I think we could still win with Goff if we had gotten an upgrade at center but you are right the relationship had soured between Goff and McVay

Where communication lacks negativity fills - Mcvay. I wonder where the communication let down was.

Responsible....Mcvay is taking responsibility by replacing Goff
Yes, because he, better than anyone knows Goff was the weak link that needed to be upgraded.

Being the head coach and taking responsibility is a lot more than him being better at calling plays or clock management.

And, I’d better a lot of money that this was not just a McVay decision alone.

The same woes as all good teams. The Oline sucked due to not having a good center, which I've been saying for three years. However other things come into play. Maybe if they don't trade for Ramsey then they get their center. Which free agents center did they miss out? Was there one that fit the blocking scheme? Ditto for ilb. Few good teams ever get all of the premium FAs to fill every deficiency. Teams that usually have extra cap are rebuilding, fully or partially.
Oh I am not disagreeing with you on these points. I am just saying CAP does effect teams strategy that they can't completely ignore the CAP. Plus some of their moves were puzzling.

Why we didn't resign Saffold when we had a chance.

Why we didn't draft a center when we had the chance instead we drafted Allen which has been a huge mistake.

I was banging the table for the Washington Center a few drafts ago instead we got Day which hasn't been bad but the center is now an all pro.

We could possibly have found a decent replacement for Day if we drafted a DL instead of Allen.

Any chance we could talk Calvin Johnson out of retirement? Like the Bucs did with Gronk.
Calvin Johnson walked away from the opportunity to be the best wide receiver in the history of the NFL. He hated Detroit and that was a big reason but I also remember him citing protecting his own long term health as another reason (at least that's how I remember it). Point being, I don't think Megatron has any motivation to return to the NFL he doesn't care about his all time rankings and he prioritizes his health.

If we got Megatron to come out of retirement due to getting Stafford, I would do a 180 turn around on this trade.

Stafford and Megatron for Goff two firsts and a third would be more than worth it (if Megatron could get back in football shape - which I think he could).

Yeah but one year man one year

Go to a winning team - win the super bowl

Could you imagine Johnson Woods Kupp Jefferson as the WR corp? Just holy crap.

Stafford would definitely get 5000 yards with that

Ya. After I made that post I decided to google him.

One of the reasons he retired was he had a concussion every year in the league. He is just now, as of last year, venturing into the marijuana business. Which funny enough I believe Gronk did as well in his short retirement. But Johnson also retired 6 years ago. . .

Pipe dream - pun intended.

Glad to hear Goff is happy to go somewhere he’s wanted. He’s gonna need that positive demeanor going forward because every media head is going to rip him apart if he fails. He has a chance to prove he didn’t need McVay’s hand holding and I hope, for his sake, he can prove it.

Also, just realized Matthew Stafford will probably be the last full time starting QB for the Rams that will be older than me.

We just got trade-raped. I'm so angry. I'm not sure I can continue rooting for this team.

Let us know when you decide.

Superbowl here we come!

Well I don't like this trade because of what we gave up and I may look silly come next year.

But I am standing by - if we don't win a Super Bowl in the next two years - this is a shitty trade
I hate this type of thinking. It's almost like you want this to fail so you can tell everyone "I told ya so!!". That's just lazy. If you are a Rams fan, try and look at the positives here. There are quite a few IMO.

Also, I didn't love this trade when I first heard the details. After a night of sleep and some cold beers today, I am fired up. I have too much stress in other areas of my life to let this shit phase me. Go Stafford and GO RAMS!!!

You haven't seen Goff complete a no look pass in between 3 defenders in the endzone. Video or it didn't happen.

Just out of curiosity... Is there some reason why anyone would want their qb to throw a no look pass in between three defenders?

Most likely result is an INT and a benched qb.

I’m writing this down! There is nowhere to get a good hot dog around here and I’ve fallen in love with cooking them in the air fryer so now I’m trying different toppings
I’m late to this conversation but Hebrew National are my favorite hot dogs.

Its the first round picks I really hate - so yes if we don't win a super bowl it is a shitty trade - we went all in getting Suh and Talib and the other nameless CB - got to the Super Bowl

We went all in with Ramsey - didn't work out but I could accept trading for a long term future with Ramsey

However, I am expecting at minimum a super bowl appearance since we traded our future away ... again (and I am including Goff in that)

You can only trade away your future so long before it bites you in the butt. This may be it.

I really hope I am wrong and I will eat crow if I am

Okay if there are some injuries that keep us out of the superbowl I will accept that but anything less than a super bowl appearance if healthy - no - shitty trade

I don't think communication had anything to do with it AJ. The Rams simply were not willing to ride the Jared Goff Get-Right Train any longer. His rope played out. Now if he's smart he'll rewind those areas he was coming up short and at the least get his basics down because I'll tell you right now if you don't read and see the field well in a rebuild situation you're in for some serious pain.

But I think this will be good for him. Goff's a good kid and I'm sure he's gonna learn a really important lesson here and maybe one that helps him get his career back on track.
