I think Mcvay and Nate made it easy on Ty. Guessing the way they coached up the pass plays made it easy on the kid.

He did show the quick processing to alternate reads, and threw with confidence and accuracy.
Yeah and he really didn't have any tight window throws.

I'm not one of these guys who's gonna blow smoke up Ty's ass but I actually feel a bit protective of him right now cause he really didn't have any adversity at all (starters, game-planned defense, real pass rush) and if he faulters once he does people will have a skewed version of him due to performances like this.

QBs in the preseason are never as good as they seem nor as bad as they look. Or as Nate put it: "But they often say in this league that you can’t tell who can play in the NFL in the preseason, only who can’t. "

Happy for him. Stack the days. He's got things to work on that we barely saw in this game (though McVay did confirm what I suspected on tape that he - at least in one play - was going through his reads too quick. I think it was probably a few plays where he did that.)

39 years in May for my lovely wife and I

Neither Brees or Smith had his wheels, right? His ability to move around will add an additional layer to what those two guys had.
I recall reading a quote from Snead a couple years ago where he thought their next QB would almost certainly have legs allowing for escapability at the least, or words to that effect. I saw Simpson bail a tad early at times but he kept his head up and found an outlet instead of just taking off and running, like many rookies would do. Showed some skills that I was wasn't aware of; I saw only his playoff game with Bama last year, so not a good choice for insight. It was good, but we need to see him replicate it vs these defenses primarily made up of cuts and PS players.

I've gone back and watched Ty's highlights a few times now, and I'm dumbfounded at what I am watching. Has there ever been a rookie QB play that well in his first preseason game? I saw comfort in the pocket, pristine mechanics, and a QB comfortably navigating and moving through progressions.

What did we find here?

Brees no. Smith, maybe. Simpson looked fast in college but so do plenty of QB's until they play with the elite. We will see.

One thing I will note, is Simpsons drop is very fast. Does remind me of Brees in that way. Everything is fast, the drop, the read and the release. It's very promising.

Les Snead (and McVay) knew in December.

Definitely was over excited, and needs to calm down and relax. The good thing is he will be QB3 this year and hopefully not take a significant snap. There should be no "crowning" here, but this kid is a football player and will get better gradually and exponentially as time goes on, and we will serve him when he's ready, like a fine wine.

Didn't focus on Keenan. That's not good to hear what you saw. I thought I saw Limmer get abused on one snap but havent reviewed the film to make any real statements.
Just watched the game casually to see who might really grab my attention, and I'd have to say that Connors, Hunter, Klare, Baily, Redman and the O line in general, caught my eye. And #15.
First game in, so let's see who can build on this experience.
And hey, X ......... you'll be fine, too.
Just don't ever do THAT again, please.

White RB with juice that can catch the football. After McCaffery , Podolak is the first guy that came to mind.
I was thinking Riggins.

If you guys want to go in that direction, how about ...

I thought Blake Hance did a nice job at RT, after Trost went out. Thought he was more of a guard, but before being replaced by Henderson, I felt Hance had a decent game.

Austin Blaske played LT and was solid. The 3rd goal where Bennett rushed his throw is because Blaske's guy was closing in. Other then that, though he held up well at LT.
For at least this one pre season game, there should be no complaints about the line.
Our backs had several "burst" runs and overall looked very respectable with pass pro.
Let's see how they do next week.

Have to admit I didn't pay close attention to Keenan but the box score said 5 tackles and a sack. Defense overall gave up 4 fgs, no TDs. Might have to rewatch, maybe a little too critical after 1 preseason game?
