?
You mean they changed run scheme?
If so, that had been talked about, pre-22.. and I don’t know if it relates.

Didn’t Cle do almost exclusively 4 man front and a ton of single-high coverage?
Would be interesting if he would change schemes back to 4-3. Although Young wouldn't fit that very well, so probably not.

I'd promote Henderson over retreading Staley personally. But like we've talked about he doesn't usually promote from within. I'll throw a name out of left field at you :)

Brandon Lynch

He's been DB coach in Cleveland for the last 3 years. He's very young, something we know McVay isn't afraid of, and he's coached under a very good DC for those 3 years.
Henderson is gone.

Lynch? Know nothing about him ... will look it up now, though

I'm hoping Morris does well as a HC, he really appears to be a great guy. From what I'm reading Falcon fans are not happy about this.

Yeah Hendo is gone forgot about that. Lynch is a name I've heard some players and coaches speak highly of. He coaches under a DC we all speak highly of in Schwartz. He's a name outside the box and somebody not in the normal McVay friends circle so to speak. We can generally count on McVay going outside for a coordinator promotion though.

Yes, 80% that and maybe 20% of combined 2-high plus Cover-4. 6/8

Gap control front with wide DEs. Kills OZ, but is vulnerable to gap-blocking in the middle...counters. traps.

Old adage, play tight they run outside. Play wide, they hit the middle gaps.

Schwartz plays wide --- wants to kill edge runs.
Fangio scheme --- play tight, spill RB outside where S and LBs stop it.

They wanted Bellicheat I'm sure. But Blank seems like a guy who listens to his football people like Stan does. And the thinking is Bill wanted control and was throwing around names like Patricia and McDaniel who have had massive recent failures and both those thing likely turned the football people talking to Blank away from hiring Bill. At least that's speculation I've heard today.

According to Next Gen Stats, the Panthers had both of their outside corners in press coverage the least amount of time. Dolphins the 2nd least. Wish we got to see where the Rams were.

Evero is a Fangio guy. and Fangio is Fangio.

Rams played more in 2023 but in 2021 and 2022 Rams would be like them but it's still not going to be high. Guessing 10-15% just off that chart...

Congrats to Rah, I think this loss may exceed the compensation. I hope we build on this D's existing pieces more than rebuild. Usually DC's make personnel changes. I would expect an active FA period and D heavy draft

Well damn - I don't get to complain about Raheem soft packages anymore.

Actually I will miss the guy since he did do a good job this year with very inexperienced players.

The only thing I disliked this year was his 3rd and 10 to 20 defense. I have already posted the results in another thread and it backs up my claim. Maybe it was better than a lot of other teams but giving up over 50% success rate in over half the games was too high imho.
Coaches coach players play and we didn't have the horses
If you are an up and coming coach, working for the Rams is a pretty good stepping stone to advance your career.
Absolutely although Rah is been there done that but yes the McVay launching pad

And #26 overall in the NFL in points allowed, and with a roster of better defenders than the Rams
Yeah people are blindly fascinated by his blitz % and don't pay attention to how his actual defense is. He's the least appealing candidate to me that fans have come up with.

Same. I wish him the best. I trust McVay will find a good replacement.

Everyone should hop over to the falcons reddit they are in a complete meltdown. :laugh3:

I am happy for Raheem and the Rams.

Raheem is a hell of a man and as a person is rock solid as a leader of men. In that aspect we are loosing someone, in regards to his football DC skills I have not been a fan to say the least.

His scheme and play have proven to be below average. That being said I will say he adjusted his philosophy last year and it seemed to be working a lot better with lesser talent.

Time to find a legit DC and STC again to match the offense.

Ps hope Rah kicks fucking ass in Atlanta.

Isn’t a big part of the reason that so many teams play more zone than man coverage due to the fact that there are fewer corners capable of playing man, and it’s easier to find corners suited for zone?

Belichick would probably be a good DC. He gets along pretty well with McVay.

Minter is going with Harbaugh to the Chargers.
It hasn't been reported that he's signed on with the Chargers. Until thats a done deal, can't assume that'll be the case. McVay and a big ass bag of Kronke money could convince him otherwise. Never say never.
