I think even those of us arguing would agree that we fully support whatever QB trots out there. I have no doubt that @FrantikRam will fully support Goff if he's the guy (if I didn't feel that way, I wouldn't be wasting time arguing with him; I didn't block him like I did the guys who seem to root more for Goff to fail than for the Rams to win), and I'll fully support Wolford. If it is Wolford, I hope he throws for 300 yards, rushes for another 100, and scores 5 TDs. I care about winning far more than I care about who is at QB.

Yep 100%. I LOVED Goff's performance last week and if we were in warmer weather Id want to start him regardless of the thumb. With the weather I fully trust McVay to make the best decision for the team

Sorry but IMO its all BS. There isn't a QB in the NFL including the GOAT who didn't have an occasional season where he looked out of sync. McVay's offense isn't fooling people like it was originally. There has been a lack of execution not only by Goff but by the RBs, WRs, TEs and o-line. IMO this has more to do with the lack of a real offseason and limited practice time.
This is all true. And we know well the probs we have had across the board. But in the NFL QBs get too much cred and too much blame and that isn't gonna change.

I mean this season McVay's "genius" sheen wore all the way off. Doesn't matter that he had those roster issues or that nobody had picked the Rams do to anything because of the roster issues. Same goes for the QB. The shit's unfair but that's the league. I mean look at Darnold that dude was a top pick and his name is shit around fans and media was it all his fault? Guys get shit on and fall by the wayside constantly and it's crappy but that's the pressure you get with the position.

There is like 7 different back-and-forth "arguments" going on here.

Personally I have found bong tokes to be helpful for QB discussions.

you literally doubted he can return to 2018 form because he was getting so much help from everyone including his coach in his headset and a gimmicky offense the NFL has now caught up to. So now if someone disagrees with you its a victim mentality LMAO ok bud.

No. It is possible to believe that Goff and the offense had a lot of things go right in 2018 AND believe that Goff and his skill set played a role in what happened that season.

Why this has to be an either or proposition in your eyes makes little to no sense to me. If it were the way you state, even I could have been the freaking QB.

No one is playing any type of victim. But, this is the 2nd (maybe 3rd) time in this thread you've taken a statement of mine and instead of simply reading the lines, you've tried to read in between them and have been mistaken.

That could open up a can of worms. If you think it's the QBs job to put up points in spite of the supporting cast, what is your assessment of Goff this season? Surely below average? The PPG for the Rams are below average.

Were just going to keep going around in circles so we'll just have to agree to disagree I guess. I'll just leave it with I'd be thrilled with Goff this year if he played every game like Wolford did after his shaky start - which I think is excusable because it was his first start. But in the interest of fairness I'll say I'd be thrilled if Goff played every other game exactly like Wolford and then the other games like Wolford did after the shaky start. THRILLED.

8 bad INTs, no fumbles and I'll bet there won't be 16 dropped TDs and 16 fumbles on the goaline

Well below average. I could say that Goff's performance fell off dramatically after Whit's injury, and that would be true. I could criticize the OL and the lack of a deep threat. That would also be true. But at the end of the day, Jared hasn't played well enough this year. I might be more willing to overlook some of the issues he had if not for the hero ball and boneheaded mistakes. Simply put, he was a bottom 10 QB this year and needs to step it up. I liked how he saw the field against Seattle. His decision making was much improved. I am hopeful that'll continue.

You and I are on the same page. Apologies for the back and forth.

All good. Debate gets heated here sometimes. I don't take it personally. I hope you didn't either. If I didn't respect you, I wouldn't even bother.

Here’s my worthless take, Rams are 7 point road dogs, I’ve been an NFL fan for let’s say 4 plus decades, 85 times outta 100 that team gets summarily dismissed from the bye team and that’s just the way it goes

Defense and a strong run game travel well...this too I know

im not even going to comment further on the comedy this thread has somehow become, AFAIC this is an incredibly simple decision

At the end of the day, let’s hope we get this done, however something leads me to believe the , yep “I told you so nice guy” will regale us with a postgame Bow if it goes wrong...it doesn’t have to be this way guys

Carry on

I never take any of this stuff personally. From a life perspective, I already invest too much into the Rams/football in general.

If Wolford starts and the Rams fall behind 21-3 , do you take Wolford out and stick Goff back in ?
I’d say if we are down 21 to 3 we have bigger issues. The direct answer is you’d have the option, coach would weigh his options at that point.

Emotions and debate often come off differently than the poster intended. Do I think there is too much consternation over what is being said here? Yep. But I'm not of the thinking that this thread is as sideways as it may appear. We'll disagree on things and agree on others. Moderators will generally let that stuff play out unless personal attacks take center stage.

Party on dudes.

In all seriousness, I’ve enjoyed Silver’s work over the years, particularly his draft war room recaps.

In this instance, though, I’d just say this...

Mike Silver molests collies.

Even if Goff didn’t break his thumb, he needed McVay to kick his ass to get him moving in the right direction. That’s McVay’s job.

Goff’s reads, decisions and a lot of his throws have been terrible since the Miami game

He was playing like shit and still is. He didn’t really do anything except show some guts and get lucky that those crap throws were not picked off.

I said it in another post, Goff needs to put in some serious time and invest in his career this coming off season. Right now he is a liability on this team.

I think Goff's been dealing with loss of confidence because he knows McVay's disappointed in his play. Which is what I got from Silver. At this point if that is true the answer for him is to play like the guy who we saw vs Tampa. Do that and everything will take care of itself.

But I also think if Goff makes a huge stink he'll be in the wrong. Because even with the issues that we know the offense have outside of his play, when you play poorly for a team that is otherwise in the deep playoff hunt you can't really be throwing stones.
