I realized after I posted if you had seen him that you'd been at camp and filing reports.Oh yes, @bubbaramfan and I observed him every day we were there. He's regressed it appears.
Never viewed Perkins as a viable option. If the NFL had more active spots on a game day roster, he might be a guy you keep as a gadget player for a play or two a game, but that's about it. Plus McVay doesn't screw around with stuff like that like Asshole Face does.I realized after I posted if you had seen him that you'd been at camp and filing reports.
My bad.
Too bad about Perkins, he seemed to have some promise.
Yeah, I figured something like that. I just thought that Carolina would cut him, since they have Mayfield, Corral, and P.J. Walker.
You're not understanding what is meant by "saving". If they cut him or trade him prior to the season, they dont have to pay him 12.8 mill for 2022. That is what is considered "saved". However, they will then get hit with the remaining dead cap money. Currently, they are taking an annual hit of 4.2 mill, (signing bonus 3.1 mill, restructure 1.1 mill) and there are 3 years left of paying that. So if he is cut or traded, they "save" paying him 12.8 mill, but accelerate the 12.6 of dead money between 22 & 23. Its not really saving them much. "Saves" them 8 mill in 22 but then they pay a dead cap hit of 8+ mill in 23, AND dont have the playerOk addressing your first comment from what I've read and seen if is a post June 1st they save 12.9.
Quinn wants to continue his career with the Bears, even if he has three years and $52.6 million left on his contract. The Bears would save $4,425,000 in cap space if they trade Quinn this offseason and $12,900,000 if it's a post-June 1 designation.
His 18 mill is fully guaranteed so I cant see how/why they would release him. They dont save any cap space by doing so. If I was PJ Walker I wouldnt be signing a 1 year lease on an apartment though....Oh yes, if he's an outright cut then I definitely want him too.
I am a USC fan and I always thought Darnold would do well in the pros but the JETs broke him. He is done. Put a fork in him.Any chance we could pick up Sam Darnold for this year? I know that one or two of the USC fans wanted him, and he's a vet who has been a starter.

Sitting behind Stafford in the Rams system could possibly fix him thoughI am a USC fan and I always thought Darnold would do well in the pros but the JETs broke him. He is done. Put a fork in him.
Maybe in about 4 or 5 years like Jim PlunkettSitting behind Stafford in the Rams system could possibly fix him though
He was broken before he went to the Jets. Warts started showing in his 2nd season at USC, had he stayed another year he probably wouldnt have been a 1st rounder. Just too slow of a release. Too slow of a processor.I am a USC fan and I always thought Darnold would do well in the pros but the JETs broke him. He is done. Put a fork in him.
His second season I blame the coach - he sucked and it started to affect Darnold's gameHe was broken before he went to the Jets. I thought Sam Darnold was the real deal when he led USC to a victorious Rose Bowl.I am a USC fan and I always thought Darnold would do well in the pros but the JETs broke him. He is done. Put a fork in him.
That was something a lot of folks thought at the time and I was buying that too. But looking back at what he's been so far in the NFL it's hard to blame it all on coaching. His second season I blame the coach - he sucked and it started to affect Darnold's game
But after Darnold left, USC has gone even further downhill which I blame the coaching on. They have some decent QBs so they should have won more games if the coach was any good. He was absolutely terrible and I stated a couple years ago that I would no longer watch a USC game until he got fired. That was something a lot of folks thought at the time and I was buying that too. I think Mayfield gets the nod this year and Sam will be a backup the rest of the way. There's worse things though, so it's not like I feel sorry for him or anything.
Clay Helton was an absolute disaster. Pat Haden and Lynn Swann absolutely ruined the athletic department... fortunately, they brought a real pro in and we're now seeing the school move in a modern direction. The whole NIL thing is a pandora's box and I have no idea what the college football landscape looks like in a few years. I'm a Trojan.. but find myself less interested in college football than ever. But after Darnold left, USC has gone even further downhill which I blame the coaching on. I get to watch USC games again this year.
Yeah it may take awhile before I get fully invested in college football like i was during the Carroll years.Clay Helton was an absolute disaster. Yeah, same can be said for the OL if a QB makes one read and takes off running in pre season.Never viewed Perkins as a viable option. BTW, I fear it will be hard for us fans to judge the WRs in preseason because of his limitations.
It was easy to invest in those teams....Pete the Cheat had to get used to a smaller salary cap in the NFL.Yeah it may take awhile before I get fully invested in college football like i was during the Carroll years.

Nothing worse than a bunch of three and outs in preseason.
