Eagles, Ravens to practice in Philadelphia in August

The Ravens and Eagles will practice together in Philadelphia leading up to the Saturday, August 22 exhibition game between the clubs at Lincoln Financial Field, the Ravens said Saturday on their website.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Baltimore would travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday, August 19, the team said.

The Eagles staged joint practices with the Patriots last summer, while the Ravens and 49ers worked out in advance of their preseason game.

The Eagles and Ravens don’t play in the regular season, which perhaps makes it easier to hold practices without worrying too much about tipping strategy. What’s more, numerous players in the workouts won’t be with the clubs by the time the regular season starts.

Anyone who doesn't see this as a sign that the Ravens want to move to Philly is in denial.

Why practice against the team whose owner has said the Rams can absolutely move if they want to?
I'm not saying it *means* anything, but it's a bad, tone-def look for us fans.

From a PR standpoint, taking into consideration all of the relocation goings-on, the Rams choosing to play these practice games in CA is either a gross oversight and their PR director needs to get canned, or, they don't have a PR director as the don't feel they need one,, if you catch my drift.
Sure it's done all the time but not under these circumstances.

Because the Cowboys practice there this year and logistically it works out?
I do believe in conspiracy theories such as steel beams don't melt like the 9/11 commission would have you believe but a owner like Jerry Jones giving his opinion on a team can move if they want to isn't a slap in the face either.

No matter what is going on, that should not have been in the article. I have been through 3 corporate downsizing's and having it in the paper would have made the process even worse.

Actually when it comes to Public Relations some will debate there is no such thing as bad publicity if you spin it right and the Exxon Valdez is a prime example. IMO, if the Rams relocate to California then this endeavor serves them well, however, if the stay in the Gateway City the only think they need to actually accomplish to bring the people back to any venue is actually winning more football games then they lose.

The way the author framed the article, it came off as significant enough for (former) employees to seek work elsewhere.
Perhaps this is a frequent thing in their business, or they aren't up to the daunting task ahead, but they are acting on what they are being "updated" on, , , , say's local writer.

This isn't not typical in business. Most companies want employees to work till the end so they keep some kind of hope alive. The one difference here is that a lot of the employees are listed as seasonal so there contract ends on December 31st each year and gets renewed a few months later.

den, I get the bad press is still 'press' theory when it comes to any identity trying to keep it's brand viable (entertainers), but this is different. I don't think the NFL want's or needs this kind press. Perhaps the Rams do.

This is where we disagree because IMO either way the NFL wins. If the theme is "California Here WeCcome" it has already been proven in the City of Angels the Rams are the Team of choice, however, if the NFL decides the best bet is to continue to preach "Meet Me in St. Louis" the NFL still wins.

Vinny Bonsignore was in STL this past week and he had some interest tweets today.






Vinny has been more pessimistic about the Rams relocating so I am wondering what he heard or saw that has swayed him. Now he isn't saying anything definitely but the tone of his tweets seem to have changed. He said he is working on an article about his past week here so I will interested in reading it. He was very complimentary to the Midwest hospitality he received while in town.
