Let’s not forget more comp picks if he gets promoted after next year. The more I read about him post Tampa the more I like the hire.
Doesn't he have to stay a couple of years for comp pick consideration?

While a discussion about schemes Morris has historically run (if he is hired) is reasonable, it does not mean he is committed to a scheme.

In Washington, McVay predominantly ran a two-TE set; and the Rams first draft choice in the McVay-era was used for a receiving-TE in Everett despite having Higbee. Nevertheless, McVay mostly used a three-WR set for his first two seasons because that is what the talent dictated.

I think good coaches fit with their talent rather than force the talent into specific schemes.

The Rams defense is so good right now, I cannot fathom switching to a 4-3.

I would highly doubt they'd switch schemes. A great coach adapts to his players.

Funny thing was when the Rams hired Son of Bum, the concern was that he'd switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4

Huh, I didn't know that but you made me go look and you are right apparently. Hmm, weird rules lol.

The one catch with the rule is that the minority candidate would have had to have been with his original team for at least two years.

Hope he’ll bring SS Keanu Neal with him!
Quality player but durability issue.

Even, assuming John Johnson leaves via free agency, the Rams have Fuller, Rapp, Burgess and Scott at safety.

With limited cap space, don’t see the Rams spending significant $ on a safety.

If this means we lose Pleasant, I'm not for it. Multiple players (including Ramsey) we're all for promoting him.

Didn't R. Morris fail big time in his HC gig? Why would anyone be worried about him getting another one anytime soon?

Looks like signs point to this getting done soon. I like it. I would have been fine with Pleasant as well, but Morris will do fine......until he leaves....

I am not sure he even had enough time to build that team honestly. If he does well in LA, he will get HC looks....without a doubt.

I would love this hire. His previous relationship with McVay would be a plus, and I actually think there would be a great chance that we could keep most if not all of our top defensive assistants in place under Morris.

I know people have mentioned the scheme, but I seriously doubt we switch to a primarily 4-3 scheme. What I do think this hire would allow us to do is to be more versatile in our schemes and use some variety based upon the talent we have. That's been the move by McVay from last year's hires....making adjustments, and having versatility. We need to make more steps in that area on the offensive side of the ball.

But I'd definitely like the hire. Folks questioning how good the Falcons Defense was....there was a drastic improvement from when Morris took over, and they shut down some good teams late in the season.

He was the HC in Tampon from 2009 - 2011. He compiled a record of 17 -31.

I will say that I like Morris' depth of secondary background. Nowadays the biggest part of defense during the regular season is slowing the passing game because that's where most of your scoring is sourced from; teams tend to get more chunk yardage in the air than they do on the ground.

This means McVay doesn't feel like Pleasant is ready. And/or that he doesn't want to endure growing pains when he's got a guy who's been through it that he can bring in.

My concern is his track record. This is not a guy who has been involved with a lot of top defenses. His defense this year with Atlanta was shitty. Sounds to me like a friend hire which doesn't always work out the way you want it to.

Atlanta's D was bad in the 1st half and very solid in the 2nd.
