I think they want to reduce is $5M cap hit in 25', and a new deal could do that. If they can't come to an agreement on an extension, I am guessing he could be traded.

If it's imminent make it immediate.
I do agree with this take as it allows more cap room for off season FA signings.

I think he’s saying; “at the right price and role”

Doesn’t sound super committed to me.

“On Friday, Rams General Manager Les Snead said that he anticipates talking to Williams about a contract extension.

“I think that’s something that’s going to be on the plate,” Snead said, via the team’s website. “He would be someone that after three years you could begin discussing, let’s call it, renegotiating, starting anew. Because I do think Kyren is someone who is a Ram and has a very impactful role for us.”
I'm just going by what Mcvay said.

He said Kyren had basically earned it.. that he embodies what this team is about.

I'm not really reading anything into it - saying "for the right price" and things like that would be reading into it.

That could be the case, but they certainly didn't say anything about price - only that him getting an extension is on the table.

Which they didn't need to say anything specific.

When asked they could have said -"we will take a look at all of our guys and figure out what's best moving forward."

They could have blew the question off.

The fumble topic w/KWill is fresh and understandingly in that it significantly contributed to the Rams exit from the playoffs. I’m not hearing the same about Staffords fumble (which by all accounts should have been the nail in the coffin). But Stafford (legitamitely) is given a pass because of what he has done for this franchise. I say let time cool emotions and put KWill in competition with Corum (and whomever they draft) but let’s not call for his head.
Comparing a quarterback fumbling and a running back?

You are joking right?

It was coach speak in some ways - but he also says some pretty specific things in there.
Coach speak usually has those little morsels so it looks better if they don't keep a player.

Disregard coach speak or GM speak in January.

Last year, 1/24/24 to be exact, Snead said the Rams were interested in extending Ernest Jones. McVay was saying the same stuff about that interest in extending. We see what happened.

The price must be right.

That's the key for all of this. No one ever knows what the player will ask for in a contract negotiation. That can derail the future of any player with any team.

Did my post looked like I was joking. And it included Staff as a QB that has earned the occasional fumble.
A quarterback fumbling is no where near the same as a running back... QB's fumble at like a 200% higher rate than RB's because they are holding the ball with one hand getting ready to pass it.

It's a completely different situation.

I would like to see better ball security before showing Kyren the money. Maybe after he improves his ball security next season if not so long.

I can't believe he only had TWO runs of 18+ yards last season. That's absolutely MIND BLOWING considering his volume.

we need an upgrade at RB. I'm sorry but as much as I appreciate Williams, and he is a great blocker, a shifty Runner with decent vision he needs a second gear so he can then let go of the football with one hand. Otherwise, if he's not holding it with both its gonna be a fumble. This is another time I would like to be a fly on the wall and listen in on what they are really thinking over there in Cabo or wherever they are.

He has had some huge holes at times too. Pretty inexcusable. People always comment on how this offense lacks explosiveness. You can get that on the ground too.

Huge holes, yes, but the opposing LB's and S played so close to the line the majority of the year because there will no vertical passing game. What is more astounding is that KW averaged over 4 YPC with so few big runs. This is quite the accomplishment, and he always kept the chains moving when given the chance.

Do you have a website where I can see the data saying "opposing LBs and S played so close to the line"?
Nextgenstats says the opposite. It says he faced "8 in the box" just 14% of the time - the 42nd lowest rate of the 47 RBs they rated.

1. He runs behind the 5th best run blocking OL in football (per PFF in 2023 & again this year).
2. He had 2 carries of 18 yards or more out of 316 total. Thats basically impossible.
3. He faces "8 in the box" just 14% of the time.

Putting these facts together, one can see where another more explosive RB might excel in this offense where KW does not.

These facts point out that he turns 30+ yard runs into 12 yard runs.

He seems like a wonderful young man/teammate and plays as hard as anyone we've got, but . . . we need an upgrade at RB or at least give Corum more carries to see what he can do?

In this draft I think the only RB I would trade up for would be Jeanty. He will be outstanding in the NFL.
There are enough other "good" RBs that a team can just wait for one to "fall" to their pick.

Wow, makes it more painful when you put those stats out there. We absolutely need more from the RB.

We drafted Corum to be a Kyren replacement, get a RB who is opposite of them.

Williams is a savant in the gap scheme... but he's not putting any pressure outside or deep on a defense. He just doesn't have the juice.

Doesn't mean he's not useful.. but.. you need to be able to hit home runs occasionally. He just ain't that.
