It isn't even about arguing, you can get in there and celebrate and compare notes with people after a win just as you can a loss. The true telling thing about some posters is they don't participate in the celebration thread but they sure as hell are in a vent thread a lot :D
Its because of expectations we set for this team. Last week they met those expectations but this week they did not and were not even close. More than anything though this game was so maddening because the Rams beat the Rams. We held Miami to 100 total yards. If we just play a conservative game in offense we win this game like 17-7

The phins didn't need to do anything on offense.

80 yard fumble return for td.

70 yard punt return for a td.

Fumble return to the 1 yard line. TD next play.

.
Yep. If we played them again we would probably beat them. I mean this could be a lot worse. At least we didn't lose like we did last year to Baltimore that looked like varsity vs freshmen.

BTW if I'm a Shehawks fan right now I'd be kind of pissed. McVay is tough enough with two weeks to prepare. But he's even tougher after games where his team does dumb shit.

Personally, i would be much more willing to have that sit Goff, replace Goff, release Goff, trade Goff conversation if that conversation included some "viable" solutions as to who and where our next franchise QB would be coming from.

Are ya gonna draft him in the first rd? Lol.
Which veteran are you gonna trade for and what are you going to give up for a QB who doesn't suck?

Without solutions that talk is just venting.

I agree Mojo but at this point we cant do much with his contract..and who's going to trade for him? He's on pace to have a worse year than last year in most categories and we actually have a running game and good oline this year. Truth is he hasnt been the same since 2018. All we can hope for is for him to play better for the next few seasons. We can opt out of his contract after 2022 and take only a $8M cap hit instead of $32M. By then we will have a 1st round pick and keep trying to find a guy that can go win a super bowl.

When Goff is playing well it's kind of a tease because his ball is so great, and sometimes hes pinpoint accurate and gets hot. He looks like a complete stud. But after 5 years and still not improving in major areas I seriously wonder how much McVay has maximized his talent. All the playaction, all the misdirection, it's all trying to simplify reads and give him an advantage in the passing game. Which good coaching should...but when those things dont work, what are we left with at QB? We have a top 5 play designer and play caller in the NFL. How good would Goff look in another system?

I hated Vilma today just like everyone else, but he is an ex-pro bowl LB and one thing he said is true regarding why we roll Goff out. 1) He is good throwing on the run so we take advantage of that skill set, 2) we move the pocket and it helps him avoid pressure, which is when he plays his worst, 3) it narrows his reads to a half of field. And to me this is the most telling regarding his development in year 5. The flood concepts we run are 3 layer throws to one side or the other, and that is the staple of our playaction boot throws. When Goff has to go shotgun, sit in the pocket, and read a 4-5 person progression, while navigating the pocket, while avoiding pressure, trying to decipher a disguised look, he is not a good QB. His accuracy goes to shit a lot. Of course he makes the occasional big play in these situations, he made a big 3rd down throw to Woods today over the middle, but a vast majority are off target or lead to bad plays. I think McVay has realized this and this is why our offense is built the way it is.

First week or two Staley was the only coach people wanted to fire. Now he's the only one worth keeping :D

Gotta love GDT and vent threads. Think it took 2 days last week after the win to get to this many pages in the celebration thread too.

maybe that is because we have only had 3 vent threads all year and the rest of the year there is an almost optimism required for posts

Somewhere Samuel Sloman is smiling.

Why? It's not like he was a raving success who was unjustly cut.

We definitely need another kicker besides KB, and I'm certainly not going to join his fan club anytime soon. But I have little doubt Sloman would have missed the same kick, and the way he was kicking and the way the game went, it probably would have been blocked and returned for a TD.

God this game . . .

At first I thought this was supposed to be a screen but it just looks like an unblocked free rusher on a normal pass play. Goff goes to his hot route but it's covered by a defensive tackle? WTF? Goff needs to see that DT but this play design is bad.

This is literally the same play with the same hot route over the middle

I know henderson is running a route but he needs to pick up that block.

Three deep routes. Poor blocking by Everett. Goff needs to hold onto that ball while he's going down. Why isn't there a route short of the stick in case of pressure?

This feels a lot like last year. A fast start and then a roller coaster of close wins and face plant. The only difference is this year its on the offense.

sure was. usually a free rusher should have a receiver behind him, not in the middle of all those defenders.

This is literally the same play with the same hot route over the middle

goff has got to see that free rusher coming. he can't be oblivious to the rush that comes from his right.

the 2nd int his arm got hit as he was throwing it. stuff happens.

the 2nd fumble, man, he can't let that happen. that play especially was bad from him.

Realize this is vent thread, but I don’t buy all of the above

I’d really like to know what O’Connell’s role is. Seemed like early in the season we were giving him credit for the offense, but lately it seems like the same McVay going away from the run between the 20’s and too conservative in the red zone.

You guys can sit here and blame the whole team if you want.

The reality is the fault is in 1 persons hands

Mine... for 2 reasons. Spent too much time in the GDT, which caused me to lose my good vibes. After that I just didn't feel like drinking anymore and nursed just 2 beers for the last 3 qtrs.

Sorry

Exactly. He's hyper focused. Doesn't even look, it's like he's thinking he's got full protection there. In the NFL the QB has to know his protections and anticipate, that's part of the job.

I don't like the hots, btw. But regardless the result should be Goff dishing it quick because it's not there, taking the intentional grounding, and you get a FG (well hopefully on the field goal lol).

Again people are missing the point and I'm going to be quoted on this more I'm sure. It's people wanting to bitch at a loss more than celebrate a win. It's simple and we can see it every week.

do you think it is more of the manner in which they lost? Because even you would have to admit that was an ugly game
