So, how much cap savings this year are we talking about? You always hear cap hits and savings, but does that change if a team takes on the entire contract like the Lions?

So they're paying Stafford 19.5 mill and Goff hits the cap for 22.5?
Good thing this trade give us Cap room.
Oh, wait a minute...

No I don't believe they are paying the 22.5 million. I'm no capologist maybe someone can fine out but Detroit is taking the whole amount with guarantees including this upcoming season. Someone just fact check me on that but that's my understanding.

I love this trade. We needed out of that contract and we've upgraded at the QB position..and we can keep some of the solid young talent we've drafted and developed because that contract is gone.

We've built a solid foundation with picks in the 3rd thru the 5th round...got a starting rookie FS in the 6th round this year. No team in the league has been drafting that quality consistently in the draft in those rounds.

We needed to make this deal to keep more of those guys and give us a QB that can stretch the field.

What do you mean? What true colors? I get not liking the deal. I get being a fan of goff. But y'all are basically rooting for our failure at this point. Just to see one player succeed. What kind of fan does that? You can even hope Goff succeeds without wanting Mcvay's head for it.

Not sure who's rooting for the Rams to fail? I'll be thrilled if this works. But I'm not counting on it.

Ugh. Just, freaking....ugh.

What is with Snead's utter hatred of 1st round draft picks? This is why this team has so many damn holes. All this for what is BARELY an upgrade and a guy who's only going to last 2 or 3 more years.

Stanford is 32 years old. We will need to trade away our first round picks in 2025 and beyond to replace him. This is just really fucking stupid.

They are absolutely paying the 22.5 mill. Its dead cap money that has already been paid to Goff that automatically accelerates. And at the moment they are paying Stafford 9.5 mill salary and will pay his 10 mill roster bonus

I wish you luck, my friend. I won't be rooting against this franchise, but I am just not sure I can get on board with this. It's entertainment. And I've suffered through a lot of bad football with this team. Watching them do the exact thing (well, an even worse version of that thing, actually) that I wanted them not to do has me reconsidering whether it's worth continuing.

It's not about luck my friend. Jared Goff was not going to win a SB for our Rams.

McVay knew this. Snead knew it and so did many in the NFL circles that watched the all 22 videos of Goff's performances.

Goff was not capable of having vision of the whole field and it was becoming more obvious after every game.

Wolf could read defenses better and McVay realized it. It was time to move on even with the overpaid draft capitol it required.

Stafford will have a lot of pressure on him to get the Rams past the divisional round in 2022 but he's more equipped to do that than

Jared Goff and the Rams brain trust has banked on it.

In Stafford we Trust.

Ironically Terry Bradshaw not long ago on national television said the Rams needed to bench Goff and make a trade for Matthew Stafford in the offseason. Terry will be the talking point of Rams games in 2021 for that comment because is became reality.

Terry was correct and in the strangest of ways it actually happened.

I'm curious how McVay deals with a much less structured QB. Stafford will make decisions on the field that are not based on reads but on his gut. He will change the play. That wasn't a problem in Detroit because Bevell wasn't a details guy and Stafford is calling routes at the line.

McVays offense is very much based on misdirection which requires a lot of coordination. Movements, formations, ect. need to look similar out of the same condensed set. Not a lot of room for QB creativity.

Sean Mcvay's Ego just set this franchise back 5 years. Unbelievable.

Fricken Martz part 2. Let's bring Trung Canidate out of retirement to.

So to answer the question, yea Mcvay is an asshole.
This is one of those posts you will wish you had back some day my man. It's gonna be fun. :ROFLMAO:

Yet Brad Holmes, Lions GM and a guy who was in our building for all last year was willing to take not only Goff but a chunk of his contract. He apparently doesn't feel the same way, or he knows that there is more to the story.

Either way, McVay and Snead just put their own jobs on the line, because if this trade fails, they're probably gone. And should be.
As usual I cannot conceive how you just arrived at your conclusion. But I hope the view is good up there for you. :beer2::cool:
