And, the whole point of a team acquiring a Brady, Rodgers or Russell Wilson, would be to go for a Super Bowl in the next year or two. Trading a top-player is inconsistent with that goal. What if Detroit had said, 'you can keep one of the two first round picks but we want Cooper Kupp'.
You're right -- wouldn't be easy for the Niners to part with a Bosa or Armstead. But the problem for them is, they have no picks. The Rams were able to offer 3 picks, including two 1s and a QB. Niners could offer Garropolo, but without any picks to offer, the only way they make it happen is by trading a top-tier player. And while such a move would hurt them, adding Brady would more than make up for it.

If I'm the Niners, I'd do it. And the reason is that, apparently, Trey Lance might not be all that. They have a SB ready team, EXCEPT for their QB, who is the only thing preventing them from being a serious contender. So, what's the point of having all that talent if it's just going to be wasted while they spend two years trying to groom Lance, who may ultimately not work out. Their window is now and they should take advantage, even at the cost of having to trade some really good players.

Brady is a significant upgrade over Jimmy G, whom the Rams barely beat.

I care. A lot.
Keep in mind Brady is still under contract with the Buccaneers so compensation would have to be worked out.

It's way too early to close the book on Trey Lance. He was very raw coming out, but he is a tremendous athlete who will only get better with experience. Hopefully, however, he will continue to suck. It would be nice to have the 49ers play with another below-average QB for a couple more years.

But your original argument was not that it would difficult for SF to acquire Brady -- which I agree that it would be. You were saying you're not afraid of Brady on the Niners, regardless of how difficult it would be to make that happen. I think Brady would make the Niners instant NFC favorites. So I sure hope he stays retired.
Both can be true at the same time. I am not afraid of Brady, but even if they attempted to acquire him, there are hoops that must be jumped through. JUMP THEM FRISCO, cuz we would beat you anyway!

I like your confidence and bravado, but I guess I'm more of a realist/pessimist. :laugh3:

Shitters aren't stupid. If Lance isn't ready they'll be offering players to go get a QB. We're gonna have to face them with a decent or better QB most likely this season but if not then that's good too.

I think the key vs the Shitters has more to do with how the Rams approach their OL than anything the Shitters do. Rams need to have an eye toward physicality. Like I mentioned in another thread Kittle predicted on Cowherd the Rams would struggle vs the Bengals defensive front because the Bengals had surprised SF with how physical they were. And that Bengals front played our OL harder than SF or Tampa, though I will observe the Rams were able to adjust vs those two vice seeing them once like Cincy.

Snead and McVay just gotta take care of business here. I think they know how important defending this title is. Rams aren't gonna lazily run it back and concede shit IMO. I'll be disappointed if it's just about bringing the same guys back because next year that OL might cost us.

Reading defenses really requires game experience. He's not going to see the same things in practice. IMO that is the biggest problem with Trey. I don't think he will be like Kyler Murray who after 3 years is still way behind the curve in being able to read defenses. The guy has a whole lot of arm talent, what he's lacking is experience playing as a pocket passer. 2023 will be the real measure of what they probably have or don't have in Lance. I think he will become the second best QB in the NFCW by 2023. With their run attack and defense Lance can become a dangerous QB.

The people doing the whispering are probably people who don't know squat about being an NFL QB. As long as Wilson is in the NFCW, Kyler is always going to be the #4 QB in the division.

Everyone calls him a tremendous athlete. No one has ever given a reason he'd be a good QB. I've asked here a couple of times for someone to tell me anything they like about him that's QB related. The closest we got was "he has a big arm". We all know that means fuck all for success.

It is too early to close the book, but there's no reason to be concerned about the end either. Trey Lance is more likely than not going to wash out of the NFL unsuccessful.

He sure wasn't impressive in the 2 games i saw him play this year.

The Rams have made him look like absolute shit the last 4 times they met him. Why would that change? Because he went to the whiners? Haha.

Does anyone think that fuck would let Shanahan tell him to hand off the ball all game? No way. He has to be the centre of attention. He has to throw, throw, throw. And the Rams will make him look like shit, shit, shit.

Before landing in TB, Brady made a big deal about wanting to stay on the East Coast so he could stay close to his eldest son Jack, and that the East Coast was preferable.

Sounds like his wife and kids wouldn't be gung-ho about moving to CA.

Think what all those first round picks could do if the 49’ers had them this off-season.

But. They don’t.

The dude played 1 year of D1-aa ball and people are surprised the kid isn’t ready?
He may be good some day but it was a stupid pick and I still maintain Shanahan wanted Jones.

As far as I know, Brady is retired, and it's the media begging him to come back.

As Lance goes, they have the whole offseason to get him ready.

Same here. I watched both of them. I don't know if he'll be that guy their fans hope he'll be. But I doubt its gonna happen in his first full season. There will be growing pains. I will say he's in a good system for young quarterbacks. They work the short game and run as well as anyone. Shanahan will protect him as much as possible like he did Jimmy GQ. But how good can you expect your offense to be when the play calling is limited to protect your quarterback from himself?
