That Pack return on the Rodgers trade to the Jets doesn't seem too impressive, imo:

Pack gave:
Aaron Rodgers
2023 first-round pick (No. 15)
2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170)

Jets gave
2023 first-round pick (No. 13)
2023 second-round pick (No. 42)
2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207)
A conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays this season

--

A two-spot pick swap of first rounders, a fifth for a sixth, a couple seconds, incl. a conditional second.

Sure, Stafford is younger, but Rodgers was one year removed from back-to- back MVP years . . . which Stafford has 0.
Not sure how/if the Rams get significantly more for Matthew.

He stays. For some reason, I’m channeling @El Chapo Jr ’s balls into vibrating toward this all being a media driven shit show drama theater. Matthew will be in horns for the next three seasons. Calling it now.
Sure hope we're right. I've suspected all along that this was just "media driven shit show drama theater." But Stafford going out to Montana to play footsie with Brady on a ski trip freaks me out a bit. Stafford is ramping up the pressure.

I still think Stafford stays. But he sure is playing with fire.

1st and 2nd in ‘26 maybe?

Nah… fuck it. No team is giving the Rams what they need for Matty. He stays. We build. We give him an extra $10 mill this year plus an incentive laden 2 more with opt outs. He proves out? He’s golden and so are the Rams. He has to put his own money where his wife’s mouth is.
I agree no team will give what the Rams want to give up their starting QB. And I think the Rams want less than anybody around here is suggesting and they still won't get that.

My word, we can't go a year without some sort of major off season trade/hold out situation, even winning a playoff game or division. C'mon 125!

Holy shit wad, Colin Cowherd makes a VERY convincing case as to why Stafford might seriously consider the Raiders.

Given no state tax in Nevada... and maybe an EXTRA year or two... and much more guaranteed money... there's a chance the Raiders could offer a LOT more than what the Rams are offering. Not a little, a lot.

I'm still stubbornly optimistic that Rams will pay more than they'd like and Stafford will stay. But if you want to freak yourself out over why Stafford might leave, give the Cowherd clip a listen.

This draft isn't that great up top. They're talking Warren top ten for example, and some of these other TE are not much dropoff if at all. None as versatile for example but some are likely more athletic.

Feels like a good draft to trade down, and why not swap with LA, as I mentioned before when some were acting like the Giants pick was some incredible value this year. I don't see that.

I see lesser QBs who will get overdrafted. And a very large second group that feels close to the top group.

I don't think Stafford is a great fit for Chip Kelly and a Petey team, but he is a very good QB in a league where there's a ton of lesser QBs than him. Will they get 3 years out of him? Maybe, maybe not. But I'm gonna be pissed if he's in silver and black.

I still don't think Stafford will be traded....

But IF IF IF the Raiders make a MUCH bigger financial offer to him....

I could see the Raiders offering to swap their #6 overall pick in exchange for the Rams' #26 overall pick.

Raiders would have to be crazy in love with Stafford to offer this-- but it sounds like they are. And Rams might be sorely tempted by the cap savings and the #6 overall.

Maybe. That’s why I’m not settling for any less. If I want to trade our starting elite QB, it better hurt the other team.

Also, WE’RE AT 124!! We CAN get to 125!
If they're trading him, it's not because they want to, it's because they can't work out an acceptable contract number with him.

At that point, unless you think Stafford will play on his current contract, they will have to trade him which will put downward pressure on trade compensation.

No.
The past two seasons have been great fun; and the Rams have been a Super Bowl caliber team.
Stafford has been terrific in crunch time and the playoffs.
With Stafford, the Rams are still a Super Bowl contender.
Without Stafford, they are not.

In any given season, there are maybe 8-10 teams with a chance; It's tough to be one of those teams.
Don't give that up.

The Rams were the only team that gave the Iggles a tough game in last season's playoffs. This team will be a serious super bowl contender, but not if we're drafting a QB, IMO. I wouldn't be trading Stafford unless we're getting a King's ransom in return. Those windows open up for a chance at a title, but the window can close and stay shut for a while if the pieces aren't in place. The Rams have the pieces in place right now.
