I can see us adding one or two of our young players to the practice squad if solid vets shake loose on OL or ILB. How much Cap, if any, do we have left if we want to sign a vet at either spot?

Some general needs:
Depth at corner: Once Obo goes to IR, I hope the Rams sign Orr.

Kick Returner: If Skow goes to short term IR, we need help at KR. Wouldn't hurt to scour the wire as Cooper and Webster are FAs.

Improvement at ILB: Heard this guy named KJ Wright is available.

This safety group is the best I can remember in horns. Both Reed and Hughes were excellent across the preseason games. Impressive.

SAFETIES (6): Taylor Rapp, Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess, Jordan Fuller, J.R. Reed, JuJu Hughes

Great depth but Johnson will remain hard to replace, he was that good in horns

The above re: Anchrum makes me feel better.

KJ Wright wants to start. Why not offer him a one year deal and let him compete? Howard is one of the weaker players on the 53. Great call, especially as he is a proven winner who would be a great mentor to Jones and co

So if Anchrum and Shelton will be added later, who goes? I think Jackson and Evans hit the PS.
I think cutting Jackson would be a mistake because teams don't overlook guys who show well at LT even in preseason.

Evans would probably get claimed due to his draft status as well but I don't care if someone claims him. He's 3 years in and looks like a fucking rookie.

Cap shouldn't change much other than the Hekker restructure. It'll change a couple $100k give or take, but nothing drastic. Players like Deayon (savings of $920k) and Kiser (savings of $850k) will be replaced with players more of the $700k range. Prior to today, OTC had us at $5.8m with the top 51 cutoff.

Completely agree with what you said, Merlin.

Anchrum made it. McVay confirmed in his presser. Just got banged up on Saturday.

Evans is a vested veteran so he won't have to go thru waivers. I think Anchrum would clear waivers because he's not ready to play and waiver claims must be added to the 53 roster.
