For sure, it was 100% obvious they were open to trading up and it seemed they were interested in the idea within the top 4-9 picks which tells me it probably wasn't for Brock Bowers like many here had speculated.

Last year the apparently wanted to trade up for Gibbs but we couldn't get any takers.

All in all I'm happy how the draft fell and who we took.

My only one gripe is giving up our one 5th round pick this year, that would have been prime territory to take a legitimate LB prospect right there to pair with Jones.
I thought it was confirmed that they wanted Bowers

The video made it clear they wanted to trade up to the Jets spot at 10. But it never mentioned who they wanted. The assumption was Bowers. But I haven't seen any confirmation anywhere. For all we know it coulda been for a tackle. There were some good ones available.

Haven’t seen that confirmed any where?
I am fairly certain it was confirmed, IIRC it was either an interview or article saying that when they couldnt get the trade up for him they focused on Verse at 19

My guess is they were after Bowers.

But that aside I have a crazy conspiracy theory bouncing around in my head that they were really after Nix, and Stafford knew it which is why he wants more security money. Not something I think is likely, mind you. But I would think both QB and LT would be possibilities if they liked any of the options in that range.

If they said it was for Bowers that would surprise me, because it's something they wouldn't really talk about, I haven't seen said video where they admitted it. So far as we know it's all speculation which is all well and good but utterly unprovable again unless they said as much.

I think the consensus here it was Bowers because of all the assumptions which I never bought but never seen anything confirmed what’s so ever even no after searching.

I agree with Merlin. I think it was for a QB and wanted to jump ahead of Denver for Nix as Asshole Face was known to have an affinity for Nix.

Once those closed up it was wait and see who falls.

The trade compensation makes more sense for a qb than a te.

I agreed with you yesterday when you posted that you had not seen a confirmation the trade-up target was Brock Bowers.

However, after watching this NFL Films documentary "NFL Draft: The Pick Is In" on Roku (link has been posted), it seems pretty clear that the initial trade-up target was Bowers; and the secondary target was Byron Murphy.

So you’re saying The Rams did some nice editing? They are good at it & make there own season videos.

I’m just wondering at what point were they after Jared Verse ? Maybe Bowers was the target thinking any of the 3 would get to The Rams.

I don’t think The Rams wanted Turner & Latu had the medical.I bet if The Rams redid a mock they would’ve done it the same way & couldn’t be happier.

That would have been a couple PILLS to Swallow. I don’t really see the benefit for either.

The Rams sure didn’t mind wasting there 2nd rd pick next season to have drafted Fiske after the Jared Verse pick.

IMO with the 2024 draft class The Rams have already won 2 more games this season from that Vegas line.

You go LT or QB The Rams are looking at the Future & that 2nd rd pick in 2025 would be a value pick.

Having Hoecht leading the way on the 2nd team D is better than Noteboom & A.Jackson on the 2nd team.

No ... not at all.
This is an NFL Films product.

You should watch it.

They are good at it & make there own season videos.
This was NOT put-out by the Rams.

Again ... You Really should Watch It.

Maybe Bowers was the target thinking any of the 3 would get to The Rams.
No. It's clear, the Rams knew neither Bowers, nor Byron Murphy would make it to #19.
McVay actually says those exact words.

Really Dude ... Just Watch it.

I don’t think The Rams wanted Turner & Latu had the medical.

Turner?
You're killing me here.

Seriously ... Watch It!

Why watch it when he already has all the answers. Usually the wrong ones but he has them.

I am really excited to see this Verse / Fiske combination, but I was fully in the Bowers camp.

Make the offense unstoppable. I liked that strategy too.

For those interested but are too busy to watch the entire Program "NFL Draft: The Pick Is In" on Roku (link was posted), the majority of the Rams' related material appears between the 40-minute and 65-minute marks.

Good idea to watch from the beginning, and fast-forward through most of the non-Rams' stuff which is fluff. Better to fast forward because there's some Rams' material before and after the above-noted time period.

There's so much focus on the NFL Draft. A ton of information comes-out over time (before and after the Draft); and that allows for reasonable speculation and opinions are drawn. However, it's arrogant to believe any us KNOW what the Rams were thinking and intended; and what transpired through the Draft process.

The Rams material in this Program removes a ton of the speculation.

It was Bowers and Murphy (in that order) targeted for a trade-up; and we now know exactly what was offered. Verse was 3rd on their list and highly regarded, with Fiske and two un-named players with or behind him. They were not going to trade-up for Verse but would have traded-back if he was not available at #19. With the trade-back, they likely would have taken Fiske or one of the other two (un-named) prospects. After getting Verse, they were aggressive and thrilled to add Fiske with the trade-up in Round Two.

Early in the Program, before the start of the Draft or very early in Round One, Snead says to McVay:
"If we get Bowers, Murphy or Verse, and even Fiske" ... then someone adds ... "that's a good day's work baby"

I read the same things you did yesterday and it was confirmed—bowers was the initial target.

…but that would have sucked.

It is a generally excited mood regarding the Rams defense right now. I can’t see how the Rams could have improved the defense if they gave up that much for bowers. I would be far less optimistic going into camp without Verse and Fiske.

It was a near perfect draft Perfect epuld have been just not giving up the extra 5th in the Fiske trade... Or what would have been even better had they gotten a pick back next yr since they gave up that 25' 2nd and the 24 5th. Would have been great just to get a 5th back next yr since they don't have one in 25'.

Having said all that, glad they got Fiske as I really don't think losing Donald will be as catastrophic as we once thought it would be. He is being replaced by numbers and more options that will keep offenses guessing where the pressure is coming from.
