Playing 4D chess, gonna force the team to go for it on 4th down when they cross the 50.
Totally agree. This is one unit we are very deep at.This safety group is the best I can remember in horns. Both Reed and Hughes were excellent across the preseason games. Impressive.
SAFETIES (6): Taylor Rapp, Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess, Jordan Fuller, J.R. Reed, JuJu Hughes
Especially on this roster. The Rams drafted three players in the 7th round, and all three made the team (two, Funk and Garrett, may very well be on the active roster on opening day).
I'm betting the odds of that are pretty low.

Shelton & Anchrum might go on Ir? Not sure how that works. Was surprised to see Ben Sko on the roster. Thought Blanton. Hopkins stepped up,especially on special teams. Hope I hope I lit a fire with him.He was playing soft & acting like he did twang to be on the field. Gave him a That is why your going to cut. Then nice catch & show you want it.Yeah I didn't think they'd go all OT with the depth. They must think Shelton will clear waivers. I have to agree he should but he did have a really good preseason.
But they also seem to think Evans is an OG. So idk man. Hopefully both Shelton and Meredith end up on the PS. If that happens we're in good shape.
He could come back when Obo, who I'm about over at this point can't stay healthy, goes on IR. Very glad Garrett is on the list though.Lawler being cut is a shock to me. Otherwise I like the roster.
My thinking was that Stafford is 33(?) yrs old. Wolford has limitations. We won't be picking in the top 10 any time soon WHEN THE TIME COMES to replace Stafford in a few years. I think it's smart to hold on to the other developing QB who gives you that extra elusive quality. The Rams haven't drafted one in many years so keep your fruits of labor. IMO keeping Perkins is smart insurance. Lets see where Perkins is at a year from now. There are too many teams with shit at qb2. Think the Cowturdseir aparent wouldn’t love to have this guy as a their backup? It makes too much sense to keep him on the 53.
I just don't get this move. Keeping a 3rd QB and 6 safeties? Reed and Hughes both over Lawler? I mean we have huge question marks at OLB, and with Obo and Lewis both nursing injuries I dont agree with this move. Lawler looked great in the preseason and is finally healthy. So weird to me.Lawler being cut is a shock to me. Otherwise I like the roster.
I could honestly see Stafford staying beyond his current contract though. Win a few playoff games become a hero in LA like his best friend and it might just be a 2nd home for him and his family. My thinking was that Stafford is 33(?) yrs old. Wolford has limitations. Me too. I say give him another year of development. I strongly believe your QB2 needs to be a guy who knows the offense(obviously) but can also get out of trouble with his legs and maybe steal a couple games simply because the defense hasn't adjusted in the film room.Yes he was definitely late on a lot of throws. Guy has a lot of questions no doubt. But I am happy they made room for him.
Perkins doesn't have the arm talent to start in this league, no matter how long hes developed. He could be a quality backup and I think thats where his value is. There are a number of teams with complete garbage at backup QB who would have snatched him up almost certainly. My guess is we will try to get a 7th round pick from one of those teams for Perkins. Or a late round pick swap. Keeping him to trade is the only thing that makes sense to me.My thinking was that Stafford is 33(?) yrs old. Wolford has limitations. Hell yeah of course ideally, but i'm speaking in terms of contingencies. Injury or unexpected retirement etc. If the Rams were stuck with just Wolford and a JAG QB that stinks. Anyway, i'm glad they didn't try to get cute with Perkins.I could honestly see Stafford staying beyond his current contract though. Bojorquez was used to leverage Hekker into a restructure. Dirty pool.Johnny Hekker restructures contract to remain with Rams
Johnny Hekker is staying with the Rams after restructuring his contract.theramswire.usatoday.com
that answers that question
Johnny better not have another 2020.
Sounds like obo to IR so maybe to take his spot?I just don't get this move. Keeping a 3rd QB and 6 safeties? Reed and Hughes both over Lawler? Arm talent is questionable. Not sure if you read my other post. Nowhere have i claimed he's the future franchise QB. He's the IDEAL backup QB however.Perkins doesn't have the arm talent to start in this league, no matter how long hes developed. He could be a quality backup and I think thats where his value is. He's also the kind of player you can use in a Taysom Hill role, to offer a running threat every now and then, and give defenses something else to prepare for.Arm talent is questionable. And Perkins was playing behind a scrub OL with no 1st team receiving talent…elusiveness buys time in the NFL for off schedule plays…I’m good with the decision to work with him.I’d rather keep Hekk as #3 at least he has game experience
And, with Perkins at QB we aren’t winning any games.
