Agreed. The good news is it’s early. Our super bowl year we made defensive adjustment and went and traded for Folwer.
I agree with you and it is a new defense cord and a short training camp, I think it will get better

I forgot to mention how proud of Jared Goff I was today.

He showed he can lead a big time comeback against a formidable team on the road.

Good Job Jared!

Still need better more rangy linebackers that can get to the outside edge faster and tackle. Maybe Hollins will get more time.

Floyd should know this defense well enough so he gets no passes from me. He’s not very good.

DBs looked confused but to be fair on some of those extended plays the pass rush has to get there and get Allen down. DBs cannot cover receivers for that long.

Hollins is a big rangy kid. Noticed him immediately. At this point all we really know is that Ebukam is not the answer.

Re: Floyd I differ from you a bit Elm. He's a strong side guy who does a lot of good things outside the rush. He didn't play well either but then the Bills do have a lot to say about that too.

The 4th quarter showed how good the pass rush could be if Staley simply allows them to attack. Staley is making a lot of guys look bad and it's the scheme not the players. His idiotic soft zone was shredded as I predicted it would be. Also, his soft zone wasted the sacks the pass rush got. Staley gets an F grade from me. I said his soft zone would allow a good team too much yardage to win a close game. This game proved his pass rush is better than he allows them to play, it also proved his soft zone secondary is a total joke.

I can't get too upset about this one. We were looking at a serious ass-whipping at halftime, and not only did we come back, we had the chance to win after taking the lead late. Bad teams don't recover from 28-3 halftime deficits, especially on the road against another good team. The Rams did. And did it on a second consecutive cross-country trip.

Yes, we have some work to do on the D, but at the same time, you probably learn more from a loss than a win. Plenty to learn from today, from Staley on down. And maybe up as well in terms of getting some help at positions we need help at.

I do think the PI call at the end was bullshit (it appeared like DW was trying to disengage and the receiver wouldn't let him). But then again, we had the JJ pick, which was IMO a very questionable call that went in our favor. And if the D doesn't give up a couple of 3rd and longs, the PI call is never allowed to happen.

Plenty of bright sides too - good game by Goff, good by Kupp, Hendo over 100 and handling the workload just fine, and offense seemed to move the ball well throughout.

We'll get over this one pretty quickly. Let's beat the Giants next week, then on to a Bosa-less San Fran (although they did get an upgrade at QB by virtue of Jimmy G's injury ... no blue font needed).

Second cross country away game.

Over a buck and a half rushing, on the road, against a tough run D, and being down three TD's at one point.

Goff and co almost pulled it out.

No bitching from me.

I've only watched the highlights but that sums it up nicely.
Great comeback.
Shaky finish.
Some work to do on defence, but this offense looks much improved from last year.

Ramsey got burned twice. And Sloman needs to go. Too many missed FGs. How about the kickers we released? Can we bring them back for a tryout?

It's a weird one. We should never have won that game... but we should never have lost that game.

But you know, if we beat the giants next week at home and we are 3-1 I will consider that a good fucking start.

I'm away to drink some ambiguous victory/defeat whisky because I dont know how to feel right now.

Speaking of the Gmen, I think they should enjoy the L.A.
ambience Saturday night because I don't really think Sunday afternoon is going to go well for them...I think the Rams might take today's frustration out on them...I think it's very possible that the Rams will beat the living shit out of them...

Aint paying that much to Ramsey for him to give up two touchdowns... especially when the rest of the defense lacks talent in so many areas.

So let me understand, on 3rd and 25 and 4th and 9, we had burgess, a rookie DB IN the game, we only rushed 4 when that wasn't working, and on 4th and 9, the initial coverage for diggs, who I hear is pretty good, was a safety and then burgess? What the fuck, fuck?

Way too many wide open bills receivers, and BTW, I have no confidence in sloman (I know but he doesn't deserve spell check). If I am a coach and it's 3rd and twenty fucking 5, I tell them that it's easy to ease up because, I mean, no one converts a 3rd and 25. They come close, like converting 2 consecutive 3rd and 16's to knock us out of the playoffs last year, but 3rd and fucking 25?? No way. But then you have players taking a play off, even by a little.

What you need to do is call time out or if you spent them you quickly huddle and say let's act like it's 3rd and 4 and you rush 5, which would have pressured Allen out of the pocket. There were at least 2 lanes where a 5th rusher would have forced Allen to move. And this wasn't the first or 2nd time that staley didn't rush 5 when he should have. Didn't we say goodbye to Wade because he couldn't adjust from what wasn't working?

It's a damn shame that we came all the way back with the defense and offense making great plays just to piss away a last minute lead.
