Just heard on espn that rams are trying to trade for stafford. Could just be a rumir

Please only let this be a rumor. If we give up picks for Stafford, I'll lose a lot of faith in this front office.

I hope the Rams aren't judging players on stats and who was "top 10" and they're watching the tape

Watch the tape. They'll quickly see an average QB.

I'd be surprised if the Rams did anything other than a courtesy call to kick the tires. Because I think McVay wants mobility and you don't get that with Stafford.

My bet is that Snead told Holmes he can leak this to try and get the 49ers to raise their offer. It hurts SF and helps a friend. I don't see a scenario where this move makes much sense.

Remember that playoff game stafford won? Yeah me neither

Indeed. He stunk against Seattle the last time he was in the playoffs and choked away the game against Dallas prior to that, after Detroit had a 20-7 lead in the 3rd quarter.

I am amazed that Stafford suddenly became a good QB at age 32 almost 33. Imagine if we stick with Goff how good he'd be at 33 considering he's already better than Stafford. The only "good" thing about Stafford is he's cheap.
It may still go down that way. Maybe McVay looks at things differently after he simmers down. The dude takes losses hard.

Note that I don't think that is likely after Snead's conference. But never know.

So since our 26 yr old QB has "turnover issues" on yrs 4 & 5 of his career we will trade for a guy who in his 4th & 5th yr of his career threw 17 & 19 Ints.

To make this more clear... Goff threw 29 INTs the last two yrs... Stafford, at the same point in his career, threw 36.

Oh, and he only threw 3 less last yr than Goff did.

I just I can't even fathom thinking Stafford at his age with his past is an upgrade over Goff it's baffling.

And that was with Calvin Freaking Megatron Johnson to throw too!!!

That makes all the sense.

I mean, I think there's a reason the 9ers were working through the night to finalize the deal.

I think they do it because the 9ers will get to a point where they opt out and that lowers any future bargaining power.

I think they get it done this weekend.

Being able to announce the trade Super Bowl week means a lot of jerseys and team hype going into the off-season which means a lot coming off of a 6-10 season, I think.

Take this article for what one will. I agree that this sounds like something the Lions leaked to up the ante with the 49ers. Or possibly that the Rams leaked this to let the Texans know they may be off the market soon. We’ll see how this plays out.

I just think arm talent alone I would rather have Stafford. Just I’m in the minority here

Those same 2 years Stafford threw 49 TDs to Goff's 42 TDs.

Using math, they're basically the same guy.

Worst move Rams could do. Goff is way better than Stafford. Stafford had mcl surgeries in 18/19. He was been in 3 playoff games in 11 years. He is a total underachiever.

Assuming we're talking about 2013 and 2014, Stafford threw 51 TDs to Goff's 42 TDs. But the Rams' offense produced 81 TDs to the Lions' 77 TDs. I'm sure somebody will argue that Stafford had no running game, but his running game was actually solid in 2013 (Reggie Bush ran for 1000 yards). It sucked in 2014, but our running game sucked in 2019. Plus, Stafford had Calvin fucking Johnson. But what differentiates the two of them in their early careers are Goff's 2017 and 2018 seasons.

It's one thing to say their stats are more or less equivalent and another to say they're the same qb. But it begs the question, what exactly would Stafford bring to the table that Goff doesn't?

I haven't heard anyone anywhere offer any explanation of why the Rams might be interested in Stafford (if they actually are). It seems to make no sense.

Is McVay that desperate just to get rid of Goff? I hope not.

I think a lot of people are overlooking the kind of QB Stafford is and what he brings to the table. Stafford has been underrated for a long time. He would definitely be an upgrade over Goff, albeit a smaller one than Watson obviously. He is older, and has battled some injuries recently, and doesn't offer mobility. So I get people not wanting to make the move. Giving up a lot of picks for him I agree doesn't make sense. But IF we were to make this move, we would have upgraded at QB. But I personally don't think it's worth it.
