I didn’t actually watch the second half as I had prior commitments... and I’m kinda gutted I’ll watch the replay on games pass tomorrow

But I will say this that was the worst half of football I’ve ever seen from a mcvay coached rams team nothing was working and the defense was nothing short of disgusting

Do you send the house on that 3rd & 22? That would have been nice. No way he has time. Other than that back-breaker 1st down and the bad call at the end, I can live with the loss. Proud of our Rams!

Hard to be upset about the refs when you give up 3rd and 22 and 3rd and 9 when getting off the field likely seals the victory. And when you play as awful as the Rams did in the 1st half. The refs also gave us an INT that was highly questionable and a momentum changer. The Rams have themselves to blame for the loss, first and foremost.

The bogus OPI call still stings, notwithstanding the above. Although the "blame" for this L fairly rests with the Rams, the OPI call decided the game, in that if the refs did not throw that flag, the game would have ended with a turnover on downs. With the questionable INT call today (and the non-call we benefited from vs. the Saints a few years ago), there was still plenty of football left to be played. Who is to say the Saints don't fumble or miss the field goal? Here, the Rams just had to take a knee. I don't consider the OPI call against the Cowboys in week 1, which involved clear arm extension by a WR to get open, to even be in the same league as today's ref error or the Saints non-call.

I love Staley's half-time adjustments on defence. We were really missing that with Wade. But if the defence keeps starting so poorly... it's all for nothing. He needs to be better in the first half. Both in terms of defensive schemes and play calls, but also in having his players ready to go.

Aaron Donald is a machine. The others on the d-line... not so much. We are struggling to pass rush. If we can make they playoffs, hopefully we have Lewis and Robinson available. Those two could make a huge difference. Of course, by that time of the year, we might have currently healthy players no longer available. Fingers crossed we stay healthy. NFL football is in large part a war of attrition...

The secondary needs to pick up its socks. It is not even close to good enough right now, and that includes Jalen Ramsey. The entire first half, when the Buffalo WRs caught the ball, no Rams player was even close to being in the vicinity. It's mind boggling how that can happen for an entire half of NFL football.

I love Rapp against the run, but hate him in coverage. I was forgiving last year as he was a rookie, e.g. his gaff against San Fran late in the year to cost us the game. But he does not seem to be learning. Unfortunately for Rapp's bid to win his starting job back, pass coverage is a large part of a safety's job. I do expect Fuller will retain the starting job, which is a good thing, because a safety that cannot cover is not starting material to begin with.

Henderson looks great. The red-zone offence also is improved. Amazing how having a run game again instantly makes those things better, and launches this offense back to being among the best in the NFL. The o-line has vastly improved, which is the key to it all. Let's hope they can keep that up! There are still some times the o-line struggles, but overall, I am very pleased with this unit. It is vastly exceeding expectations.

McVay's timeout usage is atrocious and is going to cost us games. How is it that we seem to burn one every 1st quarter? And never have more than 1 available late in the game if we to launch a comeback and stop the clock? It's actually a big issue, and I like McVay.

No issues with a rookie kicker missing a FG from 50 yards+ out, against the wind, on the road. The issue is how badly Sloman missed, combined with his previous misses and how low his kicks often are. He does not inspire confidence. Let's cross our fingers and hope he grows with experience. Right now, I don't think he's the answer.

Buffalo is a good team. Allen is much improved. No shame losing to them. As much as I blame the Rams for their poor start, you have to credit the Bills for it too. Their defence was suffocating at times, although we generally did manage to move the ball well.

Goff appears to be bouncing back to form. I think the problem really was the league-worst offensive line play last year.

I love that the refs gave Allen a personal foul for throwing a tantrum after Donald tossed him like a sack of potatoes. (It was the other sack where he fumbled.)
Pretty sure there was a legit face mask by Allen before he got ragdolled

I thought the offense as a whole played great. Goff, Henderson, Kupp, Woods all balled out. And the o-line was great again against an solid Bills D.

We gave up a lot of passing yards to Dallas and coverage looked shaky, and even more so today. I hope Staley tweaks what he needs to, to make sure it fits our personnel. Because the D needs to improve and if it wasnt for AD, today would've looked a lot uglier on defense.

On McVay's TO usage, it is terrible. But there's no such thing as a perfect coach. I can deal with the terrible TO usage because of everything else McVay brings to the table.

Pretty sure there was a legit face mask by Allen before he got ragdolled

On the Donald sack? I could be wrong, but I didn't see it. I only saw Donald grab him by the collar.

Almost a great comeback! It was a very good effort led by McVay staying with the run. Hendu can do. The offensive line opened up some really nice holes too. Goff hung in there. Woods, Kupp, Hendu and AD stepped up too,

There are a lot of plays in this one that hurt the Rams effort. On the 3rd and 22 the defensive line held back a little bit. Not exactly sure why. Could be they didn't want to let up a big run by Allen or were a little tired.

Fuller was missed.

There was little pressure off the edges which let Allen settle in early.

The Bills scouted the Rams offense and took away the edges early.

Rams need to have TLew comeback quickly and cut back Ebu's snaps.

Hollins and Polite need to be in the rotation a little more.

This could be a very good learning lesson.

Need to watch some game video.

The call wasn't why we lost at all. We got gifted an INT earlier in the game. We lost due to first half defense and especially on third down when we knew they were passing.
It literally was though. Chickenshit fucking call too. You don't make that call with the game on the line knowing it changes the outcome. Absolute and fucking total bullshit. And I'm not a guy who gets all crazy about refs, I try to keep that shit in stride.

But if the call isn't made, we win the game. It sucks, because after all that other bullshit and mistakes and falling way behind in the first half the fact that the Rams were in that situation to get bent over by the refs on that is amazing.

I do think this team is going on a run. I think this loss is going to be just like the '99 loss in Tennessee remember that? We lost but the team fought back and found out some shit about themselves that helped them grow into a champion. (y)

I'm still in pain....I want to be on they great comeback train but I can't shake the loss. Not that we loss all great comebacks the team that comes back was obviously messing up for them to be down to make it a magnificent comeback.

So I know the rams did a lot of shit wrong no doubt and I'm thrilled about the way they came back but a comeback of that magnitude for any team should not be decided by a ref and a controversial call. You just don't throw that flag unless it's clear.

It would still hurt had we lost outright after that comeback but not that way.

One additional point I think Williams throwing his hands up like that made things worse. As if something had occurred. Every highlight I'm watching saying same thing marginal call.

Next 5 games before the bye

Giants
@Washington
@Whiners
Bears
@Dolphins

Then we go into the bye should be above .500.

Seattle
@Tampa (our last week we travel any kind of distance btw)
Whiners
@Arizona
Patriots
Jets
@Seattle
Arizona

Very nice schedule IMO. Next 5 are very winnable and no real travel after Tampa.

If you're the Rams, do you consider calling one of Cam Wake, Terrell Suggs, or Clay Matthews in hopes of grabbing up a rotational pass rusher who can offer a bit more on passing downs?
[/QUOTE]
Was thinking this very thing. I say call 'em all and bring 'em all in for a tryout and sign the one who looks the best. We have got to make some moves now so the new guy can get up to speed with this new defense.

I get why everyone is upset dude and it was a terrible call yes. But I dont ever put games on the refs unless it was the sole reason why a game was lost. We've been the beneficiary of too many calls to win games lately to be mad IMO.

To me this game is on Staley and the defense 100%. You cant perform like we did in pass coverage and expect to win, especially, especially, especially on key downs. Big plays on 1st or 2nd down or whatever hurt, but on multiple 3rd and 20+ to give up those plays is completely back-breaking.

And yea I do remember that run and think we still might go into our bye at 7-1. I honestly thought today was a coin flip for us, and was more concerned about the OL holding up. But they played tremendous and ironically it was the defense that failed us when I thought they would be the reason we won if we did. This team we have is very good, but I am concerned about the holes on defense. Our LBs are very below average overall, and our secondary outside of Ramsey has multiple question marks. Can we beat great teams when it matters when we have 4-5 starters on defense that shouldn't be NFL starters?

Yep. Weird comment. The game is over if the flag isn't thrown.
Also, and i'd have to see it again, but that pass looked WAY high and to the outside. The WR looked to be breaking inside. Uncatchable? Not sure.

Never should have been in that situation at the end. That 3rd and 22 and then then 3rd and long on the same drive and we give up the first downs on both. There are times when Troy Hill looks awful; you wonder why McVay still likes him. Still the Rams showed character and pride and so did Goff.

Hard game. Like others mentioned was looking really fucking depressing at 28-3. Helluva character show with that comeback too bad it was just a play or 2 short of a miracle. Th Bills just simply out game planned us and it took us too long to adjust. Secondary had some MAJOR fuck ups. Minus one throw Goff was GREAT! And the play where AD sacked, stripped, and recovered the fumble? I literally jumped up and yelled a t the TV “THATS AARON MUTHERFUCKING DONALD!!!” Which shocked the shit outta our non football friends who’s house we were watching it at. At the end of the day when I looked at the schedule when it came out, 2-1 seemed like a win.

Been trying to take my mind off it but man this one stings, we had it, we clawed and fought our way back to a lead and had the freaking game if just the D made the stops but that 3rd and 22 killed us and then the refs. I really hope we stomp the Giants next week, it can't come soon enough, I'm gonna be pissy all week

Hang the lost on McVay for picking his alma mater Sloman over Lirim Hajrullahu. Liam nails 53 yard FG.

Right on man I'm tracking what you're saying and all that. We only differ on the severity of that call really. :beer2::cool:
