The good news is that we're not in a position where we must trade Corum; this is only his second year on a rookie contract. Do we trade him in year four? That remains to be seen, but next season, I doubt we deal him if he's this effective for us.
Corum has a better top gear than Williams, so which one do you trade?

No reason to trade anyone.. the tandem has worked out incredibly well.. and, hopefully, we'll see Hunter mixed in next year.
I wouldn't hate a dart-throw on a fast RB in later rounds.. but that's about it this season.

Williams is just a very, very solid RB.. had the quietest 1200+ season I can remember, in some ways. He's a huge part of this offense being on schedule so much.

Many on ROD seem to undervalue the effectiveness of our running game. Kyren gets a lot of undeserved crap-- both for fumbles and long speed.

Rams are #7 in rushing YPG, # 1 in passing YPG, and #1 in total YPG.
If you check NFL RBs "longest runs" you'll find 30 runs that went for 50 yards or more. I suppose a couple of them had runs over 50 that weren't as long as their "long" listed in the stats. So let's say 10 more, making 40. That would be 272 games with 40 runs of 50 yards or more. Doesn't seem like a lot or at least enough to put such a huge value over "taking it to the house". And consider, not every one of those 50 yard runs were TDs. It's nice to have that "threat" but it's also nice to have 2 backs who can give you burst gains of 10 - 20 yards (Kyren - 20 ; Corum - 17), sometimes going beyond 20 (Kyren - 5 ; Corum - 5).

I think the criticism of Williams not being explosive is completely fair and it's actually pretty easy to see. Williams just can't hit that outside edge and explode up the field.. Corum can.

KWill is the better receiver and his blocking is all pro as well.

Why does he need to hit that "outside edge"? He can hit in between the tackles and gain huge chunks. He just doesn't have home run ability. Short area explosiveness? He's got that.

Do we think Corrum is going to be happy making $1 mil a season for carrying 40% of the load for two more seasons?

I see a potential problem happening next season.
Huh? Welcome to the NFL, there's guys on mid-round rookie contracts carrying 80%+ of the load. When his time comes, if nothing changes and they both continue to produce, then we can afford to pay Corum close to Kyren's contract and keep both on the roster for as long as we need to.

For better or for worse, RBs just don't take up a large percentage of the cap space. This is a non-issue.

Maybe they already have one but he's been inactive all year?

If he was a game changer, he wouldn’t be inactive. I get that he’s a 4.4 running back, but I’ve never thought he was on the level of Kyren or Corum was as a runner. He’s kind of proving my opinions correct at this point.

I'm surely not one advocating replacing Kyren, however Love is a special talent and after '26 Williams has no guaranteed money
It's a BPA situation for sure and nothing would surprise me.

I would rather replace Corum with Love than Williams tbh. Williams might actually be the best pass blocking RB in the NFL and love would negate the loss of Corum in all aspects

I'll reserve judgement until I see him on the field or unemployed.

Sure you do. Corum was 34% of the load this year. Ten games he had 8 or less attempts. The other 7 games he had 11-14 attempts. I think 1.3 mil is fine for 2026 and if he warrants a raise on that 1.6 in 2027 so be it. I love the way fans think every player is a money grubbing greedy bastard. Sometimes, they're just happy to be playing. Corum has 203 carries his first two years (26%). Kyren has 575 (73.9%). And Kyren just got paid like the #1, so that isn't gonna sway very much, especially if Hunter starts getting snaps next year.

I hardly think asking for your worth is being greedy. Considering the average career for a NFL RB is 3.4 years.

If Corums future is to have 40% of the snaps and be part of the Rams future then he should get a three year $15 mil deal/raise. LANDMAN got a nice deal and Lake was extended and he's only played half the season.

IMO

"Rookie contracts for drafted players can't be renegotiated or altered in any way until after the last regular-season game of the third contracted year."
