You and @jrry32 he and I have talked about this before. Good player lots of talent but the man has never played a full season worth of games. If we were to go for him I'd hope it was a low salary with game played incentives. I wouldn't trust him to play for us though, again love the talent hate the injuries.
If we can get him at a reasonable price, I like it. He's a good blocker and athlete. I'd also be very happy if we made a play for Isaiah Likely. Think he's going to outplay his next contract.

I would take Ramsey to replace Curl - perfect position for Ramsey at his age. Just need a smart player.
I would also, unfortunately, he is under contract until 2029 so not sure taking him is an option.

Regarding an actual FA from the Steelers, I still like Samuel Jr and, according to reports, he played pretty well in his little time on the field last season.

He would only need to be a complimentary piece in our TE room.

Having a solid player like him as a 2nd or 3rd option would be helpful.

And that comes back to two things first is money he's a guy that's made money the last few years are we going to pay him? And two how well does he compliment anybody if he's not healthy?

I get it he has some talent and he's improved as a blocker. But the man simply cannot stay on the field.

I agree with all points.

He would need come at a reasonable price.

Leaving Cleveland to come to a Super Bowl contender, may be enough to get him here.

IMO, they should move Quentin Lake into Curl's spot and then re-sign Roger McCreary to take over as the slot CB.
Certainly an option. I'd like to see Lake running the deep middle. Not sure he'd be good at it but he's a smart dude and a team leader so using him for safety shit would probably make for a stronger defense.

Long as they overhaul corner we're gonna be way better off. So from there I think there's things like that they could do to tweak some roles.

We've been discussing Ramsey as a safety for so long round here it feels like an urban legend. :laugh2:

But I agree. I've always appreciated Ramsey's physicality and how tenacious he is. What I don't like is his tendency to lay blame on others, but if he were to come in with the understanding of his role, and they were sure he could perform in that role, it's likely it would work out for us.

All I know is, we need to improve at the corner positions. They were bad the second half of the season. Too many open receivers running through the secondary. Either that or the scheme needs to be better. Improve that and special teams and our championship window is wide open.

How motivated can somebody be to go to work..... In Cleveland???
All kidding aside, his injury history is a concern but he also would be in a rotation and not seeing as many snaps.

Good thing is he wouldn't be playing a ton, since the rams like to mix up personnel these days he probably wouldn't be adding a ton of miles to his body. He'd be a great add but yes you are right.

My whole point is he hasn't been available to play a ton. He's averaged over his 9 year career like 12 games a year played. Our personnel and mixing things up has absolutely ZERO to do with my statement about Njoku.

He simply is not healthy enough IMO to spend money on especially the way he's been paid lately.

Sometimes I think you like to argue just to argue. I said I agree with you, too many injuries. My point was, he wouldn't get as many snap counts with the Rams as he did with the Browns because we would have 4 TE's on the roster. Which would mean he wouldn't see the field as often thus less of a chance to get injured.

Cheers

Ramsey is interesting. While he's definitely lost a step or even two, he does play center field pretty well. He's also fantastic against the run. I'd almost be tempted to bring him in as a WLB on passing downs. He most certainly would be better against the pass than Landman or Speights and I wouldn't be worried about him if the opposing team decided to run at him.

I don't remember Ramsey blaming others while with the Rams, I only remember him slapping Rapp in the face because he was always out of position.

You start out by making a case for him to be signed. That's what I was responding to there's no reason to sign him IMO especially for a guy that's coming off a contract paying him $14 million a year and estimates are he'll make $10 million a year on his next contract. I'm not arguing that his skillset would be nice to have but with the injuries and the money I don't se how it's feasible for the Rams to sign him.

As I've said more times than I can count I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again and this could be the next instance I'll be wrong. But I cannot understand with money and injuries how we should sign him.

He played deep middle and box about 90 snaps each this season. He'd often rotate out of nickel when teams would motion the slot receiver so he can definitely do it. It's a part of what made him so good before injury last year. I will say, I think sitting him at "mostly" deep middle wouldn't be a great use of his skills though we don't play a ton of 3 deep. Ton of cover 2 this season though.
