Rozeboom seems to shadow Reeder too much. Hes always one step behind and to the side of Reeder. Not a good strategy since Reeder is often Tardy to the Party and moves like his feeet are in concrete. Rozeboom needs to find his own space and defend it.
That's why I said Jones covered up Rozeboom's inadequacies last year.

I was intrigued with the question. Here is what I found.

2023 season

Chicago was ranked 31st after the first 3 weeks. They ended the season ranked 19th.

2022 season

The Chargers were 30th after the first 3 weeks. They ended the season ranked 23rd.
The Titans went from 29th to 12th.
Washington went from 28th to 8th.
The Jets went from tied at 26 to 2nd.
nice reply, cheers.

I have watched 3 quarters of the Rams game Sunday and I decided to really focus on Reeder and Rozeboom. Before I just remember seeing the bad plays along with some good plays.

Reeder had a few good plays. But man his responses to most plays are so damn slow.

And Rozeboom - if a guard gets on him - forget it - the running back is running past him.

Plus both of them take such terrible angles to the ball on the majority of plays.

They remind me of that safety in 2010 or so that would take the most terrible angles.

True...but given how things went down with Jones, what could you do. My take is that the staff decided that both Reeder and Rozeboom will get better or they would have went shopping. They still may go shopping.

Building a championship defense requires money. I would assume the Rams can't afford that or things would be different.

And who would be available right now? I would think it would almost be at the half way point before some teams would start admitting they’ve got no chance and might want to consider dumping contracts for draft picks.

I remember that safety now - Craig Dahl

I never said he was! In my post that started this, I said both Reeder and Rozeboom were "NO WORLD BEATERS" but they have filled in nicely. So...I'm not saying they've done great, anyone can see that's not the case. They've been adequate.
Not trying to be a d#%k but anyone watching the Rams defense the first 3 games would easily see that Reeder/Rozeboom at ILB is one of the weakest defensive units in the NFL. McVay either needs to improve that or prepare for them to be picked on weekly.

Even more...anyone watching can see an even weaker secondary...:quiet:

Excellent post. Can't blame that on Shula.

Also and btw on 5 man fronts, if and when we get in the playoffs, I think Verse at 5T might end up being an option. Reason being on the run down we could have a rotational type on the edge and Verse is strong enough to stand an OT up in the run game. Dude is strong as hell. Same goes with 3T. Down the road I could see us moving him around. He is that type of player.

Ideally we don't have to do that, but I think in those games where all the chips are in the middle we might see a bit of that stuff.

There are multiple reasons why our defense has not been able to deal with other teams running games late on but this is probably the primary one

Note. Jones is playing on the final year of his contract; said he had not said he would hold out; did not request a trade; and was clearly a team leader. One of the worst moves “for the team” I can recall in recent memory

Yeah you knew Jones was going to play balls out since this was a contract year for him.

Just a horrible horrible horrible move by the Rams.

Even if he had an attitude problem - he still would have played his heart out for that contract.

Just a really idiotic move by the Rams.

Almost as bad as Georgia not paying London Fletcher. And that is saying something.

Tennessee allowed 188 rushing yards to the Packers last Sunday.

If Tennessee allowed 188 rushing yards to the Packers last Sunday, then the Rams are up S**t creek!

We are probably going to give up over 200 based on our yards per game average vs Tennessees yards per game.
