Most all of you have been preaching "I believe in McVay. He sees and knows first hand what's going on with the team..."
So don't you think it could be possible that McVay sees for sure, that Goff will never get any better than he played this year? Maybe McVay refuses to waste this superb defense on a subpar QB that really doesn't have any fire in his belly at all.... So trust McVay. That he would give up so much just to get Goff out of town ... should mean something to you!

Yeah, I remember as young lad that felt that way in 1973, the Los Angeles Rams had traded the God Roman Gabriel to Philadelphia and had acquired the portly, balding John Hadl from San Diego, as a seven year old, I was crushed and I actually had a castoff jersey (all you can get back then) with number 18 on it.

I was convinced there was no way I could root for the Rams with a bald Quarterback and didn't even know who the new Head Coach was and then they won their first six games plus won the NFC West with a 12-2 record and I was just fine.

Y.A. Tittle was pretty good for a bald guy. He could really sling it. Great qb, great name... no hair.

We could've said the same when they gave Goff that record extension 1 1/2 years ago.

It's those two polar realities that I'm having trouble balancing. To make a commitment to this QB and then change their mind about it so completely.

I think being bald is a super power. Consider this:
Y.A. Tittle
Jason Statham
The Rock
Bruce Willis
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Samuel L Jackson

The list goes on and on. Bald guys are bad ass.

Its the first round picks I really hate - so yes if we don't win a super bowl it is a shitty trade - we went all in getting Suh and Talib and the other nameless CB - got to the Super Bowl

We went all in with Ramsey - didn't work out but I could accept trading for a long term future with Ramsey

However, I am expecting at minimum a super bowl appearance since we traded our future away ... again (and I am including Goff in that)

You can only trade away your future so long before it bites you in the butt. This may be it.

I really hope I am wrong and I will eat crow if I am

Okay if there are some injuries that keep us out of the superbowl I will accept that but anything less than a super bowl appearance if healthy - no - shitty trade
We didnt trade away our future, brother. Goffs contract was strictly limiting our future, so the future, which many here have expressed, was always a concern. This frees up cap space to allow more players to be retained or to bring in, while we at the very LEAST made a lateral move at the qb position.

Yeah and like Jrry said - we lost a little trust in McVay on this decision.

Maybe I am wrong and should be all in since McVay wanted Stafford so bad and everything will turn out like he thinks but even geniuses make mistakes sometimes and I believe this is going to be McVay's biggest mistake.

I hope to God that I am completely wrong on this though.

After calming down a bit, I will continue to root for the Rams. Maybe Stafford is the one that will also take us over the hump like Goff did when he got us over the hump against NO.

However, I will have to watch some of Staffords games last year to get on board the Stafford bandwagon.

I will only watch the offense because I know their defense was horrible.

A lot of things can happen in a year and a half. The world, and the people in it, isn't static. Maybe something changed with Goff as time went by. Again, we'd never know.

This is a huge roll of the dice. IMO they have at best a 3-year window to get at least one Lombardi. If they can get 2 Lombardi's then this will prove to be a masterstroke. But that is a huge IF.

There is no question Snead is going all in on this. Either he ends up looking like a genius or he looks like a fool.

This frees up cap space to allow more players to be retained or to bring in, while we at the very LEAST made a vertical move at the qb position.
But it doesn't free up any cap space - we are 8 million deeper in the hole this year and as I said we could have dumped Goff after next year to free up space and maybe try again for Watson. I know - wishful dreaming.

That's cool. You do you.

I, however, am paying almost $150,000 a year in PSL's and...geez, I don't even know what the seats are supposed to run next year because the price per game is different depending on the team, and I don't stand by it.

Somehow I think, in terms of customer retention, my unhappiness trumps most.
Renegotiate! That's not the way MY PSLs work. Paid once, I just worry about price per game. :)

I don't think communication had anything to do with it AJ. The Rams simply were not willing to ride the Jared Goff Get-Right Train any longer. His rope played out. Now if he's smart he'll rewind those areas he was coming up short and at the least get his basics down because I'll tell you right now if you don't read and see the field well in a rebuild situation you're in for some serious pain.

But I think this will be good for him. Goff's a good kid and I'm sure he's gonna learn a really important lesson here and maybe one that helps him get his career back on track.

Mike Silver reporting that Goff said "I'm happy to be somewhere that the team wants me" Tells me there was a big let down in communication
