I like KW he is a smart player and runs hard. But he has to get better at holding onto the ball. Fumbles can keep you from winning games.

I'm fine if Les wants to keep Kyren around. But I don't want him to be THE guy, and I'd really like someone who either has more speed or can break more tackles. Or both.

He's a good back, but if he gets 90% of the carries in a 17 game season, you should expect that from a good back.
We've had 3 starting RB's under McVay and 2 of them have done it as well.

S Jacksons first carry as a pro was a fumble. Nice run too but he coughed it up.
Kyrens fumble issues are a little overblown IMO. Plenty of Rams RBs have had fumble issues and some VERY good RBs at that.
But those guys were a potential house call every time they got into the 2nd level.
Kyren a very good at running "with" traffic. He runs with them like a All Pro, but just not past them like Gurley, Dickerson ect.
And easy TDs are better than hard TDs.
We have that and we do not have to worry about getting cute timing passes inside the 10 yard line because we just ran it in from 40 yards out !
The fumble topic w/KWill is fresh and understandingly in that it significantly contributed to the Rams exit from the playoffs. I’m not hearing the same about Staffords fumble (which by all accounts should have been the nail in the coffin). But Stafford (legitamitely) is given a pass because of what he has done for this franchise. I say let time cool emotions and put KWill in competition with Corum (and whomever they draft) but let’s not call for his head.

Well, Williams did fumble in both playoff games, they just happened to recover his fumble in the Vikings game.

Yeah and the other was Todd Freakin Gurley
Correct

I still don't get why you don't get the rest of us know he's a good running back. But hey I'll drop it since mods don't like it.

QB versus RB fumbles are not synonymous.

QBs fumble a lot more and that should be expected. They're maneuvering in the pocket looking for an open receiver or hit right before a throw. It's often a surprise.

OTOH, RBs can brace for the hit. With proper technique, they should fumble very little.

KW is a very good back but it's not emotion for why people are coming for him. It's the fumbling issue plus not having game-breaking capabilities.

Williams has another season of Rams control. They would do well to make him wait to get the contract, vice paying him early. They got bit by that with Gurley. Now Williams is healthy, and he's been very effective. But the wise approach is to require him to show improvement on that fumbling in 2025 and then lock him up.

I do love the player. So I get that the Rams want that identity in the locker room. Just be smart. If they can get a contract done that is cheaper than the projected $5M cap hit, so be it. This is one we have to wait and see how it's structured I'd guess.

Kyren will make approximately 5 mil this year because of the escalator clause. There is no reason to extend him right now. And personally, I see no reason to give him a second contract for all of the reasons mentioned above. He is a good back..., just not good enough to give a large, second contract to.

Sounds like Sean wants to extend him

Honestly I think that's a mistake. Unless its cheap - which I can't imagine it will be.

Kyren seems like a great guy and does a lot of things well that we value - but if you can't be trusted to not have game killing fumbles then it really doesn't end up being worth it.

He was just responding to a question about an extension for Williams... He just responded, saying that it would be discussed. So I wouldn't read too much into that as he certainly is not going to say, "No, we won't duscuss that." I mean he is not going to say that in public.

I think he’s saying; “at the right price and role”

Doesn’t sound super committed to me.

“On Friday, Rams General Manager Les Snead said that he anticipates talking to Williams about a contract extension.

“I think that’s something that’s going to be on the plate,” Snead said, via the team’s website. “He would be someone that after three years you could begin discussing, let’s call it, renegotiating, starting anew. Because I do think Kyren is someone who is a Ram and has a very impactful role for us.”

I 100% can't get behind a Kyren extension.

We drafted Corum as a mirror image to him. Corum was a TD machine at Michigan and plays very similar styles. We 100% need a bellcow/explosive/physical runner.

I really like Kyren as a person and he's a solid player. BUT his garage is based a lot off volume. Of the Top 12 RBs in yardage, he's last in average and towards the top in carries.

You extend/pay guys like Barkley/Josh Jacobs etc. Kyrens are found often.

Is he a bad player? No. BUT, if McVay is deadset on an offense/versatility reset, you don't pay Kyren when we just drafted Corum.

I think they want to reduce is $5M cap hit in 25', and a new deal could do that. If they can't come to an agreement on an extension, I am guessing he could be traded.

If it's imminent make it immediate.
