C'mon Bro, you really think Jimmy G is sub Top 32?
I think he's a borderline starter/depth guy. Realistically somewhere from mid 20s to backup. I'd put him behind Foles for example, who is probably the best backup in the league.

The reason I give you shit, though, is because carrying a flag for a 9er QB on a Rams board is asking for it. :laugh3:

Fair enough, but I'm a guy who always "calls it as he sees it," and I have no problem giving praise to a rival competitor. I also think Kittle and Deebo are amazing great players, and I think Aiyuk is on his way as well.

I’m not so sure about this. Perkins looks awful. Perez hasn’t been given much opportunity but if I were the brain trust of the Rams, I’d put Perez on PS (he won’t want to stay there) and release Perkins.
Did you see Perkins at camp or something?

I keep waiting for the 9ers to change tact and decide to keep Jimmy. If Lance is struggling as badly as the reviews say how do you think you're better off without Garoppolo.

Things would look different if you had another option. But this entire move Garoppolo thing reeks of "let's eliminate that other QB the players will get behind when Lance sucks." And if that's the case here the Shanny regime might be in trouble because this league is hard on non-ready QBs.

Even with all his dumb shit he does it's hard to imagine that JG is not the best option for them this year. So hopefully he finds a spot and a deal gets done quick, because I don't want SF to have a fallback option. I want them to suffer.

I am on this train of thought as well.

49’ers are a better team with JG as fallback for when Lance craps the bed.

I wonder if San Fran/JG would consider a contract extension prior to Sep 1. If they truly have concerns about Lance, instead of getting hit for another 25 mill for JG, why not sign him to an extension, spread out the 22 cap hit and keep him on the team?
They could still trade him and accelerate the cap hit, but at least would be in position of leverage
Would behoove JG as well, he gets cut I doubt he'll see more than a 1 year deal for 7-10 mill

Toe is he whiners would rather attach a pick to trade him rather than cut him. Love it or hate it he isn't a back up but he is loved by teammates and assuming this whole Stafford thing isn't a media driven angle so if Stafford does have a bad game or stint they can all attack and say is your elbow the cause blah blah blah.

Now having said that it pains me to say Jimmy G would be the perfect get if he is willing to take the chance of not playing or playing either way everyone knows anything that comes within a mile of Sean Mcvay everyone wants so that alone would make him more attractive to other teams next season pardon the pun as we are all comfortable enough to say the dude is a good looking guy. Piggybacking off that again LA would give him even more opportunities yes I know San Francisco is close but it's different as well as learning from another genius and should he have to come in I mean let's face it all he has to do is be even on the vicinity as we should have open receivers everywhere. Especially should we bring Obj back.

I'm not cheerleadering for the move but if Staffords elbow is a concern then jimmy would be the best option to keep our dreams alive of defending our Superbowl crown.

Only other thing I would do other than Jimmy and I know some may laugh is if Pittsburgh is dumb and decides to go another route or approach them about trubinsky who I thought the Rams should have signed when free agency started to prepare for such an issue.

I actually like him and would love to see what he could do with Mcvay and these weapons and his legs on case the line proves to be a little soft.

I'd rather not see anything honestly and just have a healthy Stafford but 10% is truly worried.

Umm, what?
If the 9ers release him, somebody will offer him at least 10 mill. Plenty of teams have the space, or can make space. He's cleared from injury and is throwing. Still wouldnt be surprised if he's traded

Ok addressing your first comment from what I've read and seen if is a post June 1st they save 12.9.

Quinn wants to continue his career with the Bears, even if he has three years and $52.6 million left on his contract. The Bears would save $4,425,000 in cap space if they trade Quinn this offseason and $12,900,000 if it's a post-June 1 designation.

Even if it's only for a trade they save 12.9 however when you do it as a cut it's the same 12.9 on over the cap.

Second the Jimmy G thing is just something everyone and their mother is bringing up. Nobody said anything was going to happen imminent or even want it to happen although if it did happen I wouldn't object Incase Stafford elbow explodes which would kill our season like him or not he would at least keep us alive to repeat Wolford whom I like I don't believe would. Again having said that it's just fodder to discuss while we impatiently wait for the season to start. I think we are all aware of what it would probably take and how stupid the niners would be but one never knows how things can shake out. That's all

Any chance we could pick up Sam Darnold for this year? I know that one or two of the USC fans wanted him, and he's a vet who has been a starter.

No chance. Doesn't he make like 20 Million this year??? Only if Carolina picks up 18M.

As we've seen with the Rams these last few seasons anything is possible. With the Rams the salary cap is just a vague suggestion.

Yeah, I figured something like that. I just thought that Carolina would cut him, since they have Mayfield, Corral, and P.J. Walker.

I think Wolford is a decent backup. He isnt gonna win you games, but he does have some playing time and he works under some of the best in the business.

Perkins....im super intrigues about. His athleticism is just something we havent had in....idk...forever... So i will enjoy watching him in preseason.
He won ganes when Goff went down and i dare say hes better now than he was then.
If San Fran were to release Garopollo, he would in turn be on a plane to Seattle within minutes, unless the Giants got him first
I agree 100%.

I pray the release him so the Whiner faithful can enjoy of full season of changing the mattress! Lol

For McVay to change out the backup QB this year the option would need to be significantly better than Wolford. He knows the offense very well. Anyone they bring in would also need to already know the protections, because if they don't they're gonna be held back a bit on what to expect until they come up to speed. I'm sure there's some QBs out there who could learn the protections quick if they don't already know them, but those are also the guys who are gonna cost in trade.

So Darnold for example I don't think would cut it. It would have to be a guy who gets McVay excited. Now if Jimmy gets cut and is interested in the Rams maybe that gets McVay excited enough to do it but I figure given Wolf's camp he's gonna be the guy this year and they reload backup next offseason.
