The should demote Hackett, he's a clown and should not be calling plays. Jets are doomed with him and the owner should have stood behind his Head Coach instead of keeping Hackett in place because of Aaron Rodgers.
I was listening to NFL on Sirius radio yesterday.
They had a clip of the owner talking about the release.
It sounds like the owner made the call after having a conversation with Roger’s. The GM wasn’t even involved in the decision, from what I got out of the statement.

I believe the reports that Saleh was thinking about cutting Hackett, and it pissed off Rogers.

I was told he had a meeting, got fired, and security walked him out. No team meeting, nothing.

Frigid cold, he's a better coach than that.
I think people are getting this mixed up with the Rex Ryan firing.
People were talking about how it happens to Rex and I believe people are falsely reporting that it’s how it went down with Saleh.
These talking heads that aren’t connected to the organization, always try to report what they hear as if is their own info

Sorry I don't wish for the guy to be gone or fired. Won't happen from me, I save that for a few players who are actually bad and their job. We don't know if Shula is tbh at this point but I like a lot of what we've seen so far from this very young defense.
Exactly.
Let’s see what he can do with some veteran talent.
Shula is trying to make chicken soup with eggs.
Some of these chicks haven’t even hatched yet.

I agree the owner generally should back his coach. But in this case you have a bad owner and an old QB who will just quit if his OC buddy is fired. The mistake was putting himself in the situation as HC in the first place. But once you're there, with an old primadonna QB, firing the OC would not be an option.

Unless you want out. Which maybe he did.

Getting rid of Sam Darnell is what really messed things up.If you look how The Rams got Baker,& then looking at what the Niners gave up to get Lance is FUNNY!!

Do you think the NFL wants coaches or players making any political statements? I don’t.
really doubt if displaying his heritage had anything to do with his getting fired

Seemed like it might be at first, but reports are saying it was because he wanted to fire Hackett.

It’s not like a coach displaying his heritage during NFL games is commonplace and it seems especially political during a time where that country is waging war. It’s political in a few other ways as well. The kneeling drove some fans away. I know many veterans that quit watching the NFL, because of it, even though their interpretation was not what was intended. I still think the league would prefer to avoid political displays on the field.

The Exact Opposite is true.

For the past two years, the NFL has actually had a Heritage Program where they encourage players and coaches to wear flags on their helmets (players) and jackets/shirts (coaches).

You can look it up. Below is one article I found from last October that mentions Puka Nacua's participation.

NFL celebrates international diversity with NFL Heritage Program

Published: Oct 19, 2023 at 10:27 AM

The National Football League will celebrate players' and coaching staffs' cultural origins this season with its NFL Heritage Program, with all 32 teams represented.

Across Weeks 7 and 8 of the 2023 season, over 330 players and coaches will return to the field wearing international flag decals -- with players adding flags to their helmets and coaches wearing patches on jackets -- to represent the ever-growing pool of various nationalities and cultures that make up the League.

Fans will see 70+ nations and territories represented by athletes including Tua Tagovailoa, Fred Warner, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Puka Nacua, Chris Olave, DJ Moore, Jimmy Garoppolo, Aaron Jones, Efe Obada and Jordan Mailata, among others, as well as coaching staff across 17 clubs including Bill Belichick, Arthur Smith, Ron Rivera, Brian Daboll and more.

"As we continue to prioritize the NFL's growth globally, we're proud to have our players and coaches honor their backgrounds through the NFL Heritage Program," said Peter O'Reilly, executive vice president club business, international and events at the NFL. "This initiative allows us to celebrate the heritage, families and cultures that make up the fabric of the League, and truly showcases the growing global reach and impact of the sport of football and the NFL."

Participants can choose to wear the flag of an international country or territory where relatives have been born or where they've lived for over two years. Players will wear these flag decals alongside the American flag, and are able to represent their backgrounds throughout the remainder of the season.

"My grandmother was born and raised in Samoa, and recently left us in 2021," said Nacua, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, who will display the Samoan flag on his helmet. "To be able to represent our family's heritage and feel like she is here with me on the field is the most incredible thing. I'm proud to play for all of our Samoan fans out there and can hopefully inspire future generations of Samoan athletes."

What in the actual fuck?

That country isn't washing war. What kind of information are you getting for current affairs. Oh wait, you live in America, that answers the question.

While I tend to agree, the Jets haven't had a winning season since 2015, and they're last playoff appearance was in 2010.

Their GM has been there since 2019. How he managed to keep his job?

My post was deleted and this drivel is allowed to stand?! I didn't violate any rules. I promise you, had we been "sitting in a bar, sharing a beer" I would have said the same thing.

Yeah it's more about maintaining the dumpster fire status than crashing and burning. That happened a while ago as you point out.

Well, I stand corrected. But, I think they may regret that policy down the road. I know a lot of people are unhappy with Saleh and his timing of wearing that flag on his shirt on 10/7.
