It is crazy to me how the Rams cannot keep a long term QB.
The position has generally been a circus forever.....
Got Everett to develop happy feet.
Dumped Warner.
Bulger imploded.
Drafted a lemon in Bradford.
Now Goff traded.
Rewind 18 months and there is no way the Goff isn’t breaking every Rams career passing records.
This surely needs to signal a long time commitment to McVay as the HC.
Has to or we are likely headed back to football hell.
McVay inherited Goff so who knows his thoughts on his from day one as HC.
You forgot how they let Ferragamo head to Canada because they wouldnt pay him

Being a Rams QB is kind of like being the drummer for Spinal Tap or a Roman emperor in the 3rd century.

But we kept the Great Jeff Kemp...

Well, we traded him to San Fran, Montana got hurt for a year, and Kemp played the best football of his career in relief.

ut people cursing the Rams and talking about wanting Mcvay, a coach with one of the highest win percentages in league history through 4 years, to be fired is ridiculous.

If this trade works, all will be well. But if this trade fails, it's a career killer, at least as far as his time with this franchise. And he'd goddamn well better do everything to rebuild the OL now after neglecting it for two years running, because Stafford is at least as much of a statue as Goff. It's going to be a long season if Stafford starts getting Blythed up on every seven step drop.

The Rams can cut Stafford after next year and take no cap hit at all. But what's the point of trading two future firsts for him if you're going to cut him? They're going all in on Stafford for at least the next two years. I wish them luck.

they are spending pics to buy future cap space while giving the team a chance at a deep run the next two years.

The Rams have now traded 4 first round picks 2 second round picks 3 third round picks paid $81 million dollars to Jared Goff to get Matt fucking Stafford and his soon to be 33 year old 62% career completion percentage and some of you are happy with this? I'll think about coming back maybe eventually. Snead and McVay gone will help speed it up.

People talked about needing a more mobile QB that was what McVay wanted. And we got a 33 year old statue back there who can't complete the ball.

We lost to GB in the playoffs so we got a guy who is 7-13 vs them. He's beat the Niners and the Seahawks each once in his career and can't win vs the shitty teams in his division the Bears and the Vikings.

We are now paying $42 million to the QB this year and with Goff have over $30 million in dead cap money again!

We have an OLine that has one guy approaching 40 and a bunch of mediocre guys now protecting a guy who can't run and gets hurt.

The Rams go played pure and simple and deserve to be laughed at by the rest of the league and her fans. Bill O'Brien is proud of Snead what a colossal fucking joke.
So.....you’re undecided?

I'll say one thing about this front office... They get out in FRONT of shit.

Yeah ok not funny. But I do like the aggression of going after their target right out the gate and getting their guy. Rams do not fuck around.

The only significant amounts of future cap space they're buying is in 2022. Goff's contract had essentially no dead money after 2022 (only the small account of cap we pushed forward by restructuring him). If they don't win a Super Bowl with Stafford in the next two years, this deal was a failure imo.

I do too. Draft picks aren't guaranteed to be worthwhile players. It's hard to say no to a proven player. And our 1st RD picks are essentially day 2 picks anymore.

It's really a love/hate.

Jourdan Rodrigue said that we should assume that stafford will get a 1 year extension to help with the cap and make the deal more team friendly

To facilitate that, they're going to have to give Stafford guaranteed money.

I don't agree with you, and I don't think Matt Stafford is going to win a Super Bowl. That's why I have ardently opposed this deal since people started floating it.
I think it’s impossible to say “never” for either guy, cause who knows?
Rivers would have had a respectable playoff record if he wasn’t stuck with Charger kickers. Haha.
The regression of Goff seemed obvious.
Now we will find out if Goff regressed or a symptom of McVays offense not progressing.
I would expect some different changes with Stafford at QB.

How to signing bonuses work? Is that out of the owners pocket or against the cap? I'm cap savvy.

This is one of those posts you will wish you had back some day my man. It's gonna be fun. :ROFLMAO:

As usual I cannot conceive how you just arrived at your conclusion. But I hope the view is good up there for you. :beer2::cool:

To which part of my post are you referring? The Brad Holmes part of the part about McSnead's job security should this trade end up as a failure?

And instead of the fucking snide remarks you keep dropping in response to my posts lately, why don't you try debating on the merits for a change?
