Boy do I have news for you! We didn't draft the left tackle that we have now
He’s also a one-of-kind player who is ancient and could be done at any moment.
we won’t able to sign a 35 yo stud to save us next time, then what? Not like there’s a ton of cap room or draft picks to save the day.

Maybe Snead keeps trading away our picks and 3xhausting our cap space so noone else would want the rams gm job

He's coming back next year and our cap situation is better in 22 I think.

I was thinking more so in winning games that mattered. Stafford is fine and all...but so is Goff.

What separates Stafford so much more that he is worth what we gave up?

I spent the night watching clips of Stafford. At first it pained me because I was wrong. Then I got excited because me being wrong meant the deal was much better than I initially thought.

1) Arm. Goff has a good arm. Stafford has a GREAT arm.

2) Processing speed. Goff struggles sometimes processing pressure. Stafford clearly processes MUCH faster.

3) Mobility. Goff at 26 is BARELY more mobile than Tom Brady and Brady slides better in the pocket at 43. Stafford is more mobile than Rodgers in the pocket.

4) Toughness. Both are very tough.

5) Football IQ. Goff has decent awareness. Stafford has a very high football IQ.

6) Eye Test. Based on what McVay clearly covets for his offense, it's easy to see that Stafford is a perfect fit.

7) Deep ball. One of the things Goff has really struggled with the last two years is hitting the deep ball in stride. Stafford excels at this

I'm hoping that Stafford is kinda like Jim Plunkett for us. Plunkett was a #1 overall pick (Patriots) who struggled and was traded for a QB and two 1st round picks (SF). He went on to win 2 Super Bowls (Raiders). Stafford's had a much better go than Plunkett did, but there are some similarities. Point being that he had uneven success at his first stop and when he went to a stop with very good Offensive coaching (Tom Flores), he flourished. Not by today's standards, but led the team to 2 Super Bowls. It's not a completely parallel story.

Hopefully we keep both Woods and Kupp because with Akers and Higbee and Jefferson, that's a very sure handed group. While Stafford has had individual weapons including time with Calvin Johnson, who was often triple teamed, Stafford's never had a group of weapons like this.

The rest of the league is right to be worried, especially the rest of our division...

Well at the very least we will find out if we are a bi-polar organization or a genius organization or both. Has there been any response from the players and coaches yet?

Rams are one of the winningest teams in the league over the last 4 years. Snead hasn't been perfect but I really think we've become a little tainted by success around here. I do not wanna go back to the days where we always had picks because we could trade out of the top 5 and always had money because we had no good players to keep.

I have no doubt that Stafford will be much much better for us. My only issue is his age. Hopefully he can play good football for at least 4 more years.

I dunno. With Reggie Scott, Stafford could easily go until 40 if he wants to.

This is the same tool all GM’s use, so hmm... could it be you didnt include the 3rd rounder?

:D
Unfortunately, you can only add 3 offers in the game per trade. I’ll have to inflate his stats I guess, in order to get the Lions to bite.

I definitely disagree with some of these points. I won't go into detail. But from a production standpoint alone I could make a few arguments. But I respect what your saying.

Cheers.

You guys are jumping to a lot of conclusions! You're missing the real point of this trade..and quite frankly, I expected far better from our smarter members....

We have NOT traded for Stafford! We have merely traded away Goff + his gargantuan contract! Stafford was just a spare part in the deal.

McVay and those in the know understand the real plan = Wolford is now the #1 QB, and Stafford has been brought in as the backup.

The WOLF era has begun!

Wow, 43 pages since last night!

McVay knows what he needs to win football games.

This has been clear since he took over from Fisher and the initial moves he made back then. Which, btw, immediately turned a perennial also ran (or worse) into a playoff team.

I, too, thought we had our "franchise QB" after that tremendous 2018 season.

Instead, the last two years have shown we had, at best, a pedestrian starting QB who was getting paid like a elite one. Hardly surprising McVay wanted to move on given some of Goff's performances this year.

I look forward to seeing what Mr Stafford can accomplish as a Ram.

I don't want to go back to the days of always looking for a QB.

This reminds me of good Rams teams signing guys like Dan Pastorini, Bert Jones, Steve Bartkowski, and even Joe Namath....while had they just kept Jaworski they may have won a SB.

Stafford might be the best qb we've had though. And yes I'm one of those people who think Goff was mostly propped up by the system but that's just my opinion. I think we made a big upgrade at qb and stafford could be around another 4 years.

Havent seen anything from the Rams but ex teammates of Stafford are pumped for him. They think it's a good fit.
