Cheers. Thanks man.

Dead cap always means to me were paying for someone who's no longer with the team.
OK - so they add $50M to the current contract which (to me) means he makes $50M in '25 and $50 M in '26.

Where'd the extra $50M in dead cap for '27 come from?
His cap hit on his current deal is 103 mill for 25/26 (currently carrying approx 50 mill of dead cap). If they guarantee him his money and additional 25 mill for 25/26 add a 3rd year with no guaranteed money, 25+25+ 103= 158 mill. 158/3 is 52-53 mill per year in cap hits.
They could also add 2 void years which would reduce the cap hit in 25/26 to 40 mill but then would leave an 80 mill dead cap in '27

A few weeks ago I was confident they'd figure something out and Stafford will stick around a couple more years. Now I'm not so sure. I was thinking the odds were 80/20 in favor of him staying. I still think they will work it out at some point. Because teams may not be willing to give them their asking price for Stafford. But I feel more like its 60/40 or even 55/45 he stays.

Brady didn't care about the money b/c his mentality was all about the winning. And his wife made multiple-times more than any amount of money the Pats were gonna give him.
and the Patriots were the only client of his business. Which more than made up for anything he didn't get from team as wages.

After 2K posts, I figure I might as well offer up my opinion... Mcvay wants Stafford, Stafford wants to stay... they will work it out and Stafford will remain a Ram. Unless some team offers both sides a great deal. Just my two cents.

^^^ We shouldn’t pay him anymore either. I know he wants to play longer (with Rams) and that’s what this is likely about - guaranteed security as a Ram the next 3+ seasons. But screw that - stay strong Snead. Let him play this season out in this contract year by year. He can play or retire.

The Achilles heel with that strategy might be that, if their willingness to pay him doesn't match their willingness to cough up the draft capital to get him, then they are not fully putting their money where their mouth is.
That’s the point. If they have no intention of trading for him then let the agent think he is valued more than he is. They could say, “ if we were willing to give up what the Rams were asking in a trade, we’d pay Matthew this much. But we don’t want to trade picks to get him.”

I’d look at every team as a bit of an adversary.

If a team isn't willing to trade, then he isn't worth that contract because he can't get it.

Wow! You packed a whole lot in there.

The post was intended to reflect an observation about Miller’s level of maturity in making an important career decision.

Asking a beloved and respected parent for their input makes perfect sense. However, Miller agreed to do a mini-documentary. It would have been wise to consider how to best present himself; and, in my opinion, he didn’t come across as an adult seeking advice from trusted advisors (including a parent), and then making HIS own decision about his life/career.

As to the rest of your post, respectfully, Yikes!
Please understand I hold you in the highest respect!

Sorry I got triggered......
