Love the defense's numbers. But, I can't help but to notice that they really haven't played that many teams with top QBs yet.

Nor will we. We have five division games left (no top QBs there unless we are saying Darnold is, which....I guess. But he's in the Daniel Jones tier to me at best).

Rattler, Penix, Bryce

That just leaves Baker and Goff. Goff has looked very mortal against teams with a pass rush, and godlike against teams without. We get both at home too..

We would need Witherspoon back if we run into Philly again. Here's the cool thing though...

The Lions, Seahawks, Niners and Bucs have some great WRs - but ones that our CB group can match up against decently. So while I would like to make a move there...I am starting to wonder if we'll be okay without

The area our defense struggles with is the Cover-2, for some reason it takes our DB's extra time to react. But I agree I'm thinking we could be okay as well.

Stroud - major issues with that Oline, going back to last year.

Ward - terrible so far.

Hurts - atore us a new one and we couldn’t stop the comeback.

Daniel Jones- we lose if Mitchell doesn’t have a Brian Fart.

Mac Jones - backup that tore us up in the middle.

Rushing - backup.

Lawrence - played well against him.

Our front is really good. Edges are top notch. Interior is excellent. Poona really improved our run D. Landman is a major upgrade. Safety’s are solid. Q has been excellent. CB’s have been serviceable.

We have really improved vs the run but have shown holes in pass converge and been lucky to have faced 2 backups, a struggling rookie and Stroud who is really struggling.

I personally would like to see the Rams match up on Man coverage more to give the pass rush a chance to get home. That game against the 9ers just drove me bonkers. Of course, I wanted to use another phase besides bonkers, but I tried to keep it clean for the board.

I am one who thinks there's been a bit of luck when it comes to the defense, for sure... but I also think they've been pretty darn good.
I appreciate where you're coming from in the tempered approach here, but I do think you may be selling the D a little short.

The couldn't stop AJ Brown, is how I would characterize the Eagles game.. and, there's still time to add a CB and, hopefully Spoon will be back later.
The Rams literally beat the Colts by 7.. so, no.. they would'n't have automatically lost. Further.. it's just impossible to know what would happen after that. The Rams were not outclassed in that game... and ... let's look at how effective they were in slowing Taylor. That was impressive.

But.. yeah.. I think the overall approach of "The stats paint a prettier picture" than the actual play is fair

You can pick apart any of the top defenses schedule so far. The Broncos and the Texans have both played a lot of the same teams as the Rams. Rams overall 2nd in points allowed and 2nd in sacks. 1st in forced fumbles. I’ll take that all day and I think the defense will continue to get better.

Can we say, "you are what your numbers say you are" just like "you are what your record says you are"?
If we’re talking about points scored and points allowed, I’d say Yes. The other stuff not so much.
