How is that spin? That's exactly what Shanahan and Lynch said over two days (one the week of the draft, the other the day of the draft).

Clearly Lance was their favorite over the rookies (they DRAFTED him...). And Lynch said, "If you hear the MVP of the league may be available, you inquire," or something to that effect. Shanahan called, and was told he'd be wasting his time.

I mean, how is it remotely weird or controversial to prefer AARON RODGERS to a rookie QB? I'd take Rodgers over Lawrence and Wilson too.

I think experience is less of a problem than his accuracy, the competition jump, and the year off of football. It's a recipe for late, inaccurate passes, which turn into pick sixes.

For the lack of experience he had, he was running as close to a pro-style offense as you'll find in college, and Shanahan has loads of experience with "Jimmy Gimmies," those passes that the mediocre QB can execute without having to read the defense or throw more than negative three yards down field.

So, I think if Lance learns the offense, his experience isn't as much of a problem as some think, because the offense he'd run would be no more difficult for a QB than what Jimmy runs (which is to say, not very).

However, if you watch his tape, he has inconsistent accuracy, and THAT is a big problem. Because what's the point of putting in Lance because he has a bigger arm if he just misses the throw? Might as well keep Jittery Jimmy in there. And in fact it would be worse early on, because the game is much faster in the NFL, and he'll be late a lot, most likely.

On the other hand, he's proven to be a good decision maker, but I suspect that would just mean he takes a lot of sacks early on instead of throwing stupid picks. Which of course is worse than having Jittery Jimmy out there.

But the biggest reason Lance needs to sit is to fix his fundamentals and improve his accuracy.

Do you think the team should carry 3 QB’s game day to avoid rushing him? Or keep him inactive?

It sure feels like he needs time. And... as a team... you can’t screw it up by having Jimmy G go down early.

Of the traits my rookie needs, accuracy feels really high on the list. It’s one of those things I believe you can only train/refine so much. You have it or you don’t... look at MLB for examples. All the pitchers throw a lot of baseballs... some are more accurate than others. It is what it is.

I mean I was asked my thoughts on it so I gave them.

And you'll note I said Stafford is clearly better than Jimmy G. His only flaw is age. Otherwise he's on the cusp of elite. Steve Young called him a "miracle worker."

Steve Young wanted the BYU QB as well. What ?? As much as The San Jose team gave up to get the 3rd overall pick in the 2021 draft you’d think they could get across the water instead of having to drive through the East Bay.

They've had 3 QBs the last few years. Even had CJ Beathard on the roster, and he doesn't belong in the NFL.

As for training, there are two examples of talented guys who improved their accuracy the last couple of years: Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. So, it's not impossible. Rare, but not impossible. However, field vision/processing is harder to improve than accuracy, and Lance had better field vision/processing than Fields in college, so it's a decent gamble.

I don't think the Jets had any intention of trading out of 2.

For sure they wanted Watson, especially after the Rams sniped Stafford from them by paying what he was worth.

Agreed. ‘Lance has a Chance’

Josh Allen improved accuracy. But Lance could see the whole field and read defenses pre-snap. The mental part is the toughest. Some guys can’t get that down. You cannot teach mental processing speed. That’s why I liked Lance over Fields despite lack of accuracy. Trey seems like a hard worker, I’m sure he will work on his mechanics.

I was really hoping the 49ers would draft Fields or Jones. One comp that I read for Lance was Steve McNair. The Rams are set to defend the passing game more so than a hard running team with a good Oline.

-Just glad The Angels beat the Dogers last night.Nice meaningful HR Mookie. Let’s Go Dodgers keep the streak alive, your at 4 games.

No you completely misinterpreted my post.

I was including Koufax as the rare individual who was extremely wild in his early years and took a little advice from his catcher John Roseboro who told him to not throw his hardest. That's when Koufax went from a pitcher who had difficulty finding the strike zone to a pitcher who was deadly accurate in his pitches.

Greatest 5 year stretch of any pitcher ever.

As to the Dodgers, they have lost at least 6 pitchers to the DL. I have lost count how many.

This is just not their year.

Shit happens.

Go ahead and put them down when they are down.

Nolan Ryan figured it out more towards the end.Different type of pitchers.Same type of concept.
Frank Tanana was the actual better pitcher? Different era’s,he did have the Old Tommy John thing though.

Frank Tanana was awesome before his injury. I got to see both Tanana and Ryan pitch in the 70s.

Strangely - back in the 70s and 80s, I was a fan of both the Angels and Dodgers.

My favorite Angel team was the 1979 team.

Not anymore.

Just a Dodger fan now.

And this thread has officially been hijacked now lol

A Johnny come lately. Go listen to his last interview. I think is just a thought & is what is in your mind.

Kyle called Green Bay the night he heard about Aaron Rogers might be available. He talked to Fox & that was it.He wanted to make sure when he went to bed the night he heard Aaron Rogers might be available he didn’t want to wake up to Aaron Rogers let’s say being a Ram.

To say Russell Wilson was Mike’s pick.Well Cousins was Kyle pick.
The rookie salary cap now is what made The RG111 so worth all the Draft Picks. LMAO - 2 2nd for Stafford & you would give up a 1st.The Niners gave up how much for Tre Whoever he is(the next Wentz) as a QB?

Mcvay wants to KICK THE San Jose teams ASS! He got rid of Goff’s contract as well.I think Jared Goff is a lot better QB than Porn lover Jimmy G-spot.
Time will tell who made the better trade & has the betters team.
In fact The Rams might not be the best? I do think those DB’s from up North of LA better be ready. The Rams offense is going to be a lot better. From center across the line to Cam Akers having Mathew Stafford in front of him.

You say porn lover like that's a bad thing...

I'm not gonna lie; Lance was a solid pick for them. It sucks that they didn't go after Mac Jones, but it is what it is.

Time to crush Lance, preferably with the two picks we got from the 69ers in the fourth round!

I didn’t like the trade, because Tre Sermon could be a real good player. Why give them life. I think it was a little lazy ? Les Snead was not 100 %.His extra energy level was needed. If the value chart was there oaky, but it wast & he gave the 9ers more than they deserved.

.It worked out well for The Rams.
Ernest Jones was still there at 103.The 9ers had 102 and took a CB.Anthony Thomas Mich.,CB

Bobby Brown at 117 could be the steal of the draft.
Robert Rochelle though at 130.
Les Snead found some energy or just the extra pick inspired him.

What happened with Draft PICK #121#
The Rams got 130 & What Else ?

#121 & 209
Jordon Smith DE ,uAB
Jalen Camp wR,G-Tech

130, 170, & 249
130 Robert Rochelle,Cb,Car
170.(Eric Wallow,lb,Tru)
249. Ben Skowronek,wr,ND

174 &233
Ernest Brown DE,Nort Western
233 Jake Funk Rb,Maryland

And again, this internal secrecy was deliberate. As Shanahan pointed out, in the past someone jumped ahead of him because he was loose with who he liked in the building.
You seem to NEED a narrative to be believed by us here. And I suppose we are supposed to buy in because some whiner fan says it's so? :ROFLMAO:

The idea that the Whiners kept it a secret so that no one would jump ahead of them is cracking me up. They could have shouted it from the mountain tops and Lance would have been there AT THE #3 OVERALL PICK. There was no freaking way the Jags or Yets were going to swoop in to grab Lance.

So go on with your bad self if you feel the need - which you clearly do. Just don't expect Rams fans to take the word of a whiner fan over everything else they've heard and what ACTUALLY makes sense.
