball, he has shown more than Cooper and Thomas in making tough catches in 4 preseason games, as those two have shown in two years...

What I am saying is that if Goff does suffer an injury, it might not end his season. He could miss four games or six games or one game. I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does, we need a QB who gives us a chance.

Ah, I misread. I guess I see it like this. The season is here. We could trade tonight for a QB (but who?). Let say there was a guy available - they can’t backup game 1, game 2, probably not game 3 - I would guess this offense has too much complexity to pick the whole thing up as a QB in less than a month.

So, we spend the draft pick to get player X, the salary cap on player X, the time to train player X - and the question is this - is player X that much bette than Mannion to make it worth it? I’m not sure. We never saw Mannion with the 1s - we never have seen that. I’m inclined to put my roster focus elsewhere.

In the above scenario I think Mannion could manage the offense allowing Rams to win some games. All he needs to do is hand the ball to Gurley or hit him in the flat. He has the arm to hit our wideouts on the short stuff to move chains.

Would not be a high powered offense but bet it could move, amass FG's and we would rely on the defense to win games. Our OL and skill positions are so strong and with the Def in place it would be very hard for Mannion to perform that poorly.

Keep in mind this preseason is unlike any other - all offensive starters have been on the pine. The rules are out the door.

Plus, Helmick balled out in his year.

Of course...But I have seen Cooper drop balls that Hodge would have caught, this preseason....apples to apples, and all that

100% agree with this assessment, also believe McVay believes Mannion could manage a trimmed down offense and move the rock., With the strength of the Def we could win games even with Mannion at the helm.

The Saints sure see a value in trading for a backup.

Josh Dobbs or Landry Jones. Mannion sticks for a month while they learn the offense. Yes, they are that much better than Mannion. I am so tired of hearing the 1s excuse. He's far from the only backup QB who hasn't played with the 1s. Many others haven't looked like a dumpster fire. That position is our biggest hole on the roster.

Yep.

Not interested in a 15 page back and forth about a depth dude though so we shall see.

The Saints sure see a value in trading for a backup.

Their is value in Bridgewater as he is a viable NFL starter and the Saints havr a QB that will be collecting social security soon. Teddy is a possible succssor to Brees which is a huge factor.

That said, I want Kyle Sloter, go get him.

Damn, Simien started for Vikings, wonder if that means Sloter passed him on the depth chart at QB.

So much for my dream.of getting Sloter.

We are basing our opinions on what we see in preseason games, right?

McVay gets to see practice.

I’ve got to believe that he is making his decisions on what he sees when we can’t see.

And Landry Jones has more than his share of bad tape.

Cooper is an All Pro returner, and Thomas is one of the NFL's best gunners. When you're that good on STs, less is needed of you at WR.

Price and scales unimpressive. Scales was blitzing and the running back knocked him down. Price has the running back dead to rights and he just shook him off.

You think if we secretly swapped Mannion for Hill, Peyton would notice?
