Stafford doesn't want to stop playing and there are no good QBs coming out of college this year. Pay him what he wants and find him a good RB and center and right and left guards. And a TE that can stay healthy.
Bingo
That's 5 new players on offense Lol.

That may take a while.

Dart's projected to be a 3rd round pick, 2nd at the highest. Nix was 1st round talent.

It's not the same.

On the OL, Limmer may improve since he is a rookie.

Also, they have Jonah Jackson for competition. I can see them trying that experiment again with a whole off-season to do it. They pulled the plug quickly because we were in the middle of the season trying to win.
Was Nix really projected as a 1st rounder about this time last year? And the word in media draftnik circles is that Dart may very well be in 1st round consideration if he has a strong Senior Bowl showing.

Prescott, Burrow. Lawrence, Love, Tagovailoa, Goff, & Herbert make about $52 - $60 million per year while Stafford is at about $40 million with little guaranteed money left on his deal.

How much would/should he want? How high should the Rams be willing to go for a soon to be 37 year old QB in a league where mobility seems to be becoming increasingly more important? Would he or should he even consider playing at the same salary if guaranteed?

I wonder what would happen if Stafford decided to retire.
I wonder how he would feel if the team moved on from his buddy Cooper Kupp.
I wonder how much Stafford's would garner via trade?

Lots of questions behind the scenes for fans to keep busy via speculation during the offseason before this probably becomes a non-story by mid-March.

Yeah, I saw that he is moving up. Kiper has him as his QB3 already. He may not last until late 1st. He would be a trade up target. Any such move like that would mean Stafford tells McVay he has one year left.

And if Dart ends up a top 12 pick, they may have to trade a #1 next yr and a 3rd this yr to get up there for him.

I think they plan on making the jump up for a QB either this year or next year. I do wonder how much of that will be what Stafford asks for driving the decision.
Ideally? They can go all-in on the salary cap next season.. and have another great draft.. so that in 26, the team is basically built for a rookie QB to come in and succeed.

With Stafford I am guessing that it will be about how many years that he is planing to play. If he does what Donald apparently did and tells them that he has one more year left, then I think they make a move this year so a kid can be around him for a year.

If Stafford says he plans on playing at least 2 more years then they may wait a year unless some one falls into their lap or they only need a minor trade up for a kid they really like.

I agree with this completely. I think Stafford has 2 years left playing at this level, and then we may start to see some real decline. He’d be pushing 40 at that point. Unless a QB that McVay is absolutely in love with falls to us in the draft, I’d just plan on going into 2025 with Stafford and Jimmy. Use the draft capital to fill holes elsewhere.

You have to re-sign Garoppolo, no guarantees he’s back.
Will they go 5-7 mill on a backup qb? Does he think he’s worth more?
I don’t see anything in Stafford that indicates he’s anywhere close to hanging it up any time soon

Definitely. I would prefer the Rams use every pick on non-QB to plug as many holes as possible. But yes if Stafford is kicking around retirement or the Rams don't like what they're hearing or where the discussions are I could see them going QB.

Matthew wants to stay a Ram and get paid. The "paid how much" part is the key in keeping him. Looking at 2025 and 2026.

They should invest that $5-$7 mil in Garoppolo. He ran the offense very well in week 18.

As for his value, I don't see a team he'd start for next year. Do you?

Yeah, if for some reason something didnt workout with Stafford, the play would ge Garrapolo and a high draft pick.

They would be able to put together a better overall roster in 2026 with Stafford off the books, but they would have to nail the QB pick and get a great 1st year out of a kid... like Mahomes in his first year as a starter.

Rams probably have few, if any, immediate options other than retaining Stafford.

BUT, I must admit that I'm am curious to see what McVay could do with a QB that offers a little something with his legs. Can't prove it, but I really think that they wanted to move on from Stafford and re-sign Mayfield a couple years back.

Yeah I can’t see that. Snead maybe, but Stafford’s biggest champion in the building is McVay. No way in hell he’d choose Baker over Stafford.
