At this point, people have already traveled to come to the game (or will be arriving tomorrow at the latest - point being, they've booked plane tickets, hotels, cars, etc.). When they've been so gungho about not cancelling anything so far this year, how would they even try to handle the optics of having thousands of people in LA explicitly to see this game get told that they flew from....wherever...for nothing?

Yes, it is. And it has a 99.7% survival rate or thereabouts, with deaths heavily skewed toward the same demographic that is vulnerable to the seasonal flu (and thus NOT the demographic of pro football players), and with the most recent variant being (as pandemic viruses tend to become) more transmissible but far less deadly than the early variants. It's basically like the seasonal flu now and we don't shut down society or even pro football for that, so can we stop pretending this is like the second wave of the Spanish Flu and just everybody get on with their lives?
This is really a downer. Rams football is a HUGE part of my life. Its one of those things that gets me thru the week knowing a Rams game is on Sunday.
I know it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but I really enjoy a Rams football Sunday, win, lose or draw...obviously wins are better but if we lose I just look to the next opp.
This whole thing just puts a damper on the game, especially since we were/are playing so well the past 2 weeks.
Hopefully we can get thru this, put it past us, and get ready for the long stretch drive.

They did change the location of the Rams vs. Chiefs game on pretty short notice, so I think they could postpone it as well.
Or, they could just be adults and let the players play, since most of them have no symptoms and the few that do have mild symptoms.

Cardinals on the COVID list: 1 (Center Rodney Hudson).
Similarly the Browns’ and WFT’s last opponents (Baltimore, Dallas) each have only one player on their COVID lists.
Will those lists grow in the next week, or does this suggest that there is a low on-field transmission rate?

Some things I have heard is that it is really hard to get Covid outside.
Maybe the air flow outside causes the virus to spread apart where only an extremely small amount is actually inhaled into your body.
I really don't know but that's what I heard anyway.

I'm not sure they'd go back to last year's process, but that was delay the game daily as many times as possible (up to Wednesday?) before going to worst-case scenarios (reschedule/forfeit).

Here's a clue, union leadership - you represent THE PLAYERS interests. Not the other way around. If they don't want to continue with the protocols, then you go to the league and advocate THEIR position. Full stop.
Never thought of that. Seems odd we seem to have an "outbreak" and yet they haven't? It's just wierd to me.
There does not have to be any negative tests.
Yesterday, the NFL changed the criteria for a player to return from the COVID-List.
It actually makes perfect sense. The virus doesn't really transmit in outdoor settings or in settings with strong ventilation because it requires sustained exposure to the particles (this, for the record, is also why wearing masks on airplanes is moronic, because the plane's filtration system is so strong that there's an almost 0% chance of transmission, even on a long haul flight in a packed A380 where the person in the seat next to you is positive). When you think about a football stadium, from a players perspective, they're basically open-air environments both because of the amount of open space around them in every axes except down (true of anywhere that isn't employing jetpacks) as well as an immensely strong HEPA filtration system in the buildings themselves. Opposing players, over the course of a game (with the exception of linemen) are seldom in the same space as others for more than a second or two at a time. Obviously, the dynamic for the fans is significantly different, as they spend 3 hours in close contact with at least 25 other people.
Also, as a byproduct of their job, these players are all wearing mouthpieces, which means they're all breathing exclusively through their noses, which offers additional filtration.
So the issue with cross-team contamination isn't being on the field at all. The issues come to be as a result of many of these people from opposing teams actually being friends with one another, and meeting up after the game for a drink or a meal or even to the home player's home.
Within an individual team, the greatest risk comes in the form of individual groups sharing a room for things such as film study or whiteboard strategy. This is why you'll see the entire secondary or the Browns QB room get wiped out, but the linebackers will be generally fine.

Yep. That appears to be what's happening. Moving the Browns game to Monday and the Rams game to Tuesday.
EDIT: WTF vs Eagles moving to Tuesday as well.

I'm wondering why we're not seeing guys from last weekend come off the list. It's a concern for me at this point with it being Friday and all.
Im not arguing, generally curious where you got this take from? I read the memo screenshotted by Jourdan Rodrigue yesterday and my interpretations was that negatives tests were still needed in every scenario listed on that memo.
If Saturday's Browns' game is not postponed, it will be interesting to see how many (or any) of the Browns' players are cleared by the end of today. From what I read, under this new Cycle Testing process, a player must be cleared the day before a scheduled game.
Cleveland has almost as many players on the COVID-List as the Rams. If a bunch (say 8-12) are cleared later today to play tomorrow, that would bode well for the Rams. If it's zero-to-two, that ain't good news for the Rams who would have until Saturday afternoon for their players to be cleared for Sunday.
I am guessing (and I am a lousy guesser ... seriously, ask anyone) that unless almost half of the Browns' COVID-List players are cleared, their Saturday game would get pushed-back to Monday or Tuesday.
