I really like our running back room.
It feels like we have 3 guys capable of starting and that’s a good place to be.
I am hoping we mix in a fair bit of Hunter and Corum with chance of adding a few longer runs.
Right. McVay deviating from the RB modus operandi hopefully.I think Hunter may be different than the previous mold. Same size but much more giddyup.
I was on record saying I'd trade Kyren if we could, as a result, have drafted say a Quinshon Judkins who I think is a stud at running back. Obviously that didn't happen lol so I'm currently on the side of not extending him as of right now unless he shows improvement on those ball security issues plus I don't like the fact that he also leaves tons of yards on the field because he doesn't have that extra gear to get em. Hopefully one of our other RBs show something because I'm also not huge on 2nd running back contracts unless that running back is other worldly. If the Rams do end up signing Kyren to another contract, I hope it isn't expensive as hell and has an out just in case. Running back is one of those positions that don't last as much as we'd like. Such a brutal position to play.Depends on the manor in which it's done. There's a fellow on another site who believes Kyren has a fumbling problem (true); that he's not a home run hitter (true) and that not only should the Rams not extend him, but trade him (no way). He has claimed it's the right time because his "value is high". If his value is so high, why TF would the Rams trade him? IMHO, the guy might in fact be Blaine Grisak under a different name because BG basically manipulated those stats to show he's not a "home run hitter" or perhaps, something worse (trade bait?).
Kyren does many things well. He has a nose for the goal line. 31 TDs the last 2 years (26 rushing, 5 receiving). He's damn good in short yardage......40 carries on 3 & 1-3, 34 first downs, 10 carries on 4th and 1-3, 8 first downs the last 2 years (84%)...some of that obviously is on the goal line. He's damn good at pass pro. And he's a decent receiver.
He has a fumbling problem and he's not a breakaway runner. 19 runs of 10 yards + last year with longs of 30 and 27. But first downs and big runs don't win games. TDs do. Correct the fumbling issues and we have a damn good (affordable) running back.
You completely missed what I'm saying. Thank you for playing g.So a Rams Fan website isnt the place to defend a Rams player? Or to appreciate him?
Weird...
Congratulations you're arguing with me and agreeing with me in one post.Depends on the manor in which it's done. Pretty hard to say if another RB even gets those yards. Think about it. When we put in Corum, aside from a few plays, he went nowhere and neither did our offense. Whereas KW doesn't have the break away speed, he has the vision, decisiveness, and nose for the goal line others do not. Cripes! How many yards and TDs would he have if he had that break away speed? He would be far and away the best RB in the league. 1300 yards, 14 TDs, 85 1st downs from a guy and you want to trade him for a possibly better RB while giving up some kind of draft compensation as well? Count me out on that deal.I don't like the fact that he also leaves tons of yards on the field
Not arguing with you at all. Just bringing the facts. I do question your use of the word 'frenzy' however.Congratulations you're arguing with me and agreeing with me in one post.
Great take on the matter. There’s certainly pros and cons to KW’s game and you nailed them.Depends on the manor in which it's done. Vision, decision and intuition?he has the vision, decisiveness, and nose for the goal line others do not.
Nice post , and you only named some of the reasons that Kyren is the Prototype RB when it comes to being a Ram. Pass protection, character, attitude can be added to that list.Pretty hard to say if another RB even gets those yards. Think about it. I hope we did better with Hunter but I'm not exactly holding my breath.
It's pretty safe to say he left yards on the field but whether or not someone would have got them is definitely a valid question. With saying I would have traded Kyren if we could have gotten Quinshon Judkins is me more so saying if we traded Kyren for picks (not use the existing draft capital) where one could have been used on Judkins is where I said I would have done just that. As much as I appreciate Kyren being a pretty good back for us, I believe we can do better for this offense plus I'd rather not sink dollars into that position unless its a bonafide superstar. As many here have stated, if we could get a more explosive element at the RB position, the offense would be way more dangerous. However, I get that's easier said then done. We'll see how Hunter does, but I still believe Judkins will be a legit back. Only sad part is he's fucked being on a successful team since he's a Brown now lol. As usual, if I'm wrong about Kyren not being a future back that's best for us, I'm ok with that tooPretty hard to say if another RB even gets those yards. Think about it. I like everything I’ve been hearing about this guy, too.Hunter it seems has a passion for football. Sounds like a Rams kind of guy. I can’t wait to see what he can do.
What you’re saying then is that either we were going to get a very high 2nd round pick for Kyren or we were going to have to augment that trade with other draft capital in order to move up to get Judkins. You better have yourself a sure fire stud to make that kind of move. I personally don’t think he’s that guy. It's pretty safe to say he left yards on the field but whether or not someone would have got them is definitely a valid question. If not, there sure fucking should be. Hey @CGI_Ram see if you can do something with that with AI.Vision, decision and intuition?
There must be at least a t-shirt for that, if not a song.
