With The Bangles you could at least say you had the hots for Susanna Hoffs, which should never cost any dude their man card.

I bought a GoGo's LP once. I think i was about 12 yrs old.

I would imagine most of you in my age group listened to and went to a ton of rock concerts in the 80's & 90's like i did. Everything from Rush to Ozzy to Halen to Dio to Soundgarden to Motley Crue to Pink Floyd to Cheap Trick to all the hair metal etc.

In high school('85) i went to see U2 in concert by myself because none of my rocker friends would go. "Too punk" they said, lol.

I discovered Depeche Mode in '86 and sort of kept it from all my rocker friends. Met a girl who liked them so i went to their show(s). Pretty sure i saw Depeche and Metallica in the same month. Lol. They were always my left field choice compared to the rest of what i tuned into.

Some of ya'll mentioned Alanis Morrisette. What's to be ashamed of? She was brilliant.

I bought my mom a Barry Manilow album for her bday when i was a young teen. I kinda liked it. I write the Songs...

Depeche Mode are from just down the road to me in Basildon. They used to be regulars at a club called The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh. You used to be able to get a coach from Romford to the club and they called it The Pink Tooth Bus. True story. No idea if you‘re remotely interested in this but I felt obliged to share.

This thread... alternating between "Of course!" and "are you freaking kidding me"...

Someone "admits" they like Prince? No, you SHOULD like Prince... musical genius...

But Kenny G or Michael Bolton? Keep that shit on the down low...

I have two of her songs on my iPod, and I'm planning on a third (a sad song that actually fits one of my stories).
Love Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill" album. Especially "You oughta know", great
song about jealousy.

A few years ago I'd play that song for my ten y-o daughter and her best friend., usually when I'd drive them for a trip to the beach. I'd crank up Jagged Little Pill and look in the rear view mirror to watch em singing their hearts out.

Id always find an excuse to turn the volume down at the line "are you thinking of me while you f*** her..." though. My daughter didn't even know there was that line in the song until several years later, lol

Oh, and I have a fair few old Nickelback songs. And P!nk songs. And a lot of Rihanna songs.
The others are all fine but I CANNOT and WILL NOT endorse Nickleback. Sort your life out.

No mention of ABBA yet and I'm not sure if that's because everyone knows they were geniuses or because they are so embarrassing that they havent been named yet. I think they are fantastic.

I have seen Springsteen live 13 times and I think he is cool as fuck but I think a lot of people dont get it with him. No idea why.

I was a teenager when Blink 182 and all that stuff came out in the late 90s/early noughties and all my friends grew out of them. I still listen to them like A LOT.

I have an eclectic taste. I prefer rock/alternative/metal/emo etc but there is no better place on earth than a late night Jazz club... and I love my classical music too.

No fucking nickleback tho god dammit.

@ScotsRam it does seem there are two types of people out there: Those who get Springsteen and those who don't. Put me in the latter group as I don't really get the big deal with the boss. I have relatives who have seen him 10+ times.

I'm a Classic Rock guy, 60's through the 80's, but like IowaRam I also love Disco. It always puts me in a good mood. For me it's not about the particular artist, band, or genre, it's about the song. I could listen to Ray Charles sing "Georgia On My Mind" and then switch over to Def Leppard's "Photograph" the next minute. Music is such a wonderful gift to mankind. Whatever rocks your boat, go for it.
