Ramsey is interesting. While he's definitely lost a step or even two, he does play center field pretty well. He's also fantastic against the run. I'd almost be tempted to bring him in as a WLB on passing downs. He most certainly would be better against the pass than Landman or Speights and I wouldn't be worried about him if the opposing team decided to run at him.

I don't remember Ramsey blaming others while with the Rams, I only remember him slapping Rapp in the face because he was always out of position.
I'm not sure the Steelers are even interested in trading him. He is getting paid a ton also, likely league high for safety, which he started playing last year while being paid as a top CB.

They re-structured his deal and by trading him, they'd be out of his deal with a little cap savings.
His total comp for '26 is gonna be almost 20 mill which seems an awful lot

I can almost guarantee that the Steelers will probably renegotiate his contract as they have a new HC in the building. Obviously this is me guessing.

He played deep middle and box about 90 snaps each this season. He'd often rotate out of nickel when teams would motion the slot receiver so he can definitely do it. It's a part of what made him so good before injury last year. I will say, I think sitting him at "mostly" deep middle wouldn't be a great use of his skills though we don't play a ton of 3 deep. Ton of cover 2 this season though.
You are probably correct that he will handle it well. But things can look different when snap percentages change. If he were to handle all the snaps in that deep middle role maybe opposing defenses test him more.

well, like I said, I don't think deep middle is a good use of his skills and if I'm being more detailed, I think he'd get cooked there. We currently don't have a safety on the roster who could play deep middle regularly. We get away with Kinchens, Curl and Lake playing deep middle cause they only do it a partial amount of the time and often when we're rotating out of two high first. I wouldn't want any of our guys and especially Lake playing it regularly.

I heard a stat on Seattle how they had the best run defense while playing in a light box, since the 2020 Staley led Rams D.

Who were the guys we had then playing in a light box? Obviously Ramsey was good against the run, who else? I know Williams was a starting CB. Fuller? Johnson? Can't think what the configuration was. That's pre Earnest Jones at LB.

The key to that working is your DL.

In 2020 the Rams had A'Shawn Robinson, Brockers, and AD. That's 3 great run defenders.

Seattle has Lawrence, Leonard Williams, and Murphy. All three are very good run defenders.

This is why in addition to improving the secondary I feel Fiske needs to be upgraded. He's a liability in run defense.

Thought about this and remembered that Leonard Little was also very good vs the run. I forgot about him.

Fiske is the guy you put in there on third and long, 4 minute, or when a team abandons the run because they're down big. I'd like to see him improve vs double teams but he earns his keep for what he adds.

Rams just need to add more beef for the rotation. Having a good young NT behind Ford with fresh legs would do wonders.

I agree on Fiske's usage - a designated pass rusher. They are, however, giving him starting snaps, causing him to play too many snaps against the run where he's a liability. If we draft a real 5T to start, we can put Fiske in his proper role as you outlined.

I may be in the minority, but I don't see the big need for a backup NT. That's why they drafted Ty Hamilton, who I think they'll give another year to see if he produces.
