Given his size and current usage, I question if Kyren is going to hold up enough to make a large second contract a good investment. Last I checked he's played about 100 more snaps than the next NFL RB this season.

It might make the most business sense to let Kyren play out his contract and then make a decision during the 2026 free agency period. They could then franchise him for a season, re-sign him to an agreeable contract, or move on.

He's a good RB. But, with the possible exception of punter and long snapper, finding a good RB might be the easiest thing for an NFL personnel person to find, IMO.

The ultimate goal is the Super Bowl and remember this team won one with a Sony Michel / Darryl Henderson combination.

KWill is definately a top 10 RB this year. No 2 RBs are the same so comparing them is difficult. But his ability to set up his blocks, get yards after contact yardage and score are special. Best the Rams have had since 2017 Gurley (I’m projecting KWill to finish stronger than 2018 Gurley).
2018 Gurley was an absolute monster until his injury. Kyren isn't that good. Not a knock on him. Gurley was playing at a near MVP level.

Gurley was. It was an outright shame his career lasted so short of a time.

Gurley was similar to the worlds most perfect beautiful stallion. This is still one of my favorite Rams photos in my 63 years of life.
When healthy Gurley was the best back in the NFL. Its a Rams tradition.

TDs are situational statistic. Gurley had 12 TDs in 2019 after his knees were shot. Some HBs are better than others at converting TDs, and Kyren certainly is good at it. But opportunity also plays a major role in it. Jonathan Taylor had 18 rushing TDs in 2021 and 11 rushing TDs as a rookie in 2020. It's not a skill he suddenly lost. I don't question whether Kyren is worth a second contract. I question whether he's worth the second contract he'll command.
Situational when it’s 1 season.
When it’s back to back, it’s skill

He can ask. But what if the Rams say, "we're not trading you. You can play out your contract."

Wouldn't that be a better plan for them than trading him? Unless you think Kyren would demand a trade?

Demand is a harsh word....I think it would be irresponsible of him to play next season without a second contract.

I don't see us wanting to pay him.

We always do right by players even to our detriment...I think this would be another instance of that

Stop, you've dogged him from the jump over this ridiculous breakaway speed
Now you're contradicting yourself just to avoid giving him credit.
Taylor's breakaway speed does nothing more than give fancy stats. Less 1st downs and less TD's. Less effective
Only 2 guys in Rams history have had back to back 15+ TD seasons, Gurley and Faulk. And when they did it, they won AP offensive player of the year. Now at a mere 24 years old, we got an RB who's done it and we question whether he's worth a 2nd contract?
Good grief
Yes I've been consistent in saying he has no break away speed which is a fact so not really sure why that gets to you but funny to see that so no, I'm not stopping on simply observing what he's not great at. Am I supposed to kiss every players ass with rose colored glasses on? No, but I can still be honest about my observation yet love the player which seems to be a concept you are being oblivious to. Now I guess I need to point out the obvious that he makes up for it with his cut back and vision skills. There are plenty of runs where if Kyren had that break away speed he'd score instead of just making a good gain. To me, a super elite back can take it to the house at any time. You telling me that's Kyren? It just isn't, but with that said, there aren't many of those out there. Taylor is a player that has that but comparing one player on a different team to Kyren is literally the definition of comparing apples to oranges. We literally see a recent example with Saquon Barkley looking like shit with the Giants to an MVP with the Eagles all because he's on a different team. JT would definitely do better with us and it would show, but again, its a fantasy cuz it aint happening (2nd time I'm saying this shit lol) and I'm purely discussing it to talk about running back talent alone. Said it plenty of times and I'll say it again since you seem to have problems reading what my previous posts say in that I wouldn't be mad at all if the Rams re-sign him. Like everything else, it depends on what he is asking for in a contract plus the fact that the Rams were severely burned the last time they extended a running back as have other teams. I'm literally not even saying what the Rams should do but discussing why its being discussed. If you don't like all possibilities being discussed on a fan forum, then maybe just ignore those responses and try not to sound so butt hurt about it. Anytime a player comes up for a contract extension, I'm willing to bet its discussed in various ways.

Save it. I do not think there are 10+ better backs in the NFL.
Keep the one we have and sign to a reasonable contract.
As long as he asks for a decent contract, I don't disagree. Getting a back better than Kyren is super dependent on who is even hitting the market with him as he's pretty damn good himself minus the break away speed. I don't think there is a Saquon out there becoming a free agent lol

Yes KWill is legit. Like any other running back, he's gonna have his warts but his positives are much more abundant. Question is what will he demand and what are the Rams willing to pay him since the trend for a lot of NFL teams have been to use those cap dollars on other positions they value more. Gonna be interesting to see how that goes down and be very telling on what they think about Corum as well. I'll trust the Rams on this one and simply watch from the sidelines with zero preference.

I love me some Todd Gurley now with his breakaway speed and smarts!
I remember in his first year, he broke away from all Cardinal(?) defenders and just lay down on the one yard line to let the time run down.. He could have had a TD, but chose to secure the win instead.
If I'm drafting a RB in the 1st round, it would be a Jahmyr Gibbs-like player. But we didn't draft Kyren in the first round and look at the production he has had for the team, which has been great. He is shifty with great awareness. He doesn't quit, ever. He's a blocking son-of-a-gun and TD machine! Will he hit a wall after a new contract? I don't know, but you roll the dice with this kid. I say re-sign him, Demoff!
See this is the exact type of response I love when discussing KWill. Discussing it like a boss. Good shit Loyal!

Get off KW. So he might not have break away speed but everything else he does is at a high level.
Just the fact that he stones pass rushers, McVay will keep him around.
The kid from Michigan was just cheap insurance IMO.
Sign Kyren to a contract good for both sides and lets rock.
When we continue to build out O line it will get even better.
Most of us have been clamoring for sticking with the run. And we are getting it, why bitch ?
I mean, McVay ran it on 3rd and 3 Sunday. And got it ! Proud of him ! I wish it was from under center, but I will take it.
We would not have seen that last season. Think he even ran it on 3rd and 6 recently too.
I don't think anyone is bitching but just pointing out where he lacks. It's really the only knock on KWill I can think of besides the occasional fumble, but he's definitely a good ass back. I just hope he doesn't outbid himself with the Rams as I imagine they have a set number they aren't willing to pay him past. If he did ask for more, I wouldn't blame him either as players do have to look after themselves when their contract comes up. Only way I'd want to seriously consider moving on from KWill is if we could get a Jeanty in the draft but that isn't happening since we have other needs we'll most likely address first.

Who would you take as RB for Rams next year if it were possible - Kyren or Jeanty?
Jeanty, only because I view him as a generational talent at running back. Never seen a running back break so many tackles. Think he'd be cheaper too on a rookie contract. Unfortunately I need to state that I'm not saying the Rams should trade up for him since some on here might take my response as such lol. Great conversational question by the way.
