Akers has a separated rib cartilage injury. Playing him is foolish instead of simply placing him on IR or resting him. The problem is that it normally takes 3-6 months to heal. Playing him risks forcing him to have season-ending surgery. Sit him now and he potentially will be okay for the playoffs. Play him now and they probably won't have him late in the season. I look to see Jones getting some snaps this week against the cows.

Henderson will likely carry the load again and until Akers returned. He looked very good against the Birds both running and receiving. I have always really like Henderson and think he's going to have a good career. They also have a total burner on the PS and I don't understand why he isn't returning kicks especially punts. Kick returns was his specialty in college. He's small but fast. I had assumed when they signed him he would be the return specialist. I would expect him to be elevated at sometime during the season.

I'm hoping there will be some roster moves just before the bye.

The news about Noteboom isn't good. Apparently his sprain is actually a muscle tear that will take a minimum of several weeks to heal if not surgically repaired. I think that Kromer might have ended his career by playing him out of position.

But overall the Rams have been lucky so far in terms of injuries. What this all does is show just how deep this roster is and why I feel it's a true contender.

Per therams.com’s Stu Jackson, the Rams updated the injury status of four players. The first injury was that of left offensive guard Joseph Noteboom. Per the report, Noteboom suffered a grade 2 calf strain. Per BostonSportsMedicine.com, this type of injury indicates partial tearing of muscle tissue and can require three to six weeks of rest and recovery before resuming full activity. Due to the time required to heal, the team is considering pacing him on the injured reserve list. Noteboom will not be active for the Buffalo Bills game. In his place, the Rams will likely start last year’s starting left guard David Edwards.

Plus this was disclosed too:

"McVay also said Darious Williams is dealing with Achilles tendinitis, but expects him to play at Buffalo. Williams will rest Wednesday, practice Thursday + Friday. "

Could indicate that we might see more of CB's David Long & Terrell Burgess.

I think Corbett to RG was to allow Noteboom LG... with Noteboom out they may shake up the line and move Corbett to LG and Edwards to RG, but we'll have to see.
Maybe so but if I'm Kromer there is no way I'd mess with Corbett / Hav. Those two are working very well together.

And I also agree with the sentiment that Edwards is better on the left side. That spot also allows him to neutralize opposing 3T as he settles in and starts to really hit his stride. Having a LG that is resistant to power moves is gonna be nice, he just needs snaps.

Did I miss something or is Edwards broken? Edwards looked good at LG, why would the Rams change it up?

Anyone have his PFF score?

Re: Akers... I would rest him in game 3. IMO he is going to be really important to us down the stretch.

Activate Jones. This is where you can benefit from keeping that fourth back. Also you get a look at Jones in live snaps which might help down the road.

2020 season David Edwards PFF grade 61.2 from only 29 snaps- zero penalties zero sacks allowed.

2020 season Joseph Noteboom PFF grade 42.4 from 113 snaps with one sack allowed.

With all the bad news on Noteboom & the likelihood of being IR'd for a period of time(back to back season IR'd).....Edwards will now getting his 2nd opportunity to secure a starting position @ LG.

I not sure why Kromer just does not like this ex-college starting OT David Edwards in this position. Just makes good sense to me. This time I hope he will leave him there & let him grow into a very solid NFL LG.

Re. Cam Akers injury:

I separated some rib cartilage back in college, and I can tell you it hurts. (I got hit playing rugby... what a crazy-ass sport. Tackle football without pads!)

For me, it hurt to laugh, hurt to cough, hurt to breathe, hurt to sleep... basically everything I did freaking hurt for a while. Took a good month to settle down.

Anyway, can’t imagine playing RB in the NFL with separated rib cartilage. That would hurt like a MF’er. Glad they have powerful pain masking medication, but still...
Yeah, I had this once too. I would think 4-6 weeks of lingering effects, Bummer because I think he will be a very good plus yardage back with occasional long runs

The only thing I can think of is they're giving Note every opportunity to start/play due to the draft capital invested...

But the film doesn't lie

I was thinking the same.

A rookie Cam Akers is a role player at this point, really... so... No rush. Assuming Brown and Henderson are full go.

Doctor's assistant: "I got to stab him in the lungs three times?"

Doctor: "No you don't got to fucking stab him three times!!! You gotta stab him once, but it's got to be hard enough to get to the ribs."

The Rams should just fire Kromer(blue font of course)

I think I know why you didn't use the blue font.
You just couldn't find a shade of Blue dark enough to represent the
amount of sarcasm you wanted to apply to that statement.
Don't blame you, he would be one of the very last coaches I would want
to leave our staff.
If the Rams fired him, I don't think he would last a week before being hired elsewhere.

People don't understand what a grade 2 muscle strain is. It's just short of a complete tear or muscular rupture. It's not something you just rest for a week or two. If they bring him back too early they can really hurt him. Normally a grade 2 strain takes at least a month to heal then there is several weeks of rehab. Don't believe me? Here's a quote from an HSS a professional orthopedic service.

Grade 2: More extensive damage with more muscle fibers involved. However, the muscle is not completely ruptured. These injuries present with significant loss of strength and motion. These injuries may require two to three months before a complete return to athletics.

Who are the Ram's kidding? He's got to be IR'd at this point. Who are the Rams kidding? 3 months means he wouldn't play until January. This is why you don't play guys out of position, i.e. who don't have the physical metrics for the position. They have Evans and Shelton who are built like OGs why not play them? This is why I'm concerned about playing Edwards who is even taller than Noteboom at OG. It's why he struggled to play low last year. OG is about playing with leverage and that means keeping your pads low. Edwards at 6'6" has problems playing that way. Both Noteboom and Edwards are natural OT's. The Rams will need both next year.

Anchrum is built like a center but they have him practicing as a LT?

The Rams placed Noteboom (calf) on injured reserve Wednesday, Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

With the new rules going into affect this season, Noteboom will now have to miss a minimum of three games on IR. The injury occurred in the second half of Sunday's win against the Eagles, and as evidenced by this news, appears to be somewhat serious. David Edwards is expected to handle depth guard duties on the offensive line as long as Noteboom is sidelined.
